I'm a game programmer trying to get into the industry. I'm working on several projects at any given time. I play and review mods all the time because I love to see user made content.

(I also think the voice actors are lacking but understand that you're working with what you have. I have to say the female voice actor you used for engineering isn't bad at all)

Also I have some genuinely friendly advice for you. I know how exciting it is to start a project, and create something... but you should wait a bit longer before you do a media release. Perhaps you should actually finish the area and maybe record a video or add in game screenshot instead of a screenshot of game creator. Good luck!

As a developer and critique of usability do you have any idea how many problems allowing your OS to fragment over so many phones there are?

Well, if you didn't it's a lot. Companies who use Android should NOT be allowed to modify android by implementing their own UI or modifying the operating system. I'm sorry but those companies are NOT UI experts and just produce garbage. A smart phone developer keeps their system either locked to one device, or restricts their OS to regulations. The only phones that do that are WP7 and iOS.

Open systems and software are not always the best choice, in fact some times it causes more problems than it's worth.

The entire UI system is completely garbage. Did you even spend more than 5 minutes building the UI or did you just import an external UI library and throw everything together?

Everything hardly works. I clicked login and then hit cancel because I didn't have a login but it logged me in anyway successfully. Are you kidding me?

The only constructive criticism I can give is that you need to pull this off and take some time to actually care about your product. This kind of stuff is why game development isn't moving forward as a craft.

The UI needs a lot of work. It's almost the opposite of user friendly. Although there are a lot larger problems with the interface I've made a few suggestions here: I.imgur.com If you're going to build a UI based game you really need to study and focus on the UI more. Usability is the #1 downfall of these types of games.

* ALL the text is bold and not just important text or titles
* All the text is centered within the panels
* Upgrade to level X does not look like a link/button. Replace it with some kind of up arrow that you can click on as well as the text which should be underlined as users associate underlined text with links that navigate (I assume this navigates in your game)
* Your background really irks me because it's black on one side and appears to be an image background on the other side. IT's incredibly unbalanced.
* You've ALREADY established an image association with your resources so why are you using text for your requirements?
* Using copyright images. Those are the minerals from Starcraft.
* Perhaps the Fields should be displayed as a resource at the top like minerals, crystal, or deuterium and not in a badly formatted way specifically on this page. I don't really know what it's used for so I can't comment well here.

The game itself was actually pretty fun but the controls were horrible, mainly because it's unintuitive for an RTS. It's not entirely your fault because it's made in flash.

However, some things that really bugged me were that I'd tell my ships to move when I wanted to deselect them. I couldn't right click to tell my ships to perform actions and that's pretty standard in an RTS.

I started following your project and looking at your website. It's horribly obvious that you need a project designer badly. I started to look at some of the articles written on your website, primarily the one where you talk about UI. You start talking about how you have interfaces built in HTML and I'm so sorry but you are making such a huge mistake.

Your game clearly reflects the fact that you have no one in charge of your marketing, PR, or design. I'm not saying this to make you angry but you are making some HORRIBLE decisions as developers and it's so very, very clear. You should raise your standards a bit. If you don't have a UI, find a cross platform UI framework or build your own. Do it correctly or you'll just regret it in the end.

Don't set low standards for yourselves. Make a good game.

I like how you took a single mention of rendering engine I made and completely focused on that. What you should have done is realize I was judging it on multiple decisions (as I clearly listed) and not just graphics. Though your probably too narrow-visioned to realize that.

Usability, the integration of social features, and the fact that they used Unity are all decisions a developer makes and reflects their ability to develop and lead a team.

I actually had to do a bit of research myself, Cubelands only started 4 months after Minecraft but it's obvious that you are significantly more talented than the Minecraft developer. This looks far more polished and well developed than Minecraft. I'm pretty happy to see more talented developers taking ideas which could be executed better and improving on them.

Spend some time polishing your menus, the general idea of the game seems fun and challenging. Considering the idea of the game seems to be about lights, have it fade out when you select menu items. You have a lot of polish to go but I think in the end it looks like you've got a good start.

I found this very useful as a programmer however I find that your node pattern is not logical to someone using your editor. I would personally prefer the previous as it's more logical to a designer. I've actually tested the prototype with multiple people and I've received very very positive feedback as a whole. Just wait and watch it evolve and you'll see it become a great game.

Something to note is that main menu levels are often not used because they delay the time from when you start up the game, to when you get to play the game.

Not only do you have to wait for that level to load, but you also have to navigate to your level. It's just an important point you might want to consider.

Very interesting although I would love to have had a simple explanation on how the entire AI system works with nodes. You've explained how to do it but not how it works which I feel is the most important part. Although I can gather that some how Source builds the node graph using it's own algorithms and then when an NPC is supposed to move to a node destination it uses the node graph to pick which nodes to use to travel.

(I did not mean to reply to the freaking dog guy. I hate that dog it always stares me in the face like a ******* freak as if it wishes to take my very soul)

It needs a completely new animation and probably some modifications to how the crow bar works so it uses a different animation for each punch as if you were using boxing gloves. Right now it looks very synthetic an cheesy.

All you have to say to me is that your team is writing custom C++ overloads through the exposed DLL and I'll understand, because that's the only way to mod a source game. Source games are powered by the DLL's provided to the modder that you modify. That's all im looking for.

The reason I was questioning this possibility is because L4D does not expose this unlike other source games.

Apperantly you don't understand. You can't mod L4D like a HL2 mod. They do not expose a DLL for you to modify. Unless im wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not on the exposing of the DLL. So don't insult me so fast before you think next time. Source mods use DLL's that you plug into the game that overload the in game methods and functions. So, again my point is, how is this going to be possible?

For one, how are you even going to accomplish this without a real SDK? You cannot make gameplay changes. I don't see the plausability of this mod. Are you going to reverse engineer the assembly for the L4D DLL?

Also, how are you going to represent a changing environment in a linear map? Or if it's not linear, are you going to represent a changing environment that makes sense in a non-linear map? Most of all, are you sure non-linear maps are going to work in a Left 4 Dead sceanario? I see your gameplay system is different, so I'm sure you'll create maps to meet the needs of your gameplay.

Good luck but again, I don't see how your even going to do this unless you find a way to run metamod scripts or something in Left 4 Dead.

What Valve released is hardly an SDK. Oh boy, I can do EVERYTHING I could do since the release of the game. The SDK doesn't let you do half the things an SDK should that valve has released. You can't make gameplay changes, PERIOD because Valve decided not to let people. No gameplay changes, nothing. End of Story.

The only problem is simple mapping and aesthetics are not the only issue. There are severe gameplay issues with L4D1 and lack of content that people are upset with. Valve is acting like a Console developer over Left 4 Dead and the community is just now beginning to realize this.

I bet even some of the Zerg gamers who play Left 4 Dead (the majority of L4D players) are coming to realise this as well.

The real solution would be to release the SDK for L4D and release L4D as a cheap expansion. I don't know why they are releasing an entire new game anyway theres almost 0 new content. If modders had the SKD there would be far more custom content and gameplay changes than Valve could count which would increase sales ten fold on the original game.

Valve is an intelligent company. They will not charge for the update. Valve understands how PC gaming works is really what it comes down too. What are you talking about? There are no AI Nodes in Left 4 Dead. The zombies spawn procedurally. The only thing you have to do for the AI is add invisible solids on objects so they can use them as a climbing point.

Also, I have been following this map for awhile. Really impressive. Perhaps you might even take this further and branch this out into separate levels, or make more levels that go past the mall.

Agreed. I think the map needs a little bit more detail. I believe the buildings need especially a bit more detail. Try creating some destruction debris and more detail outside. The main focus here is the buildings to me which im not seeing enough detail on.

Quick question, in the Strider battle at the End of Episode 2, you see a very large Mountain in the distance. This mountain is the area to which all striders from from in the battle. Is there any chance this is the same mountain from Strider Mountain? They look very similar. That would be really badass if you had planned that.

Yeah, you've done alot of good work however at this point in gaming WoW no longer stands for another Warcraft game that Warcraft fans love but instead something that most gamers appose. Of course I say this as just another elitest angry Blizzard fan.

I assume your going to redo the combat system for melee combat that doesn't blow? Because the knife combat in 2142 is really screwed up.

I doubt there is, because someone most likely would have posted a tutorial on it. The PS3 is still very primitive in technology, especially since its still in its infant stage of modding I don't mean to state the obvious but: Just buy a PC. :) You'll be glad you did.

I cant say I agree there, Steam was really flawed at the start but I think at this point Steam is one of the most solid dependable services there is. I don't even bother to buy games in the store anymore unless I absolutely HAVE to. (Especially if EA makes it, then I just won't buy it at all )

Kane and Lynch forces you to use an XBox controller and use Splitscreen on the Pc because they thought people had low standards for games and would just put up with that kind of garbage. Theres other games that try to force you to do that too.

With the invention of the internet i'll personally probably never use split screen but it seems like a cool feature. Splitscreen is so old gen, I heard console gamers were still using splitscreen to play multiplayer games. :P

There is a mod like this for Unreal 2k4 thats multiplayer and very popular. Maybe after your done with the initial release you can start brain storming for multiplayer mode for a later release? That would blow alot of peoples mind. :)

I just think a lot of people here don't normally play BF2142 because its not really all that modded, atleast in comparison to the source engine. That looks pretty good. While I've never heard of Bandits I think what your doing is very cool. That cannon makes you feel like your really hitting a punch with the recoil effect, car gibs physics, and explosion. Very nice.

It's very interesting to see mods to games you haven't played because it introduces you to new games that you may never have thought of trying.

A general description of my goal is the nunchuck and the wii mote will both be used. Using the nun-chuck you will move, and can wield a shield, a second weapon, or if your using two hands, must use that for your two handed weapons. (I am still planning this out)

Everything is one touch so your going to have to learn to menuver your equipment to defend yourself. The rules will be very similar to real Dagorhir so visit their website if you need to learn more.
