Hello everyone,

Welcome to the July update for Project : Limit Release, in this update I will be talking about all things related to the dev cycle and how things are going within the growing community.

WARNING: This is a 3D Machinima movie project NOT a game.

(Machinima is a form of animation created using video games or video game engines to render the footage.)

So first of all, thank yo all for the continued support, it is a great motivator and moral booster. After being in talks with various high up members in the Armored Core community, I am now getting support from the official community reps on the Armored Core Facebook fan page, this support is amazing as it allows us to reach more of the community easily and share the project with Armored Core series fans, it is a fantastic opportunity and I would like to take this time to thank everyone involved in making that happen.

The story so far...

So after months of work I am happy to announce that the second draft of the movie script has been completed, the movie script has been in development for the longest time in the entire project, it has been reworked a few times until reaching this second draft. (The original script was scrapped and then the first draft was completely deleted due to a large amount self criticism of my writing ability) So with the second version of the script finished completely and annotated I am now getting together a small group of testers (Who at this point do not seem to mind major spoilers) to go through the script and give advice on what could be changed (If anything).

The community and Social media

The community on the social media side is slowly starting to grow, as I have stated before I believe this could be a very successful community project if done correctly or handled correctly, similar to community campaigns like "Unlock Coral Sea" from Battlefield 1943 which saw the "Coral Sea" level that was locked on launch later unlocked after the community reached a collective count of 43,000,000 kills in multiplayer.

So in the near future we will be arranging community events some of which we plan to be on a weekly basis which the community can get involved in if it wants to help, the best part about it is you could know nothing about Armored Core or not have any idea on how you could contribute to the project but that does not matter.The community events ideas that are yet to be scheduled at the moment include the following:

  1. Live streaming the development process 1-2 times a week (Average live stream showing work as its happening, including talk from the devs)
  2. Q&A with the community once every 4 weeks (Break time when the team sits down for a talk with the community about the project and everything else Armored Core related)
  3. Community Dev workshop 1-3 times a week (A special live stream event in which the community can learn new skills or techniques with various programs to help the project)

The Setup required for these events is something that we will need to sort out soon, mainly as I want to attempt these community events at the beginning of August at the latest.

Project Funding

I am also working on a lot of things on Redbubble in hopes that related artwork might help fund the project on a small level, Clothing, Posters/Mounted Artwork and cases for things like Iphones and Ipads based on things related to the project or from the project will be available in the future for people to purchase and again all funds will go helping the project grow and advance.

the difference is that udk games are standalone, while ut3 mods require...well, ut3. other than that, the technology, workflow, etc are pretty much the same.

The only difference really is that UDK is a free program offered by Epic Games for those who want to play with the Unreal Engine 3 without selling the game. UT3 mods probably use the UDK but it's exclusively used for well... UT3.

To me, this is a good game, although it does not feel like a arena based shooter like its predecessors, this game should have been named Unreal 3 or Unreal Warfare, something to show it is not a tournament, the levels don't look like arenas either, they seem to be battlefields more than a arena, the game was made like it was because of gears of war, it must be the engine or something, I truly think the Unreal Engine 3 was not made for Unreal Tournament, there are no arena based shooters using the UE3.
(Note: if the UE3 was made for Unreal Tournament, then there should have been more Official content from Epic Games, or another UT game, like they did with the UE2, UT2003 and UT2004. But Epic went on the Gears wagon)

As many mentioned, this is the fine example of a game which sold out it's potential as a shameless FPS with no storyline. In all honesty, the Unreal series were standing strong without such things as Plot or Storyline supporting them, and it would seem the implementation of such terms as Respawner and the like in a game called Unreal for a reason seems redundant.
