StargateTC2 - Patch 1 for Beta 1
Jul 11, 2008 Patch 7 commentsStargateTC2 - Patch 1 for Beta 1 Introduction of a shooting cone for the staff (its precision is no more 100%) The balance of some weapons has been reviewed...
StarGate Total Conversion 2 (also known as SGTC 2) is a Half-Life 2 mod taking place in the world created by the TV show Stargate.
The name "Total Conversion" indicates SGTC 2 is a mod where no part of the original Half-Life 2 game is still used. We created all the models, all the maps, all the sounds and an entirely new gameplay by ourselves to fit them as much as possible to the Stargate world. You won't thus hear combine radio noises, see any HL2 grenade or recognize anything from HL2 when playing SGTC 2 matches.
One of our most important objectives for the SGTC 2 design is to stick as much as possible to the show spirit. Therefore the mod contains the most famous weapons seen in the show (P90, zat’nik’tel, goa’uld staff…) as well as the features of the various factions (Tau'ri, Goa'uld, Wraiths..) and of the typical artifacts of the Stargate world : you will delight in spilling some goa'uld blood with a whole clip of bully P90 ammos or on the other side to inflict extreme pain to these pathetic Tau'ris thanks to your zat’nik’tel.
Some minor adaptations were however considered to correct some show inconsistencies or imbalances (nobody likes dying after a single staff blast for instance), to find a better balance between factions opposing each other in the TV show and thus to improve your game experience.
An exclusive feature of SGTC 2 is its exceptionnal stargate whose gate address dialing system on the DHD is an accurate copy of the show system. Every dialed address must be valid to open the gate and it's up to you, the player, to manually enter the address by pushing the right DHD symbols (We told you! We stick to the show!). To assist you in entering the address, a menu displaying the most important gate addresses was coded in-game. Will you take up the challenge of entering Earth address on the DHD under a heavy fire and orbital bombing, while keeping calm and without making mistakes in the address?
Benefiting by the most up to date technical breakthroughs of the Source engine, SGTC 2 plans on reaching a flawless graphical quality to give you a feeling of complete immersion in the show. We care a lot about sound atmosphere and about the mod introduction musics. The feeling of being part of the world described by the TV show will be complete in SGTC 2 : high stress combat situations where your P90 blazes while goa'uld staff blasts hiss past your ears, face to face duels between Teal’C and some goa’uld god, staggering air combat with X-303 and Death Gliders and so much more will never give you the impression of just playing in front of your computer.
We are fully aware of the gameplay importance and we give extra care to the maps, the game rules and the balance of weapon powers to make SGTC 2 the best Stargate mod for the Source engine. You will never regret playing SGTC 2!
We can already announce the first playable versions of SGTC 2 will focus on ground combats between earthlings (Tau'ris) and jaffas (Goa'uld). Air combats, Wraiths, replicators and Oris will be included in future versions. For further information, see our website (Stargatetc2.com) and our forum (Stargatetc2.com). Any suggestion for the mod is welcome!

Hi everybody!
One week ago, it was the release day. We have received several positive and negative (but constructive) reviews and we are grateful to you for that.
It's the beta purpose: to debug and to improve what is not good engouh. Keep on posting your bug reports in the Bug Reporting forum and your comments on gameplay and other such feedbacks in the Feedback & Gameplay, that's all we ask for.
Let's go for a brief statistics checkup. The SGTC2 beta 1 has...
We have already seen a lot of unofficial maps on the servers but do not hesitate to submit them on our forum! If they are good enough, the devteam will directly add them in the Updater, in the Community Area.
This will spread your map to as many players as possible!
Let's move on to the main part of this news: the first Update!
Here is its changelog :
There are 2 updates: first the update of the updater, and then the update of the mod. This update is both on client and server sides.
----------------------
On the client side, 3 options:
* Go to the "updater" directory of StargateTC 2 (Ex: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\stargatetc2\updater\) and click on SGTC2_Updater.exe . Click then on the upper right button labelled UPDATE NOW:

The Community Area button gives you access to the download panel for unofficial content, which is made by you, the Community. This content has to be subimtted on the forum to be added in the unofficial content.
If you encounter problems with the mod, you can download the updates from a chosen update number in the lower right corner of the updater (this avoids having to reinstall the whole mod).
* OR download an old fashioned patch:
* OR run the game without directly joining a server. The following message will be displayed:

Click on Update. The Updater is then launched (see above)
----------------------
To update the server side, see the User guide/Manual (or the PDF manual).
Official SGTC2 servers are already updated with the last patch.
---------------------
Besides this, the devteam has been modified. Among other changes, McKay leaves his mapper position and Speed will leave us soon when his map projects are over. We would like to warmly thank Anders who helped a lot to release this first SGTC2 beta. The new devteam composition can be seen in the Devteam section of the website.
Finally, after the suggestion of some english speaking members, the forum has been reorganised. This way, every new comer should clearly find what he/she looks for! You now have a General Discussion forum (about SGTC2), a Help and Support forum for the tutorials and to help solving game problems, a Bug report forum to write down your bug reports and a Feedback & Gameplay forum where you can give us your impressions and advices about the weapons balance, game style and so on.
We are still looking for mappers, modelers of props, weapons and/or characters and animaters. Anybody familiar with one of these skills and motivated is welcome!
Have fun on SGTC2!
Best regards,
The StargateTC2 devteam

Hey guys,I have an idea for a map. How about one set in space, where the SGC starts on the Prometheus, and uses the Teleporters, to beam over to a Ha'tak, grab a Power core for the Prometheus, then they have to return to it, and put it back in the Prometheus. Meanwhile the Goa'uld have to get aboard, destroy the shields, then they have to return to the Bridge and fire the weapons to destroy the Prometheus to claim victory.
FINALLY...!! I managed to get onto a server!! lol... It was a custom map but meh! I got to play! :D
Anyway... this is really good so far! I aint got much crits! The only thing I found tho' that the Staff fired a little off to the right of where the cross-hair was aimed and that took a little getting used to! But besides that, pretty excellent so far!
Because it was a custom map I managed to play I can't really comment yet on the maps included in release from a gameplay point of view, But what I can comment on are the player models, weapons and animations... And all of which I can say where pretty awesome!!The balance of damage done between each weapon are pretty spot on too IMO!
So... The day TC2 was released I rated it 7/10... Only 7 because I couldn't log onto a server and HL2 kept crashing :( But now that I've played I've changed that to 9/10..! Sort the staff weapon aim in the next patch and I'll change again to 10/10! ;)
Why do i get kicked because of ping and you DESTORY the ping-kick!?
It's the admin plugin who kick highping player, use a other server.
Hmmmmm.... Difficult to score this mod. Sure its the beta stage but it needs tons of work. Some of the animations are bad and the map design is very poor imo.
What this mod needs most of all though is some variety, it gets boring so fast and with the fact that it is a stargate mod you would think some of the unique features of the series would be captured in the mod. Sadly, its just a basic team deathmatch. Many of the Stargate maps on CSS had more interactivity than this.
Hopefully for the future we can have huge battles over many different worlds, think a sort of Call of Duty 4 domination style gameplay but instead of capturing flags, you capture different worlds untill you hold all of them. SG1 obviously could start in the SGC with there main goal being to take fight and take over different planets untill they make it to the Go'uld mothership. You would use the stargates to travel from world to world and that would be more true to the series than just a generic deathmatch. This mod has alot of potential, dont waste it
That sounds like a cool idea for a gamemode. nice 1 dude
Earth gate adres is not true :(
awesome mod. i had a great time playing it, but sometimes its kinda empty. most of the animations are a bit stiff, but thatll improve with age. 10/10, if you continue to update it.
