Mod Awards
In total there were seven awards given to LotR mods this year. It was a fantastic turnout with LotR mods winning the first places in both Player's Choice awards. Age of the Ring won the 1st Place at Mod of the Year, with Divide and Conquer at the 4th Place and Total War: Rise of Mordor at the 8th and a Honourable Mention of Edain Mod. Kingdoms of Arda won 1st Place at the category Best Upcoming Mod, Age of the Ring at the category Best Continued Support and The Last Alliance at the category Best Adaptation Award.
Activity at modding
Venlesh announced that playtesting the campaign for the Workshop version of the mod Legends of Middle-Earth 5.0 for the game Age of Mythology: The Titans is now public.If interested, you need only reach out to him via the mod's Discord, where he will provide the files needed for the campaign to work properly. You can read more at his article about The New Shadow Playtesting Beta. Some easter event is also getting mentioned there ^^
Coming with this already to the Total War series, starting as the most times with the game Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms. Here we got a new screenshot of Sauron, Lord of Wolves and Castellan of the Witch-fort at the modding project Silmarillion: Total War.
Castellan*Taurion* is also continuing his work at the Castellan's Visual Enhancemets & Overhaul for Divide And Conquer. Assets for the factions Dorwinion, Gundabad and the Iron Hills have been presented.
Also the developers of the mod Third Age: Reforged showed off new sceneprops created by WK_.
We also get new Vault Wardens of Khazad-dum at the modding project Third Age: Fall of Arnor.
The developers of Conflicts of Eriador are also eagerly working but since they post their pictures only at the Tolkien Modding Community Discord I tend to forget to mention them sometimes but not out of ill will, be assured of that. R3AP3R presented there recently new Barrow Wights and their lord who leads them for Angmar as well as a new Dunmen General model.
At the modding project DCI: Last Alliance we also got to see a new unit, the Sorcerers of the Hill Men of the North.
Sara_Temer released the Alpha version 0.2.1 with the Calenardhon Update for the mod Last Alliance: Total War for the game Total War: Shogun 2, a hotfix coming shortly afterwards. You can read more about the update here. We also got pictures of Elven Spears and Numenorean Soldiers and Rangers.
The developers of Total War: Rise of Mordor for the game Total War: Attila also published the Open Alpha v0.3.5 which you can find here. Otherwise you can feast your eyes on the new published design concepts of them and enjoy the making of stream at the creation of one of them.
Switching to the BfME series, starting with the RR_Mod for Battle for Middle-earth II: Rise of the Witch King. bilbothehobbit presented the Gondor spellbook and seems to play around with the FX a lot these days. But take better a look at it yourself ^^
At Age of the Ring two well known wizards joined meanwhile the ranks of new assets as well as new buildings
The developers of Edain Mod previewed meanwhile the Spellbook of the Misty Mountains in an article which you can read up here.
At the game Battle for Middle-earth we Dickenson working at his little project Bfme mini mod.
Coming to the Mount & Blade series, InVain has updated his TLD LOTR Scene Pack, Version 2.4 is compatible with the current Steam version (Dec 2020) of The Last Days (of The Third Age of Middle Earth), up to at least Nightly Patch 3366. He also added a new Minas Tirith wall model and improved the Minas Tirith scenes.
At the modding project Kingdoms of Arda for the game Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord we got a new Music Dev Blog in which you can find out how the Kingdoms Of Ardas Soundtrack will be implemented into the game.
And at last we have again the LOTR Weapon and Armour Designs project presenting a few new sketches and a download file which you can find here.
Tolkien in games outside the modding area
MikeTheEmperor, developer of The Ring Roleplay Project - TRRP, posted an article about the remastered Seat of Seeing and about his Plans for 2021. He hopes to be able to finish a second demo in mid February.
And the developers of The Battle for Middle-Earth: Reforged presented an Elven Fortress and uploaded a video about the current progress of their work.
