Some time ago we dropped RVE 1.2 as the next version number and changed it to 2.0, the reason being was we didn't want people thinking RVE 1.2 was just a update of 1.1, when its so much more so that's the reason behind the version number change, I was also calling it 1.2 from force of habit but no more .


I thought i would post up in the news feed what the current progress with the mod and what we are working on at this point in time plus some info about RVE 2.0.

Mod Progress

There is currently only two members of RVE team, me and Avtius_12, We did have some helpers at some point but they have moved on so please understand the amount of time needed to do a overhaul of a game when its just two people working on it.

Mod Progress is slow at the moment as the Research Tree layout are holding use but i have been working on other parts of the mod but to start bug/balance testing we need the tree up and running in the mod.

We are holding off adding new units to the mod until we have balanced the units already in the mod adding more units just pushing the mod back even more from a Public release.

Research Tool

We didn't hit our donation goal for the research tree editor, So we had to use funds for the mod manager that we had put aside but as the research tree editor as it was a higher priority.

Mod Manager

Fundraising has started for a new mod manager to be made, lets see if we can hit the goal so this happens, the new mod manager will bring in Multi-Language support for users running non English version of windows, new features like setting the unit cap and other game options along with side mods, this manager will also have a Hash number so you can check if your running the same mods as a friend!

UPDATE 23-03-15
Thanks to every one that donated, it really did show the support for SC2 and RVE , As the mod manager will be programmed on the behalf of RVE it will not be limited to just RVE, any mods can support it as long as the mod creators make there mod to do so.

Programming for the new mod manager is booked in , The programmer that made the research tree tool will be programming it, we are just waiting for his to finish up a current job.

Ill update the news tomorrow if i get time :). Albino said he would help but because he hasn't had any experience with RVE 2.0 it makes new help in codding hard to come by.

I've tried installing your mod again after a very long time. The installing does work, I can start playing the mod. However, after a few minutes of gameplay the game crashes to desktop.

I've done some digging in old comments and such, and saw several other people had the same issues.

I have the DLC. I've tried validating my files through steam. I've done several complete reinstalls. I've tried only installing the main Revamp Expansion Mod (and modsupport), but nothing seems to work.

A friend of mine installed the mod and can play it just fine. I did exactly the same he did, but that didn't work for me. I even tried copying his gamedata folder and putting it in my own game, and it still doesn't work...

Right now, I'm clueless how to get this to work again. Any help would be appreciated.

When moving the scds to gamedata did you unzip them because the main scd file is only for the manager the game scds are inside this file.

I've tried installing it in multiple different ways:
-Just putting the main (zipped) .scd files in the gamedata folder
-Unzipping all mods and putting all of the seperate files in my gamedata folder.
-Unzipping only my revamp expansion mod and modsupport, and leaving the sub-mods zipped. (I've also tried this without adding the sub-mods at all)

None of these methods seem to have worked. The game does start with the mod enabled; it even says so near my version and it also seems to work in-game as the scale of my units has changed and the research trees contain classic units. After about a minute or two it just crashes.

Does the game run fine without the mod? Normally the game would crash on ACU spawn that's if files were missing, try testing on sandbox with no AI and leave the game on idle foe the amount of time it takes to crash , I'm guessing it crashes on every faction? If you have a 2nd system please test it on that as well.

I'll try running a sandbox match without AI later and see how that goes.

I don't think it's my system, as the mod worked on the very same pc a few years back. The only thing I changed since then, I think, is swapping my HDD for an SSD. But I might try to run it on my laptop as well, see if it works on that.

Maybe it'll work after the upcoming update (I hope so, at least!). But if you have any ideas how to fix this in the meantime, that would be great :).

The only bug that would crash the game was related to the czar but that was patched, If it was mod related i would of fixed it along time ago, but the mod was tested for 20 hours plus before it was related there was no problem found in those test runs.

Guess I'll just have to wait till 2.0 releases and hope that one does work for me...

What ever the problem is I don't think it's related to the mod, what version number is show on the main menu and is it running through steam?
