Empires, the award winning Half-Life 2 mod, combines the best of the first person shooter and real-time strategy genres. Fight as either the Northern Faction, remnants of the fallen nation of Jekotia, or as the imperial Brenodi Empire. Empires features:
Four infantry classes
- Prepare a surprise attack as the scout or take the enemy head-on as the rifleman. Drive back enemy tanks as the grenadier or support your team as the engineer. With four different infantry classes, each with customizable skills, you can create the perfect class to fit your playing style.
Squad-Based Teamwork
- Players can organize themselves into highly-effective squads, overwhelming their opponents with superior tactics. Squad leaders can not only direct their respective members, but also use special squad powers such as reviving dead squad members or calling down an artillery strike on the enemy.
Vehicle Combat
- Whether you're ferrying troops around the battlefield with the Armored Personnel Carrier or reigning fire upon your foes with the Artillery tank, Empires features a variety of vehicular combat. Choose from six different vehicle types, including three levels of tanks, and customize your weapons, armor, and engines.
Real-Time Strategy Commander
- For those more inclined to RTS gameplay, you can play as the commander. Place buildings, build defensive turrets, construct vehicles, and conduct research on your way to leading your team to victory.

Nope! Definitely not dead.
Unless you count the Viper server that shut down due to a lac of population. Only populated server is in the UK and ran by the person that has done the most damage to this mod.
Viper did not shut down due to lack of population. They shut down due to 2-3 people poaching, and being generally unappreciative towards the server owners. And they are thinking of bringing it back until the next billing cycle comes.
Vizio, if all you're going to do is spread misinformation because you feel you've been wronged, then just stop. Leave your drama out of here, its extremely irritating to read.
Complete, Are you really suggesting that a server that is fully populated would shut down due to 2-3 people ??? Are you that retarded ? There is only enough people to populate 1 server during peak times. 1-3 hrs a day. I am sure Viper owners are a little ****** with the shady tactics Epic pulled to steal population. PS. No viper = no US servers. So not just I was wronged but all US and Canadian players have been wronged.
I saw your post on the forums about how the Euro dev team is conspiring against Americans (even though one is Canadian). Please get help, and stop clogging up this comment box. No one cares about your vendetta.
What I said was "it's n secret Trickster and other Devs don't like Americans" Nothing about conspiring. They openly admit their dislike for Americans. I also never said all devs. Their is a few I respect. "Empty, and Beerdude" I also have no vendetta.
I keep getting "invalid steam ticket" and "buffer overload" I tried it today and it would let me go on for 10 secounds then say invalid steam ticket.
Cna some one help.
1. Log out of steam.
2. Close steam
3. Open task manager and make sure it is closed
4. Delete ClientRegistry.blob and userdata
5. restart your computer
6. start steam and log in.
If that fails go to steam settings then download + cloud. Pick a different download region.
to fix the invalid steam ticket error, try deleting ClientRegistry.blob
if that doesnt work, try deleting your userdata folder in Steam/userdata (it seems to be a problem with most mods)
