StargateTC2 - Patch 1 for Beta 1
Jul 11, 2008 Patch 7 commentsStargateTC2 - Patch 1 for Beta 1 Introduction of a shooting cone for the staff (its precision is no more 100%) The balance of some weapons has been reviewed...
StarGate Total Conversion 2 (also known as SGTC 2) is a Half-Life 2 mod taking place in the world created by the TV show Stargate.
The name "Total Conversion" indicates SGTC 2 is a mod where no part of the original Half-Life 2 game is still used. We created all the models, all the maps, all the sounds and an entirely new gameplay by ourselves to fit them as much as possible to the Stargate world. You won't thus hear combine radio noises, see any HL2 grenade or recognize anything from HL2 when playing SGTC 2 matches.
One of our most important objectives for the SGTC 2 design is to stick as much as possible to the show spirit. Therefore the mod contains the most famous weapons seen in the show (P90, zat’nik’tel, goa’uld staff…) as well as the features of the various factions (Tau'ri, Goa'uld, Wraiths..) and of the typical artifacts of the Stargate world : you will delight in spilling some goa'uld blood with a whole clip of bully P90 ammos or on the other side to inflict extreme pain to these pathetic Tau'ris thanks to your zat’nik’tel.
Some minor adaptations were however considered to correct some show inconsistencies or imbalances (nobody likes dying after a single staff blast for instance), to find a better balance between factions opposing each other in the TV show and thus to improve your game experience.
An exclusive feature of SGTC 2 is its exceptionnal stargate whose gate address dialing system on the DHD is an accurate copy of the show system. Every dialed address must be valid to open the gate and it's up to you, the player, to manually enter the address by pushing the right DHD symbols (We told you! We stick to the show!). To assist you in entering the address, a menu displaying the most important gate addresses was coded in-game. Will you take up the challenge of entering Earth address on the DHD under a heavy fire and orbital bombing, while keeping calm and without making mistakes in the address?
Benefiting by the most up to date technical breakthroughs of the Source engine, SGTC 2 plans on reaching a flawless graphical quality to give you a feeling of complete immersion in the show. We care a lot about sound atmosphere and about the mod introduction musics. The feeling of being part of the world described by the TV show will be complete in SGTC 2 : high stress combat situations where your P90 blazes while goa'uld staff blasts hiss past your ears, face to face duels between Teal’C and some goa’uld god, staggering air combat with X-303 and Death Gliders and so much more will never give you the impression of just playing in front of your computer.
We are fully aware of the gameplay importance and we give extra care to the maps, the game rules and the balance of weapon powers to make SGTC 2 the best Stargate mod for the Source engine. You will never regret playing SGTC 2!
We can already announce the first playable versions of SGTC 2 will focus on ground combats between earthlings (Tau'ris) and jaffas (Goa'uld). Air combats, Wraiths, replicators and Oris will be included in future versions. For further information, see our website (Stargatetc2.com) and our forum (Stargatetc2.com). Any suggestion for the mod is welcome!

One month without any news is a long time but we will attempt to make you forget this waiting period with what follows. Summary: some hot pieces of information about your favorite mod and a couple of screens. Our models are completed and we are currently adding the last components to the maps. The server version of the mod is ready and all the bugs are theoretically fixed.
Some of you may think that a Stargate mod should have been released a long time ago. We hope that we will fullfill this expectation. Although everything won't go smooth after the release, we will try to fix the bugs or flaws that may appear as fast as we can. Let's move on to the last updates of the mod:
The Hud has been completely re-designed:

Same goes for the goa'uld forearms:
Here are a few screens of the unscoped/scoped sniper rifle (hk msg90):
We would like to mention that we are still looking for new talents (level designers, modelers and one speed art.) Now that the thresholds of 500 topics, 10 000 messages and 300 members are passed on the forum, we think that it is our duty to answer the question everybody asks: When will StargateTC 2 be released?
Yes, StargateTC 2 will be released in approximately 2 weeks !
The server version will be released around July 1st, 2008. If it's possible for you, please run one or two servers for SGTC2
. If you have servers able to mirror the beta for July 4th, 2008, please contact us at stargatetc2 [at] gmail [dot] com.
Best regards.

It says single and multiplayer, but cant find out how to play it in single player.
I love the concept and what the mod was out to accomplish; on that you have my commendation. However, the load time seem a tad on the slow side, even for local servers. I believe that the human arm skins could use more detail as well as touch ups to the skin/model/animations for the FN P90. I too was hoping there would be moregate interaction. Perhaps make a gametype that uses different worlds similar to Battlefield 2 gameplay? Tau'ri start from the SGC and the Goa'uld start from a system lord mothership or something. Have a few worlds in between and hop back and forth depending on how the local battles go fare at those sites. Eventually, one team opens a wormhole from the last site the the other team's base for the final hour. Maybe just have the teams start in their respective bases like a prep or ready room before heading off world. I think that would be neat for any game type, just my two cents. Once again, nice work!
sadly, i feel a bit let down, i want to be able to be hanging around in my quarters and hearing the offworld alarm, rushing to the gate to blast some scum, in other words i think there needs to be more use of the stargates rather than go through 'soandso wins' a bit like th Cs:s maps
So far its beta 1. And the matter you described is simply something that can be fixed by making a map that does that. Im trying that atm ;P so have patience.
so far im happy with the beta. I thank you for all the hard work you have put into this. This mod reminds me of the great SG battles and that warm feeling when i walk through the gate, then i get my head blown off by a staff blast
It's good but too many laggy servers
yeah ive noticed that too when i join a server it Lags horribly. and eventually when a team wins i get a bit of a lag spike aswell.
hey i need help on this i join a server then after a minute or two it crashes
Some of the worst animations ive ever seen, especialy on the p90.
yes I understand it I just wanted to give you my opinion thank you for answering :)
