As you already know, we are now a few days away from the StargateTC 2 release! Here are the links for the server version of the mod (Windows and Linux)! Both for the public version, which will be released on friday or for the server version, we have approximately 10 gbits bandwidth available. There shouldn't be any speed problem during downloads.

Here are the links of the server version of the mod (Windows and Linux):

Link nr 1
Link nr 2

We have put online a part of our manual in the website section called Manual: here. You will find there help if you run through problems to install the server version of SGTC 2.

Important note: It is adviced to create servers with a maximum of 16 slots as the maps are not fit for more players.

If you need advice to set up your server, we will do our best to help you either on the forum or on irc (#sgtc2 network Quakenet ) if the manual doesn't give an answer to your questions.

Creating your own server is not the only content of this news. We would like the community to be able to create its own maps for SGTC 2 and therefore we hereby release a "Developement Kit" for StargateTC 2. Designed for the mappers, it contains the mod "FGD", the "Gate Creator" and its manual (which allows to create and to configure the Stargates in two clicks), a test map source file and a summary of the various mod entities.

Creating you own map is cool, but sharing it with the community can be pretty hard.

It is time to introduce you to a tool which served us well during the mod development: the Updater. It's a small program meant to keep the mod updated on the dev-team members computers. It has avoided the mod a lot of file losses or bad versions problems.
In short, this small tool will be available with the beta. You can either download the mod with this updater or with an executable file (the classic way).

This updater keeps the mod (client AND server versions) up to date without having to download and install patches (just like Steam). An interesting feature of this updater is its ability to propose custom content (mainly maps). The SGTC 1 experience has shown us that a mod lives at least as much with its custom maps than with its official maps.

Therefore, if a custom map becomes popular, you will get to propose it to the entire StargateTC 2 player community (once the dev-team agreement is obtained of course).

To end this news, we would like to notice you that a Devblog article was put online a couple of days ago. It shows how does the SGTC 2 Stargate system works with a 2 minutes long movie. Have a look at it so you won't get left behind or called newbie ingame! Cheesy

And as usual, here are a couple of ingame screens. (Last minute add: We know that a goauld seems to be flying on one of these screens, thanks to the Source Engine...)

Finally, here is a screen taken a couple of hours ago during a massive test ( 8 vs 8 ). It shows you a goa'uld rush to defend the Stargate on pilak. This map has been through a lot of modifications lately in comparison with what we have shown previously. You will discover it in a few days anyway. Notice a Tauri smoke effect on the left side of the screen and a Zat corpse disintegration in the background, near the Stargate.

About the mod release, the date is stilll July 4th at 12 o'clock GMT+1! The links will first be available on IRC (#sgtc2 on the Quakenet server) at approximately 11 o'clock and then on the official website at noon and finally on the world wide web!

We also would like to express our sadness due to the decease on this Sunday of Don S. Davis, who played the role of General Hammond during 7 seasons of Stargate SG1 and made guest appearances in ulterior seasons and in the Stargate Atlantis show. A great actor has passed away.

If you have any question, feel free to ask! We will do our best to answer.

Best regards,

The StargateTC2.com team

not to be a troll or anything, but why does a TC have explosion animations from hl2 ??? that being said, this looks like a good mod sofar, i am intrested in what gametype it might be , and how it will play out. Stargate sure seams to be popular these days, there sure are a lot of mods at least. Hope this one turns out good, god knows hl2 needs all the good mods it can.

Some people are so funny.

They don't even take 1 minute to read the description, they just want to click the download and play the mod even if isn't released.

I'll admit that I am not a huge Stargate fan but the mod looks like it is well done and of high quality so I'll check it out. I am not really doing anything this 4th of July so it sounds like a good time to try something new ;)

Awesome, didn't realize release was so so close now.
Loved the mod on the HL1 engine.

Also, RIP Don S. Davis... Hammond of Texas.
