The goal of this mod is to bring back the units from the original Homeworld into the Homeworld 2 engine, with high quality texture and polycount detail. The campaign and animatics from the original game will also be included.

Hi everyone,

I've been the spokesman of our mod and have been publishing news and comments here. This has happened informally as for most of us modding has been a hobby. I have set new projects with new goals and although I'm always willing to help JK, Moleman and Krnt, I won't be publishing things in the name of HWR. So, no fights, nor vanities, just coherence.

To be honest, you don't loose anything, once I am the less skilled in the team. I just brought this up in the case you notice any new spokesman. HWR has a lot of things done and to be done, but it will be brought by somebody else. Also, at the moment HWR is the mod far ahead of any other concerning HW universe in terms of content. Not because "we are better" and all these vanities, but because most modders are in an interval, waiting for Gearbox and their new technology.

Talking about that, the "new-renderer" statement is powerful, hã? You might not think so, but I've been noticing "old" modders dusting off some ideas, so we should expect good news in the future, not only those brought by Gearbox.

On a side note, would it be possible to work in energy cannons as they worked in Homeworld: Cataclysm? Functionally and overall, they were actually superior to the old mass driver weapons used previously (bullets and heavy shells, basically), yet, the Hiigarans lack the better tech entirely during Homeworld 2 for reasons only the old Relic and Sierra knew.

HW2 mass drivers are far superior to Cata energy weapons, in speed and range, that is why Higs don't use them anymore(maybe?). Also this mod is not about Cataclysm, yet?...

Speed and range weren't the primary focus with the energy cannons as far as I understand. What you lost in range and projectile velocity, you compensated with increased damage, and I think they also had a small amount of auto tracking, so even capital ships could fend off small numbers of strike craft.

I think they also got a noticable increase in the average rate of fire for all applications. And the energy cannons replaced mass drivers on ALL ships. Meaning any cannon that once used bullets got energy cannons, from the smallest acoylte strike craft, all the way to the static hull defenses of the Kuun-Laan.

AH hw 2 uses hit ratios and Cata is not canon it was made by another group.

Well, the only major difference with involvement in Cataclysm was that Barking Dog Studios handled the stuff that Relic did for Homeworld 1 and 2, while Sierra handled their end for all 3 games. That's my understanding, anyway.

Squadrons? we have decided it would be best to keep it as single units instead of the squadron system, our goal is to keep the remastery as true as possible to the original HW1
