What? A second news article only two days after the last one? Yes! To act on a suggestion of a reader, I will now also summarize the modding activities of fellow LotR-fans. Henceforth every new article will then include some mix between new (re)discoverd mods. I hope you will enjoy the new format, feel free to make suggestions or notify me if I forgot to mention some mod with recent activity!
Battle for Middle-earth
Age of the Ring
After waiting for over one year, the Age of the Ring Development Team finally released a long awaited update, bringing not only two new factions, Rivendell and Rohan, into the game Battle for Middle-earth II: Rise of the Witch King but also eight new ampaign missions and a fully functional and improved War of the Ring mode. Middle-earth Extended Edition
It's not the only recently active BfME-mod though, Rohirim91 released also just a few days ago another update for his mod for Battle for Middle-earth. It includes a completely rewamped Harad faction, now known as Evil Men as well as new content for other factions, besides some balance changes and bug fixes. Somehow his mod escaped all my efforts to find every LotR-mod but now it is listed in the Tolkien Modding Community. [To the update article]
Total War
Heirs of Elendil
In their last progress update the HE Council showed off what they are working at in their submod for Divide and Conquer: Be it the borrowed units for the Gundabad Orcs from Third Age: Reforged and the Alternative Patch mod for for Third Age - Total War to give them more the Hobbit-film design (even though they make the same misstake as many and mistake the Dol Guldur Orcs from the films with the Gundabad ones) or the new strat models for Lindon, the Hotseat Compatibility or the plenty of reworked scripts (I really love the idea of the Marriage Script at which the player can decide for Aragorn to either marry Arwen or Eowyn), the team is hardworking and fans can look forward for the next release! [To the progress article]
Third Age: Reforged
Team Reforged has also been hard-working and have released 'Patch .97 - An Unexpected Journey' at the beginning of July. Beside balance fixes it also contains three new factions with distinct rosters and play styles (Numenor, Dorwinion and The Shire), progress information about the factions Ered Luin and Dol Guldur and some new units and reskins of existing units they also inform about their new campaign mode, the UI/Sound Overhaul and a bunch of new maps. Total War: Rise of Mordor
On a minor note, the Total War: Rise of Mordor - Development Team is watching out for new team members. If you have modding skills or are planning to work yourself into it, this might be a good opportunity to join a mod-team. [To the recruitment article]
Mount & Blade
Middle Earth at War
Easterling wrote a few notes about his troops in the upcoming update for his mod for Mount & Blade: Warband. Sadly he didn't wrote any note about the release date. [To the update article]
TLD Overhaul
Some progress news of the TLDO Team of which I am member from, of trouble with Goblins around the Erebor and other happenings. [To the progress article]
Moria Orc by DarthMongolTheUnwise on Sketchfab
Crusader Kings II
CK2: Middle Earth Project (CK2:MEP)
Besides the big three there are also some eagerly working LotR fans at other games like Crusader Kings II. The CK2: MEP Team released another update, version 0.826 meanwhile, with some corrected histories for several characters to reflect their sailing west, some vanilla events added back and general bug fixing. World of Middle Earth - WOME
Working on an own game, MikeTheEmperor is slowly progressing with his project for roleplay game in Middle-Earth, testing recently the first user interface. [To the progress article]
That's it for today! Feel free to make suggestions for the next articles. The Tolkien Modding Community Discord has also been updated and includes now plenty of channels for actively developed mods (not all are present yet).
It's intention is to find other mods (for perhaps other games) which are developed by fellow LotR fans, to discuss about Lore or Art work. The main purpose there is not to discuss intensively about mods, for this the linking to the respective mod's discords are given but to link modders and gamers across different games which are united by the love for the work of Tolkien. So if you want to be in a LotR crossgame discord feel free to join!
To enter into the community you have to solve a riddle after joining but for a true LotR fan that shouldn't be so hard ^^ Discord.gg
Best regards,
Earendil

You forgot Kingdoms of Arda. Moddb.com
Not really, they have released no update news article in the last two months. Some new pictures, yes, but I first wanted to cover those who have written articles ^^
The Third Age of Middle-earth for Mount and Blade Warband is worth mentioning: Moddb.com
That last update (Aug 6) from the author can be found in the comment section.
I have that mod in mind, I am in contact with one of the developers. Only there are no news from the last two month so I didn't cover it. I have a eye on them though ^^
