MiddleEarthProject is a full conversion Tolkien mod for Crusader Kings 2 which will feature bookmarks throughout the Third Age. This mod is being developed independently from any other LotR or Middle Earth mods out there. The map will cover the main areas of Middle Earth, known in the books and films.

So, Middle-Earth is waiting for you! Will you play as the descendant of one of the noble families of Rohan or Gondor?
Will you try to reforge the ancient kingdoms of Elves in Eriador? Or will you try to destroy all the Free Peoples, and claim Middle Earth for Morgoth?
This mod will give you a unique strategy experience of the Third Age in Middle-Earth. From Forodwaith to Bellakar, from Lindon to Rhûn, lead your dynasty and survive the Dark Times. Become one of the most important Lords of the Age!



INSTALLATION GUIDE
1/ Download the mod, and open the .zip file with an archiving program like 7zip.
2/ If you have a former version of the mod, remove it entirely, the folder and .mod file.
2/ Extract 'Middle Earth.zip' in your "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings 2/mod" directory
3/ Launch the Game, and enjoy!

Middle Earth Project 0.828


MEP is an overhaul mod attempting to bring the world of Tolkien to playability in Crusader Kings 2.

The MEP Team’s hope is to allow players to experience Tolkien’s world of Arda, spanning from Angmar and the Iron Mountains in the North, The Harad Desert to the south, the Great Sea to the west, and Rhun to the east. As well as enjoy that world from a number of different perspectives, be that a Great King of Gondor, the Dark Lord Sauron, a noble Elf-lord, or a blood member of the Orkish Hordes.

Outside of this Version the mod is not likely to function properly, including crashing.

Hi, I'm wondering about colonization/purging of Tyrn Gothard, Fornost etc. Is there still possible to get Dagger of Westernesse, Arvedui armor and other things you could get when you were reclaiming those lands or you delete that artifacts?

i jumped back to year one and nothing was there, Morgoths 2 fortresses with sauron commanding one of the doesnt exist neither the firt elf in the elf awakening and neither the war of the juvels with no Feanor who can get himself killed destroying the fortress of angbad

We have not ever dealt with First Age material, that has gone to Porkenstein's Silmarillion mod so far. It has its own map representing the FA world a ton better. That is what you are looking for...

I'm glad to see this mod is still progressing! I think the new mechanics introduced in the new expansions could be really awesome in the mod. Orcs could pillage settlements, destroying the towns and temples that they control. We could make use of the Tribal and Nomadic governments. The events that create new holding slots, from properity or Great Works, could be naturally used to rebuild the West post-Sauron. I think the reforming religions ability would be awesome to use to dynamically refound the United Kingdom under Elessar. I think unreforming a religion is not in the base game, but I've heard it's possible by editing save files. I think that would be a good way to model a break up between Gondor and Arnor. Overall, I think fewer elements of the settings need to manually janked into position with the all the new features. Heck, the base game has immortal characters now! Very cool.

Nomads were in, but we couldn't get them working correctly (also, they are tough to really set up well in history).

not really big on leaning on vanilla since most stuff we can develop our own things for and save on the headaches of update maintenance, plus it'll be all our own and so can take pride in it.

Though we'll probably eventually convert rhun to nomads.

there's the old kingdoms objectives, one of which is to reform the uni5ed kingdom as either gondor or arnor.

My impression is that the crashing and other problems can be traced back to the ten million traits and events created by the original mod. One would think that relying on the base game as much as possible would greatly improve stability.

we removed most of both,believe there's actually less than vanilla now. Events in the mod should be about as error free as report tools allow us to make them.

This mod is a work-in-progress. All the same, it is very good. Being able to role-play with characters from the Tolkien Legendarium at the same time as I engage in grand strategy is great. Being able to add one's own flavour to Middle Earth's history is something I think is truly rewarding. The modder has gone into a lot of detail to make the base game fit the specifications of Arda and its history what with all the intricate family trees that are unnecessary but oh so lovely.
