Prepare yourself for an engaging first person shooter experience unlike any other.

Eternal Silence is a Cinematic Multiplayer Space Mod built on the Source Engine. It has been in development since 2003.

A massive deep space artifact from long-gone Earth was found and spawned a renaissance on the human colonies of the United Terran Forces. A gigantic assault from the UTF on the now independent colonies spawned the Neo Galactic Militia and started a deep space war the likes of which the world has never seen. Your role in Eternal Silence will be within vital strategic battles between massive capital warships. You will need your wits, your precision, your strength, your endurance, and above all your courage to take on the fierce challenges which await you.

Eternal Silence features the following:

  • Cinematic Battles between Capital Ships on battlefields as large as 32768 cubic kilometers
  • Choose between ataining victory on foot by capturing the enemy's subsystems, or be a pilot and bomb vital systems from space.
  • Fast and Furious dogfights between Fighters and other Tactical Craft in deep space. Escort you gunships to deliver a squad of marines to the enemy hangar.
  • A True Space Experience. Cut your ship's engines and drift in the frictionless void of space.
  • Action-Packed ground battles. Seize decks of your enemy’s ship, controlling or disabling their shields, weapons... Fight off the enemy and work as a team, fulfilling the role of one of many classes with an array of unique weapons at your disposal.
  • Achieve Victory by destroying the enemy capital ship inside and out.
  • A Complete Story behind the Eternal Silence universe, released chapter by chapter as a novella is available online

Good news. Our new awesome coding duo, Verox and headprogrammerczar (aka. Juzz) have been hard at work on a small "Polish Patch" which has been submitted to Valve. It should be active on Steam shortly. The change log is below. They tell me they are also working on a big, exciting patch. I'll let headprogrammerczar explain it himself:

Support for demos is also planned, so you can finally share that video of you hitting a fighter with a missile from a kilometer away without a lock. The tutorial map series will get a lot of attention too, with new map entities and a new game mode. In the meantime, spread interest and keep the game alive!

[FIX] - Gravity change exploit on Navigator
[FIX] - Heavy fighter primary weapon crosshair now shows up at the correct range
[BAL] - Fighters, interceptors, and heavy fighter attack/escort waypoints are more appropriate for strike, attack, and defend phases.
[ADD] - Players spawn in the passenger seats of gunships first
[FIX] - CP_ timer logic was improved to fix the "one minute victory" bug
[FIX] - trigger_gravity works for non-player entities now, as well as players. Mappers everywhere rejoiced!
[BAL] - Self-inflicted explosive damage when in infantry is now reduced by half (this includes grenades, ion cannon secondary fire, and self-destructing turrets)
[BAL] - Players can no longer join the larger of two teams (max team size difference reduced from 2 to 1)

good looking vid, when i first played this mod i hated it because the map i was playing had no flow indoors and the frigate thing just made me angry, the other thing was the timy siz of the hanger, making what i thought would be an awesome boarding experience into im gonna crash my ship into thin air and fall and then run around a confusing labyrinth of death, but the new vid looks much better almost sexy will probably re-dl

To Shaun10656:There is infantry combat,alot of it actually.To win,you need to board the enemy ship,then take the subsystems and destroy it.There are also some ground only maps,but basically noone plays them.

Great mod, from the looks of it, but i cant get it cause the steam server is always too full for download. could you please just give a regular download link, instead of the stupid steam store cause i dont know if anyone else has had this problem, but ive waited hours and it always says the steam server is too full

For flying into hitboxes, maybe have a boundary box before you hit it, that makes your ship do a U-Turn. Of course, you should avoid doing a U-turn right into a floating asteroid...
