One of the first things you may notice in the title is that the "B" is missing from VTMB, this is not an accident. The Final Nights is an expansion to an otherwise flawless video game built upon the success of the Camarilla Edition series of mods. The "B" has been removed because this expansion can no longer bare the name Bloodlines as it is so far removed from the original game as to warrant the name change. The idea behind this expansion is, and always will be the notion of a completely new experience unlike we've seen so far. With 7 completely brand new clans, 5 new disciplines, extra quests, new NPCs, new game mechanics and new music, the features seem endless. All of this is being built upon the Camarilla Edition series incorporating such things as the blood timer system, pedestrian blood dolls, and the new combat system. Combined we feel the name Bloodlines must be removed from this game, and thus we now simply have "The Final Nights".
Dear VTMB Community,
TCI released The Final Nights version 1.4 on New Year's Eve, a couple months ago and we thought we had all of the bugs ironed out. After Todd EVF featured 1.4 on his Twitch broadcast page, he experienced a few issues that didn't make sense. We attempted to track down these bugs without much success and they were unreliable at best.
We went ahead and released 1.4 how it was hoping that the community could play it and report back to us what was going on. You did, and with your help we were able to narrow down the problem and isolate it. Here's a quick run down on what's going on.
1.) Presence 3+ Bug - This is by far the most game breaking of the bugs we encountered. In short, when the player selects Presence level 3 or higher, the behind-the-scenes game mechanic is breaking the Source engine denying the player the active effects of any passive discipline. For example, after taking Presence 3, when you try to use Blood Buff or Blood Heal, you will spend the blood points, see the graphic play, but won't receive the benefits.
2.) Auspex Bug - This bug isn't game breaking, however, the new Auspex system isn't working as intended. We designed it so when the player activates Auspex, a check is made to see if the bonus to Inspection will reveal hidden items. While this is working in some maps, other maps aren't revealing hidden items in real time. We figured out exactly what the problem was and are testing our fix.
3.) Missing dialogue with Strauss about Gargoyles Bug - Again, not a game breaking bug by any stretch of the imagination, however, the missing dialogue will no doubt frustrate many players. We've already fixed this and will be implemented in a hot fix.
Looking to the Future
Right now we have our best python programmer; Childe of Malkav, working on this. He, along with myself and other testers are working to get this resolved as soon as possible. Once all of these issues are fixed, we'll be releasing a hot fix here on ModDB and on our TCI Forum. In the meantime, feel free to play 1.3 or 1.4 (with the bugs). I love this mod! For a while, I felt burned out on playing VtM:B until I found this gem. :D The gameplay difficulty is slightly amped up, which I appreciate, due to all of the modifications. The Camarilla Edition changes to the Blood Healing system, the fact that Haggle is almost necessary, increase in difficulty to Inspection/Seduction [the latter being virtually useless, anyway, but it forces you to "fend for yourself" which seems more realistic]... And I am in *love love love* with the fact that…
