The goal of this mod is to bring back the units from the original Homeworld into the Homeworld 2 engine, with high quality texture and polycount detail. The campaign and animatics from the original game will also be included.

We took the time to make some explanations of the mod features, talking about the new Gearbox's Homeworld Remastered and having some fun.

After the 1 hour mark I attempted a failed suicide attack, I wish you will like it.

Keep it up guys, Gearbox's Remastering was a total disaster on the Homeworld 1 front.

Not true,Gearbox's Homeworld Remastered is great... they didn't touch the game's history, nor the game mechanics, they just upgraded the graphics and tweaked the UI... Great work

Unfortunately, they kept the "RNG hit system" from Homeworld 2 for BOTH remastered versions.

Homeworld 1 was originally "point and shoot" for ships. Homeworld 2 used a system of "hit chance", hence RNG. Didn't matter how well a gun was aimed, it depended on the RNG getting a good number.

The remastered version of Homeworld 1 got the RNG treatment, for whatever reason. But it REALLY doesn't work when the original game worked on the principle of "if the shot connects visually, it's a hit". So yeah, kind of broken atm...

Dont forget that the formation and tactics are homeworld 2 versions

formations is just strike groups (which explains why they break formation when attacking)

and tactics doesn't change behavior, (like if you put them on aggressive, they will fly slower but will have a increase in fire power.)

There are some minor issues that the devs have already said will be addressed in a patch in the very near future, but as the other respondent noted, the game generally runs incredibly well, has been lovingly recrafted, and has been met with critical (and popular) acclaim.

In case you guys haven't found this out yet, There were a bunch of new gameplay videos posted from various gaming outlets with new HW:RM gameplay, and A few things that I was worried about are good. Namely: 1) Salvage corvettes DO work as they originally did, 2) the building queue, while looking like HW2's, DOES support simultaneous construction :) 3) while collectors do not spin around and suck up asteroids, the team did not change it to be like in HW2, where they would just mine a cluster of asteroids the whole time. Asteroids do make up less than a full load and it will collect from multiple in one run (I was real worried about this).
While I saw no evidence of fuel, :( They do seem to still be making changes up to the last day (For example the ambassador no longer has guns) so I'm hopeful that the fuel and the pew-pew gun sounds will be fixed before release. It's looking better than I thought :)

I would definitively say that I like you guys' models MUCH more than gearbox's. Gearbox, from what I saw, both did less to upgrade the models, and did too much... Like in the Gardens of Kadesh cutscene the ambassador corvette had these huge box-things on it where there were supposed to be just windows... thought it looked weird.

I am also severely disturbed by the fact that the HW1 collector "docked" with an asteroid just like the HW2 ones do, the same thing you guys have done. Would have thought that with their superior ability to manipulate the core engine code, they would have been able to fix this??!! This REALLY worries me.

Krnt Feb 9 2015 replied:

Yeah that worried me too, if I had access to the code I would have made a new class of beam weapon that leeched RUs from the asteroids just like in HW1.
