Honourable Mentions

As always you either had to place higher or do a significant update in 2016 to make this list. Here are the 2016 honourable mentions, that just missed out but are still worthy of your praise and attention.

Expanding Fronts is a massive modification for Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds aimed to breathe life back into the classic LucasArts strategy game by adding various new units, features, and gameplay elements. Each of the 8 civilizations are being reworked and enhanced to make each feel more unique and authentic to the universe, while maintaining the classic Battlegrounds gameplay. In addition, the Scenario Editor is being filled with hundreds of new units, buildings, effects, triggers, and objects to allow campaign and scenario designers more freedom than ever before.

Expand your Arma 3 experience with highly detailed and realistic Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and United States Armed Forces. This mod brings contemporary warfare between the world's superpowers to the next level.

A standalone expansion of the Call of Warhammer experience. Fewer scripts, unlocked gameplay, brand new factions, new continents, dozens of new units, new music, and much more.

Divide and Conquer is the biggest Third Age total War submod of all time. After all these years we finally got a release again. It contains tons of new factions, units, scripts, 2d and more! Many might have played it already back in 2009, it has been in developement for over 4 years now, but that was a very uncomplete release by a completely different team. With an almost completely new team Divide and Conquer restarted the work almost 2 years ago and this is the result. Lots of new factions, units, scripts and 2d, all made and tested by experienced Total War modders.

Medieval Kingdoms: Total War is a total conversion of Total War: Attila with brings the game to the high middle ages, set in the starting year of 1212 AD going until 1453 AD. This mod will completely revamp the game with new factions, units and much much more! (Yes this is the same mod team as for the Rome 2 version.)

5th | Brutal Doom 64

Doom II mod | Released Oct 30, 2016

Following the GZDoom port of Doom 64, BD-64 revitalizes the old Doom 64 with new special effects, particles, lightning, gore, new sounds, more weapon animations (shotgun reloads, smoother minigun barrels, etc.) and monsters and stuff cut from the original Nintendo 64 version. Works on GZDoom and Zandronum in OpenGL mode. (Zdoom and Zandronum Software mode are not supported.)

Thrawn's Revenge is a large-scale mod for Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. It includes the events of the Galactic Civil War after Palpatine's death at Endor, up until the signing of the Pellaeon-Gavrisom treaty.

3rd Place | Hearts of Iron IV: The Great War

Hearts of Iron IV mod | Released Nov 11, 2016

Start in 1910 with one of the Major Countries of this time and fight through the series of events that lead the world in the first bloodest confict: the First World War.

Become a member of the Triple Entente or of the Central Powers and help your side in the Great War.

From the French-German border, the Balkans Wars, the Russian Revolution and more to come, this complete overhaul mod includes a new map, new events, new leaders, new governments, new units, new tech tree, new game mecanics and improved AI.

2nd Place | Enderal

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mod | Released Jul 3, 2016

Enderal is a total conversion in development for Skyrim and the sequel to Nehrim: At Fate's Edge by SureAI. The story of Enderal is not set in the Elder Scrolls world of Tamriel, but takes place in its own universe, creating a new, interesting world completely unrelated to Skyrim with a complex, dark storyline and thousands of secrets to discover.

Call of Chernobyl is a free-play sandbox mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Call of Pripyat created by TeamEPIC. It features 32 explorable maps, reworked level design and level fixes, new original level, Trucks Cemetery, Full AI and A-Life overhaul, engine and script enhancements, Repeatable task system which bases itself on A-Life events, Customizable weather environments for every map as well as surges and psi-storms from AF3, Character creation which includes name, portrait and faction selection; Several optional modes such as Ironman mode, story mode and zombie survival mode, New achievements, rankings and reputation system, PDA leaderboard and enhanced PDA statistics, Companion system with keyboard issued commands, many optional side-features and community-made addons .

That wraps up this years awards, Congratulations to everyone! Happy new year and all the best with your developments in 2017!

My thanking the Facebook STALKER Community:

Letting the people know who count what TEAM EPIC did:

My personal congratulations to TEAM EPIC for all their hard work,

Congratulation to everyone and it's great to see that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Chernobyl is in the first place!

Also, I'm quite surprised by the honorable mentions which I expected that at least some of them would get to the top 10, but it's a pity that they don't get more votes than the last time.
