Prepare yourself for an engaging first person shooter experience unlike any other.
Eternal Silence is a Cinematic Multiplayer Space Mod built on the Source Engine. It has been in development since 2003.
A massive deep space artifact from long-gone Earth was found and spawned a renaissance on the human colonies of the United Terran Forces. A gigantic assault from the UTF on the now independent colonies spawned the Neo Galactic Militia and started a deep space war the likes of which the world has never seen. Your role in Eternal Silence will be within vital strategic battles between massive capital warships. You will need your wits, your precision, your strength, your endurance, and above all your courage to take on the fierce challenges which await you.
Eternal Silence features the following:
Will you uphold the Valor, Pride, and Regulations of the United Terran Forces, or stake your own claim in the universe alongside the brothers of the Neo Galactic Militia. The decision is yours, what will be the outcome?

Hello everyone, we have some tidbits of news for you all! Since the 3.3 update, containing two new maps and a bunch of other fixes, we have been met by happier players and an even better experience out there on the public servers. We want to take a moment and thank all of you who continuously provide us with feedback, which we use to make the game better and to all of you who voted for us in the 2008 ModDB awards!

We made 7th place in the overall Player's Choice awards, which means a great deal to us, seeing as large parts of this community are less than two months old. We also recieved a mention in the Editor's Choice 'Most Innovative Multiplayer' and 'Best Multiplayer' categories, which seems appropriate, seeing as we are both innovative and multiplayer.
We are very happy with the results, and the increased amount of players on our servers.
Now to the development news. We have taken much of your feedback to heart and are tweaking parts of some maps, and infantry combat. Future updates will grant you greatly decreased reload times for many weapons, and weapons like the pistol will see more use.
There are also rumours that both factions are working on a new type of ship.. the current data points at a stealthy fighter, specialized at chasing bombers and gunships. Stay tuned for more detailed info as this development progresses.
We've had a spur of creativity on the forums lately. Community and Staff are all participating. I'd like to point out some of the amazing stuff being made by the members of our forum, so here are some pretty pictures for everyone's enjoyment:

A small teaser trailer that will be used both to promote Beta2 and also used during IGF at GDC this year.

This is our first actual game trailer released for Eternal-Silence. Release date within.
A small test video made of flying a UTF Interceptor through a few asteroids! A small hint at things to come.

man, looks, sweet.. hard to believe it's a HL 2 mod, looks nothing like the game. Really awesome!
is this mod be available in Half-life 2 Episode 1?
Reock's Reveiws!
I'll be honest with you, I didn't play this one much but it wasn't the games fault per say, It just didn't grip me is all.
ES is probably the most sci-fi tricked out mod on the source engine, the space ships were quite neat, if a bit hard to learn, the space combat put me in mind of Colony Wars but I never could hit anything, in fact my first time playing I grabed the transport ship and like four guys jumped in with me before i took off, im flying along thinking. "These guys are so screwed." But I actully managed to find my way to the asteroid we needed to be going to before anyone figured out I had no clue where I was going, or for that matter how to stop once i got there. The ground battles, if you can realy call it 'ground' being in a space station, ship or asteroid, where pretty cut and dry. Shoot bad guy, don't let bad guy capture objective, or get away with the bomb. Kind of Domination meets Capture the Flag, The weaponry was pretty diverse, though I personaly enjoyed the scouts ability to plop there main gun down on a tri-pod and control it with a remote from nearby.
If your bored , need a new mod to play or just like spaceship combat then you might enjoy Eternal Silence although I didn't realy play it enough to get a feel for its flaws, I do know It addresses latency the same way CS:S does, that being the very very annoying rubber band effect and the space ships radar is very vague making it tricky to find enemy ships with out pointing your ship twards obvious signs of combat and humping the target function.
Funny review, but seriously, does nobody browse the controls or objectives? It's plastered all over the screen on each server join even. Probably put twice as much effort into guess work as it'd take skimming over the info provided.
It didn't grip you, because you didn't even know what you were playing.
lmao! I just checked the Eternal Silence "Steam Update News" on Steam and couldn't help posting this! Maybe it's been seen by most of you, but eh... I had no idea that ES was 40 years old already! Talk about a Steam Blooper!! (Yes folks! It's Steam's Fault! Not the ES Teams!) lol... Check this out...
Stargatetew.com
(Forgive the stargatetew.com linkage... I just thought it easier to upload to my own server rather than ImageShack or whatever ;) )
If you check the update news for a game that doesn't have any, you'll see that. If it has no updates, it has no "Latest Update" date, and that value is zero. In a lot of database software, December 31, 1969 is the zero date.
I have no idea why it's that date specifically, but this is why you're seeing it.
no shotgun in here
Leave it for Empire...
Theres already a mod like that out, that focuses on ground battles. Forgot the name, but Im sure you can find it easily.
yeah, it's called Empires
