Celestial Impact is a team multiplayer FPS taking place on asteroids with spherical gravity. The game is unique in that the landscape can be deformed in every direction. Players can add or remove terrain during combat by aiming and firing a special tool called Dirtgun. Celestial Impact is a PC game developed in Sweden that started with a few university students having an idea of an unusual and fun game. The idea evolved into a larger spare-time project and has now reached a fully playable version.

Awesome podcast! Thanks so much to the Moddb team. I think I speak for both the SG team and the ICI team.

Great review as far as I'm concerned. :) ICI really put together an incredible gaming experience. I'm just glad I was part of the team that kept the mod alive & pushed it to stand-alone status. Thanks so much MODDB!

PS. I saw you guys on the servers with your moddb tags but I was at work & couldn't join. I sincerely hope to get the chance to swap lead with you folks on a server someday. (I've got yer gatling right here! Hehe.)

Glad to hear another mod topples Fistful of Frags. Another reason to make it even better heheh, thanks for the motivation moddb!

BTW, our notoriety system in short is something to increase teamwork. We aren't just shinny graphics, there is an intention to take a step forward in our mod and I wish people would appreciate that. But anyway, thanks for mentioning us even for such a comparison.

And congrats to SG team, of course.

erm just a thought for the modcast... could you put links on each of those subtitles so that they link to the relevant part of the cast coz i keep getting lost when i accidentally click off. or want to comment!

totally understand your trouble with rts. i cant complete coh on easy keep getting stuck.

eternal silence has kinda tricky controls for the aircraft. if there were non aircraft only maps i wd play cos it was fun. i think most fps players aren't that into planes...

i sometimes ask myself the same questions. i think i just have an irrational fear of flying even in video games. i think its the vertical movement and as soon as i do a loop the loop i dunno where i am so confusing. coz theres no ground to judge by.

Good episode, but a little long. tbh 2hrs is just too much for me, 1hr would be more suitable imo.

Also, kudos for being honest and speaking your minds, it's nice to hear people being honest about mods, giving praise when deserved, and being critical with reason :)

Darkpriest667 Jan 14 2009, 6:02pm says:

your review of the Sacrafice of Angels mod of Sins of a Solar Empire was uninformed.

1 . The coding of SOASE makes it very difficult to do the kind of modifications you want

2. The mod is not a skin change only... The values of the ships their capabilities the strategy employed with them is totally different.

3. The mod added another race SOASE only has 3 this mod was originally to have 6 but now only will have 4.

I think your review was uninformed and shows me you didnt play the game's original version enough to realize the differences were major.

I think you were very unappreciative of the mod and its quality.

I think maybe saying a re-skinning was kind of harsh. But in comparison, it's not as radically different as say, like Eternal Silence to Half-life 2. And that's not the fault of the mod creators, I personally believe there is only so much you can do when you try doing anything to any type of strategy/sim game.

I find myself playing FarCry 2 in intervals. Like I'll start it up, play a couple missions and then leave it alone for a couple days. It's a lot like how I play GTA games.
