One week ago, it was the release day. We have received several positive and negative (but constructive) reviews and we are grateful to you for that. Hi everybody!
One week ago, it was the release day. We have received several positive and negative (but constructive) reviews and we are grateful to you for that.
It's the beta purpose: to debug and to improve what is not good engouh. Keep on posting your bug reports in the Bug Reporting forum and your comments on gameplay and other such feedbacks in the Feedback & Gameplay, that's all we ask for.
Let's go for a brief statistics checkup. The SGTC2 beta 1 has...
We have already seen a lot of unofficial maps on the servers but do not hesitate to submit them on our forum! If they are good enough, the devteam will directly add them in the Updater, in the Community Area.
This will spread your map to as many players as possible!
Let's move on to the main part of this news: the first Update!
Here is its changelog :
There are 2 updates: first the update of the updater, and then the update of the mod. This update is both on client and server sides.
----------------------
On the client side, 3 options:
* Go to the "updater" directory of StargateTC 2 (Ex: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\stargatetc2\updater\) and click on SGTC2_Updater.exe . Click then on the upper right button labelled UPDATE NOW:

The Community Area button gives you access to the download panel for unofficial content, which is made by you, the Community. This content has to be subimtted on the forum to be added in the unofficial content.
If you encounter problems with the mod, you can download the updates from a chosen update number in the lower right corner of the updater (this avoids having to reinstall the whole mod).
* OR download an old fashioned patch:
* OR run the game without directly joining a server. The following message will be displayed:

Click on Update. The Updater is then launched (see above)
----------------------
To update the server side, see the User guide/Manual (or the PDF manual).
Official SGTC2 servers are already updated with the last patch.
---------------------
Besides this, the devteam has been modified. Among other changes, McKay leaves his mapper position and Speed will leave us soon when his map projects are over. We would like to warmly thank Anders who helped a lot to release this first SGTC2 beta. The new devteam composition can be seen in the Devteam section of the website.
Finally, after the suggestion of some english speaking members, the forum has been reorganised. This way, every new comer should clearly find what he/she looks for! You now have a General Discussion forum (about SGTC2), a Help and Support forum for the tutorials and to help solving game problems, a Bug report forum to write down your bug reports and a Feedback & Gameplay forum where you can give us your impressions and advices about the weapons balance, game style and so on.
We are still looking for mappers, modelers of props, weapons and/or characters and animaters. Anybody familiar with one of these skills and motivated is welcome!
Have fun on SGTC2!
Best regards,
The StargateTC2 devteam

Nice touch to give the mod an updater, as this is not normally seen.. nice thinking... and a quick patch release is welcome as well...
