I'm a game programmer trying to get into the industry. I'm working on several projects at any given time. I play and review mods all the time because I love to see user made content.
Wow, look at that! ANOTHER Voxel game. You're real original aren't you?
Oh? But yours is different? Oh really. Your trailer totally shows all the differences your game has besides the myriad of other voxel games. Welcome to the pile.
Please don't put images like this that you cannot click on. This should be removed from the front page. It does not meet the minimum criteria. Link this image to the real image so it's clickable, thanks.
This game looks really neat, I'm definitely going to pick it up for my iPhone.
That is a really nice looking game! I really like the video and the fun concept. I'm definitely going to buy this.
Wow, that is a great idea for a game. I really dig this.
I have been playing NS2 since I got in the beta and every time one of these updates comes out the difference is massive.
The thing is he's hiding the fact that he doesn't think games with no combat are valid games in the guise that "you can do what you want" but I just disapprove of it. What he's basically saying is that this game is pointless because it has no combat. He's hiding subtle insults in his post and that annoys me.
Please ignore that guy, I can only imagine he's a complete fool for saying that. Only the most densest of tools would say something like that and you don't want to make games for them anyway.
This looks absolutely fenominal. I am extremely shocked by the production quality in such a mod. Keep up the good work you are doing amazing things. This may be one of the most under-rated mods on ModDB to be honest.
(I also think the voice actors are lacking but understand that you're working with what you have. I have to say the female voice actor you used for engineering isn't bad at all)
Fantastic, I'm gonna go test it right now.
Tatsur0, I see you as a veteran member of this community and I very much respect your opinions and agree with you here. Seeing your post down voted makes me a bit sad.
The way these people approach this announcement is very disappointing.
Me gusta. This is one of my favorite war games of all time. The production quality on RnL is higher than a lot of triple A titles. I can't wait to play this update.
Your suggestions are pretty good. Though you should have written it for multiple support to begin with. Every time I see a game written on a cross platform system with platform specific input system I shed a tear.
Please link your images to the larger versions. Thanks.
Also I have some genuinely friendly advice for you. I know how exciting it is to start a project, and create something... but you should wait a bit longer before you do a media release. Perhaps you should actually finish the area and maybe record a video or add in game screenshot instead of a screenshot of game creator. Good luck!
I'm sorry but, is your developer team mentally retarded? The default key binds are so terrible it makes me nauseous. It kind of makes me want to believe that you have no idea what good user experience means....
That's probably the most foolish thing I've ever seen someone say. It's a good thing Apple locked their OS to one single phone so they can actually quality control it. As a developer and critique of usability do you have any idea how many problems allowing your OS to fragment over so many phones there are?
Well, if you didn't it's a lot. Companies who use Android should NOT be allowed to modify android by implementing their own UI or modifying the operating system. I'm sorry but those companies are NOT UI experts and just produce garbage. A smart phone developer keeps their system either locked to one device, or restricts their OS to regulations. The only phones that do that are WP7 and iOS.
Open systems and software are not always the best choice, in fact some times it causes more problems than it's worth.
My Left 4 Dead group already wants to play this. We can't wait til it comes out.
This looks brilliant, and your artist is fantastic.
The cars look so rigid and static because nothing on them seems to move. It's a problem I have with all indie racing games. It seems only professional game can do it well.
Why don't even the tires rotate? :(
**** me with a spoon, that art style is beautiful.
Thanks for linking your screenshot to the larger version. I think ModDB should start failing news articles for this.
Nice looking game though. It reminds me of Darwinia a bit.
I'm sorry to see that you chose Java over Mono but it's understandable considering that MonoTouch and XNATouch (XNA cross platform implementation) are both dead when Novell was purchased.
There are other mono alternatives which are much faster in performance.
I'll feel really guilty about this later but you need to hear this because apparently no one has ever quality reviewed your work, especially yourself.
I'm really sorry but this game absolutely terrible and isn't even fit to call an alpha. As a fellow game developer I must ask do you have such low standards that you would even publish this?
The entire UI system is completely garbage. Did you even spend more than 5 minutes building the UI or did you just import an external UI library and throw everything together?
Everything hardly works. I clicked login and then hit cancel because I didn't have a login but it logged me in anyway successfully. Are you kidding me?
The only constructive criticism I can give is that you need to pull this off and take some time to actually care about your product. This kind of stuff is why game development isn't moving forward as a craft.
The premise of your game is really interesting. I love to see interesting learning games. Back in my day, we had math blasters. </obligatory>
I'm not gonna lie, it looks incredibly slick. I love the feeling, and the music. I really liked when the room was being deconstructed and replaced with the island in the trailer.
I was able to test this and I had an absolute blast. Keep up the good work.
No, it's a pretty common term Valve has used even before TF2.
Those are pretty old. I have a newer deck and unfortunately isn't from Nintendo. It's really cool that you still have a Nintendo deck though.
I'll be logged in and trying to play it tonight. I haven't been able to play it before because of all the issues but it looks like it's coming together now.
Why is your art style so adorable? Who did your art? I want to slap an electrical collar around that artists neck.
The UI needs a lot of work. It's almost the opposite of user friendly. Although there are a lot larger problems with the interface I've made a few suggestions here: I.imgur.com If you're going to build a UI based game you really need to study and focus on the UI more. Usability is the #1 downfall of these types of games.
* ALL the text is bold and not just important text or titles
* All the text is centered within the panels
* Upgrade to level X does not look like a link/button. Replace it with some kind of up arrow that you can click on as well as the text which should be underlined as users associate underlined text with links that navigate (I assume this navigates in your game)
* Your background really irks me because it's black on one side and appears to be an image background on the other side. IT's incredibly unbalanced.
* You've ALREADY established an image association with your resources so why are you using text for your requirements?
* Using copyright images. Those are the minerals from Starcraft.
* Perhaps the Fields should be displayed as a resource at the top like minerals, crystal, or deuterium and not in a badly formatted way specifically on this page. I don't really know what it's used for so I can't comment well here.
Wow, that looks really impressive. I can't wait to try it out and see some gameplay videos.
Translation: How am I supposed to install this game? I am trying to use your odd installer but I don't quiet understand it. Do I need another game to get this to work? Can you please make a better readme file?
You should apply both of the translation LERP's to your menu items at the same time. It looks like each item moves up and snaps into rotation. Rotate and move up at the same time. It's just something small I noticed.
Or they could just edit the article and do it correctly instead of forcing people to use a work-around..
This is a great article, but please make the pictures links to larger versions. I can only squint so much... Your levels are beautiful by the way, the organic feel really does come out in them well.
The game itself was actually pretty fun but the controls were horrible, mainly because it's unintuitive for an RTS. It's not entirely your fault because it's made in flash.
However, some things that really bugged me were that I'd tell my ships to move when I wanted to deselect them. I couldn't right click to tell my ships to perform actions and that's pretty standard in an RTS.
That is a seriously sexy buy button you have there. I love those easy buttons.
Oh god this game is hilarious. The first time I saw that video I kind of burst out laughing.
I have to say, that is pretty motivational to not only consumers and fans of Natural Selection, but other developers.
As always, this game is looking very good. Some of those levels look pretty difficult though. They should be really fun. Masochism seems to be an ever popular theme in new indie games such as Super Meat Boy.
I really dig the animation style you created. The trailer is really intersting.
This is very amusing to me, good job. I'm surprised you were able to do this in Multimedia Fusion.
I started following your project and looking at your website. It's horribly obvious that you need a project designer badly. I started to look at some of the articles written on your website, primarily the one where you talk about UI. You start talking about how you have interfaces built in HTML and I'm so sorry but you are making such a huge mistake.
Your game clearly reflects the fact that you have no one in charge of your marketing, PR, or design. I'm not saying this to make you angry but you are making some HORRIBLE decisions as developers and it's so very, very clear. You should raise your standards a bit. If you don't have a UI, find a cross platform UI framework or build your own. Do it correctly or you'll just regret it in the end.
Don't set low standards for yourselves. Make a good game.
I like your art style very much, and that's important in these puzzle indie games.
Hah, I know what you mean about building an RPG. Developers tend to shy away from it and make fun of people who strive to make console style RPG's or RPGs in general. ButI want to congratulate you for taking the step forward and just going it. You totally have my vote. Keep up the great work.
I've been following your progress for a bit now, I'm still impressed. Good job.
This mapping is right up there next to Zeitgeist. It's absolutely amazing. This deserves more compliments.
Oh man, this type of web based sandbox definitely looks fun. I think everyone should give it a try.
This art style is amazing, the whole feel is just super polished. Wow.
I'm very excited. This game looks pretty awesome. The art style is absolutely fantastic. It really makes me happy.
somonels -> No, you're wrong. You sound like an armchair developer.
I absolutely love the art style, it looks really good.
This looks ace, me and my friends are all waiting on this.
I like how you took a single mention of rendering engine I made and completely focused on that. What you should have done is realize I was judging it on multiple decisions (as I clearly listed) and not just graphics. Though your probably too narrow-visioned to realize that.
Usability, the integration of social features, and the fact that they used Unity are all decisions a developer makes and reflects their ability to develop and lead a team.
I actually had to do a bit of research myself, Cubelands only started 4 months after Minecraft but it's obvious that you are significantly more talented than the Minecraft developer. This looks far more polished and well developed than Minecraft. I'm pretty happy to see more talented developers taking ideas which could be executed better and improving on them.
Clearly you took the idea of minecraft, but I'm impressed and happy to see that you've improved upon it heavily in your rendering engine, usability, and other places.
I love your artwork and idea of modular buildings. Keep up the good work.
Looking at the game it looks like you control the fish, I sware to god if you have to use the arrow keys or keyboard keys to control the way the fish is aiming this is unacceptable levels of fail. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Don't **** PC gamers off with ****** console style controls. I'll confirm this once I'm done downloading.
This looks excellent, good job. It almost reminds me of a more interactive and more mystery oriented Myst or Riven.
This looks pretty nice, I'm making my own card game as we speak so I can really appreciate this.
He said that, however he was referring to flash. Steve jobs himself has demonstrated a Monotouch game during the iPhone 4 launch. Also all Unity games have been constantly accepted onto the iPhone marketplace without problems.
Uh, this is really freakin cool.
I definitely wanted to comment on this, as I have to commend you on taking something commonly well known and adding an interesting spin to it. That's always very cool to see in game development.
Nice thumbnails, I can't squint that hard though...
Spend some time polishing your menus, the general idea of the game seems fun and challenging. Considering the idea of the game seems to be about lights, have it fade out when you select menu items. You have a lot of polish to go but I think in the end it looks like you've got a good start.
Rock, paper scissors, ONOS!
Super nice art, plans, and ideas.
This is animal cruelting how dare you drop all those eggs. Quick we need to catch those eggs!
I found this very useful as a programmer however I find that your node pattern is not logical to someone using your editor. I would personally prefer the previous as it's more logical to a designer. Of course you've used it more so do you find that the previous method is more logical just more time consuming to create?
This looks super unique and fun. Great job!
Generic and boring? It's obviously you didn't even bother to try out the prototype you only glanced across it and made a comment.
I've actually tested the prototype with multiple people and I've received very very positive feedback as a whole. Just wait and watch it evolve and you'll see it become a great game.
You know I started to RAAAAAGE, then I realized I got trolled so hard.
(Although I hope this does happen, in a way. I would become a member instantly)
I played around with the LUA and made a UI or two. Do you plan to expose engine functions to LUA? Mmm
This is a good resource for beginners, good job.
Looks great, I think you should come up with a common theme and follow it. If your going to remodel your lobby to look like that you should have your game follow the same art-style and theme. I think it would be better all around.
It definitely does, I would encourage anyone that has an interest in the industry to go there. It really opened my eyes.
That looks great, I just wish your thumb nails linked to the images. It would be nice.
You're almost there.
Looking forward to playing The Haunted as well as some Empires. Empires brings back good memories.
I love the overall style, good job.
Neat, I've been playing a lot of Starcraft since the announcement of the beta so I may give this a shot if I find myself taking a break from competitive matches.
Ilol'd at Kingdoms Collide banner. I'm looking forward to the Golden Eye Source update.
"They call me Reference, Null Reference."
Neato. I'm loving the latest release. It's also fun being at the top of the score board every game because there's so many new comers. I've been playing the Gestir only when I play Vikings and he's almost over powered. The only problem is pirates using pistols rape you. =\ Keep on keeping on!
It all looks good so far still.
I hope the ModDB staff can give this a bit of PR because I'll be there at every single date. They should even add count downs.
Correction, "Now Pushing Up Daisies."
Epic ******* picture. Too bad that viking is going into the lava!
Looks good man. Too bad this article got bumped off the first page as soon as it went up. :(
Congratulations on your release, I like a lot of things you've done. Would you mind explaining what particle engine/library you've used and what language/tools you've used to make this? This is a site for developers as well after all. We are interested.
Your PR is really good, I'll continue to comment on this because of how interesting it is until others realize how interesting it is as well! The art style in this is pretty darn cool.
This is a pretty sweet idea, I love innovative projects.
Potential to be such an amazing mod as the work you've shown off is pretty damn good.
Awesome, thanks for answering my question.
I'm curious how you created your levels, I assume you built a level editor first? You should show screenshots of the level editor I'm interested in your GUI design.
oh my god, I love this mod. I used to play it with friends at LAN parties and we couldn't stop laughing.
Very interesting, I look forward to seeing how LUA interacts with your game. I'd also like to see how exactly you use LUA and implement it. Though, I guess there are thousands of articles on that already online.
Looking good, i'm sorry that your news post got front page bumped in a matter of minutes though.
Very unique, very cool.
I'm definitely happy with the release. The game is a bit more newb friendly and firing granade or rocket launchers is definitely laggy but luckily I can still annihilate everyone else. I went 100 points 0 deaths the last time I played no problem. I approve. :)
Something to note is that main menu levels are often not used because they delay the time from when you start up the game, to when you get to play the game.
Not only do you have to wait for that level to load, but you also have to navigate to your level. It's just an important point you might want to consider.
This is a super interesting Warcraft 3 mod you got there.
Awesome, I look forward to the full release.
Why isn't your game also listed as PC? If your using XNA theres no reason not to distribute a PC version as well. It looks like a very interesting project I would like to see a PC version as well.
Wow, rnl_aachen looks pretty sweet and very impressive.
Looks great, but why is your dog giving me the death stare?
And thus, the postmortem for one of the most polished, well made, and skill based FPS's comes to an end. I'll hang your mods portrait up next to Dystopia in the mod hall of fame. However, your mod is far from dead, trust me. Your work will continue to be viewed, enjoyed, and played. We still play it at our LAN parties.
You MUST install the XNA 3.1 redistributable as stated on our download page. The game will crash once you try to log in if you have NOT done this. Also, the latest client is not uploaded to our website and the servers are not online. The client that you will be testing is v4.0 and nick named "Devastator".
Holy balls this is amazing.
As a tools developers I'm always interested in seeing the tools other people build and use to develop their game. I really like your use of the Office 2007 Winforms renderer and I like your editor overall. :D It looks very usable and easy to use.
Although I am not a fan of floating windows, ever. Docked windows or bust!
Very interesting although I would love to have had a simple explanation on how the entire AI system works with nodes. You've explained how to do it but not how it works which I feel is the most important part. Although I can gather that some how Source builds the node graph using it's own algorithms and then when an NPC is supposed to move to a node destination it uses the node graph to pick which nodes to use to travel.
(I did not mean to reply to the freaking dog guy. I hate that dog it always stares me in the face like a ******* freak as if it wishes to take my very soul)
Interesting, this really interests me because I also started game development on BYOND. I wrote some of my first games on BYOND so I know where your coming from.
I'm addicted to your articles, stop posting such great articles.
When ever I feel like not programming anymore because I've delt with some annoying issue you inspire me to get up and keep writing code and coming up with solutions to problems in creative ways.
It needs a completely new animation and probably some modifications to how the crow bar works so it uses a different animation for each punch as if you were using boxing gloves. Right now it looks very synthetic an cheesy.
That is actually the main reason for multiple camera support.
Looks like you had a lot of fun and the game is looking great as always.
It's time to kick *** and chew bubble gum, and I'm all outa gum.
True story, it's looking pretty good. Sorry to hear about your financial issues I may throw in something when you announce more details.
This really looks fantastic overall and it deserves more comments.
I think the joke with the progress video was lost in translation. Just saying.
Wait, let me get this straight. You actually modded Halo? No wonder there are no comments here. I applaud your efforts but modding Halo is a worse idea than modding Gears of War in my opinion. I don't even know anyone that plays PC games that owns Halo or would even waste their time pirating it.
I hope you find an audience, good luck!
All right. I'm looking forward to this. Why is Unity so special? It's special because you can develop iPhone games without feeling like your going to vomit because your writing your code in Objective-C.
Still waiting to preorder this, I want to give you guys my money. Please, just take it.
Very interesting concept, I like it a lot. It feels very immersive and peaceful. A very nice casual game to play.
Why do I get the feeling like you are a 12 year old who has never played Warhammer?
Think before you comment please. This post emulates Warhammer speak by Orkz for the Orkz section. You sure are dense!
I can't do that sorry but if you keep watching our updates you can get an idea. :) You can also test out the alpha clients if you hang out in our IRC.
Everytime you make a news post your character designs just blow me away.
Nice potential, nice mod, bad controls. You need to make the aiming system mouse based before this will ever be playable.
EXcellent! True story, I was actually looking at your mods profile the other day wondering when I'd see progress.
Crysis racing game? Interesting..
So ******* good, I want to see more historical war games on Crysis without the terrible suits and suit addons.
This is pretty sweet, when will it be on steam so I can purchase it? ;)
I'd love to buy it because this looks really fun and challenging but I'm not going to purchase it from some obscure transaction system like BMT Micro as well as other reasons. Don't you want to make more money from your game? Steam.
Sluggish or slow, you mean realistic? It's a good thing. :)
Pretty good article, but why is there a line break after every sentence? It makes it very annoying to read.
Usually indie developers post games here because they want to show people who appreciate modding and indie games. However, I think you are just posting it here to sell your game and use ModDB as a marketing tool. While your game does look cool, that's not cool in my book. Is your game moddable? Then I would understand.
Great job, it's looking pretty good. too bad the space sim crowd isn't very big at the moment but a good space sim could always change that!
Who is releasing this?? Are the SIN episodes alive? It blows my mind that they never continued the series. It's more than just well developed!
No sorry, I just assumed that they were 2D sprites and not 3D meshes.
Heh, as a 2D game developer and future game developer I've always wanted to know more about Shaders, what they are, and how they work. I guess the real trick with your shader is how it quantizes your sprites into cells. I'm curious what your non-shaded sprites look like and how it does that.
You can tell when someone lacks knowledge in gaming and experience because they automatically compare something to World of Warcraft.
Lolwhat? This is awesome!
"I shall beat you before tea time ol' chap!"
Oh god, thats a terrible idea. You should NEVER be a game developer. It's ALWAYS important to outline your game in a game document! I would never be a part of your development team, that would make me cry. You remind me of the pointy haired boss I have at work. It's the same thing with software development.
Thanks god. Fullbright or uniformly lit trees in games are starting to annoy me.
It looks so good.
Sweet Jesus. I've been following this since the beginning and I've played your playable demo. Your doing an excellent job.
You know, developers like you and me show those low level fan boys that managed code can be used to develop games just as well. Don't tell met C# and .Net can't be used to make games, because managed memory developers will prove you wrong, and managed code will never die!
Man you guys own face. Dystopia is just a mod and it is still better than 90% of the **** that's released by "professional" companies like EA.
Otherwise yes, I'm re-downloading savage now.
Also, there is no difference between HD and SD. If it's only SD why even display the logos to change between? Atleast thats something the 3 year olds who wrote the YouTube video player did. :)
This is a really interesting concept, I look forward to trying it out.
All you have to say to me is that your team is writing custom C++ overloads through the exposed DLL and I'll understand, because that's the only way to mod a source game. Source games are powered by the DLL's provided to the modder that you modify. That's all im looking for.
The reason I was questioning this possibility is because L4D does not expose this unlike other source games.
Wow, are you serious? My comment got burried? Wow.
Apperantly you don't understand. You can't mod L4D like a HL2 mod. They do not expose a DLL for you to modify. Unless im wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not on the exposing of the DLL. So don't insult me so fast before you think next time. Source mods use DLL's that you plug into the game that overload the in game methods and functions. So, again my point is, how is this going to be possible?
For one, how are you even going to accomplish this without a real SDK? You cannot make gameplay changes. I don't see the plausability of this mod. Are you going to reverse engineer the assembly for the L4D DLL?
Also, how are you going to represent a changing environment in a linear map? Or if it's not linear, are you going to represent a changing environment that makes sense in a non-linear map? Most of all, are you sure non-linear maps are going to work in a Left 4 Dead sceanario? I see your gameplay system is different, so I'm sure you'll create maps to meet the needs of your gameplay.
Good luck but again, I don't see how your even going to do this unless you find a way to run metamod scripts or something in Left 4 Dead.
What Valve released is hardly an SDK. Oh boy, I can do EVERYTHING I could do since the release of the game. The SDK doesn't let you do half the things an SDK should that valve has released. You can't make gameplay changes, PERIOD because Valve decided not to let people. No gameplay changes, nothing. End of Story.
The only problem is simple mapping and aesthetics are not the only issue. There are severe gameplay issues with L4D1 and lack of content that people are upset with. Valve is acting like a Console developer over Left 4 Dead and the community is just now beginning to realize this.
I bet even some of the Zerg gamers who play Left 4 Dead (the majority of L4D players) are coming to realise this as well.
The real solution would be to release the SDK for L4D and release L4D as a cheap expansion. I don't know why they are releasing an entire new game anyway theres almost 0 new content. If modders had the SKD there would be far more custom content and gameplay changes than Valve could count which would increase sales ten fold on the original game.
Everytime you post an update it makes me want to buy your game just for the engine and modding tools.
Ah, don't you love consoles and their creators who have their users by the balls?
This looks pretty crazy (in a good way) I'm surprised there isn't more comments. I'll give it a try.
Oh dear Infinity where have you been my love? I have waited for your letters but you have not written me in many months. The last game update you sent me was many months ago and my hope that you would soon come home to my hard drive slowly faded over the long spaceless days. However, would I be able to stay mad at you with your beautiful engine and well designed gameplay? I have longed to read your letters of feature-release and progress and I feel that you have not let me down even now. To this, I must profess my undying love for you. We shall elope to the most romantic get-away together in the valleys of the information super highway. You, and me my love ,together forever. All you have to do nod. If you are concerned about my hardware capabilities, fear not for I know my 8 core i7 with 4 cores and hyperthreading along with my gtx-280 will be able to run through your ellegent lines of code as flawlessly and quickly as the solar wind through your randomly generated galaxies. <3
NICE Zombies. Don't let anyone censor you I love your more true to life zombie models. Killing Floor got censored when they took out the "fully equipped" clot that was nude and that kind of angered me. I hope you don't let the same crap happen to you. :)
I hope there will be rocket jumping. It looks interesting enough I look forward to trying it out if it's quakeish enough, which it looks like it. :)
I'm surprised anyone cares about this game since the developers failed at implementing Multiplayer. Everyone wanted to play this game so they could coop with their buddies and fight campaign and objective style maps but they never added that feature in.
It's good to see players are fixing the problems of the original developers. I'll definitely give this a try.
Theres one HUGE issue with this game. It has DISGUSTING V-Sync issues on Windows 7 and Vista when in fullscreen mode. Didn't you guys test this on multiple hardware sets? What ever happened to Multiple OS VM testing?... How do you enable V-Sync?
Please convert your very nice useful videos to some flash based format or upload them to youtube or moddb as I along with many others don't have quick time and probably will never install that piece of trash if our lives depended on it.
Plus, streaming and live data are the future. It's so convenient. Yay bandwidth.
Regardless this is a very great article and I enjoyed reading it. I look forward to playing NS2.
I agree. File Front was the BEST file host there ever was. NO logins required with the fastest speeds I have ever seen! Too bad the other crappy file hosts like Fileplanet can't learn to actually run a file hosting site well.
I think it's fine that they do this, as long as they don't do something as stupid as Ubisoft and FAIL INCREDIBLY with Farcry 2 since they decided to completely shaft PC gamers with no SDK. Sine so many companies are now moving to cross platform development you always have to wonder whether or not this can actually happen.
"Have fun using our ****** WYSIWYG map editor! LOL!"
Holy crap that looks creepy. I'll have to give this a download.
Agreed, this mod needs multi-survivor support. I don't understand how it doesn't. 1 Zombie controller + Multiple survivors + objective based maps = good formula for an amazingly replayable game.
Thats very cool. Great addition to your mod.
is dat some Hl2 textures? O_O
Thanks god, I'm so glad there are nice shooter mods coming out without the nano suits. I absolutely hate them. You are doing an amazing job.
Valve is an intelligent company. They will not charge for the update. Valve understands how PC gaming works is really what it comes down too. You could bypass paying for map packs so fast it's not even funny. It's absolutely absurd to think Valve would even do something like that. Shame on the poster.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but Valve isn't going to sign their own death warrant with the **** storm that will ensue,
Excellent, there are certainly plenty of Natural Selection fans including myself. It's always great to see teams strike out as indie developers. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Looking really great, you guys have done some excellent work.
Right on, why didn't anyone post a coment for this? It totally deserves it. Great work.
How do you stop them from spawning though? Does it work like gauntlet legends?
This is terrible, any 3 year old can terraform and yet you seem to have even failed at that. Holy crap this map editor deserves to just die. Every 10 year old is trying to make a map and its just painful to watch.
Oh wow, thats REALLY impressive. I'm going to playthis right away.
Very interesting, i'll take note of this in the future.
What are you talking about? There are no AI Nodes in Left 4 Dead. The zombies spawn procedurally. The only thing you have to do for the AI is add invisible solids on objects so they can use them as a climbing point.
Also, I have been following this map for awhile. Really impressive. Perhaps you might even take this further and branch this out into separate levels, or make more levels that go past the mall.
Am I the only one that was thinking, "No worries, be happy!" when I saw this model? Hah. It looks like it's going to be a good finished model.
Very nice! Better than I expected. :) It would be nice of the source engine allowed for dynamic vertex manipulation like the water. Or perhaps it does? You could do some awesome worm/floor effects with it. :)
Very nice. I loved your previous media release on making your title screen. It's always really nice to see into the mod before it starts.
I spoke too soon, ignore that comment. I was looking at the metadeta image of the video.
Good work as always. It would have been nice to see the new textures in the video rather than what appears to be, the old ones.
I didn't make it out to Expcon but if I knew you were going I would have tried to make it out. I would like to have some kind of HL2 Mod Panel at one of the anime conventions one of these days. Most people don't even know what they are which is a total shame. They are so wrapped in their tiny console world it's a shame there so ignorant.
If you make it out to any other Florida cons make sure to post. You'll probably see me running around as a Scout at megacon. :)
Great news btw.
Omg it's the STROGG.Definately looking great so far. You've got that very stemapunkish atmosphere.
Agreed. I think the map needs a little bit more detail. I believe the buildings need especially a bit more detail. Try creating some destruction debris and more detail outside. The main focus here is the buildings to me which im not seeing enough detail on.
That looks really great. I can't wait to see it, especially since im a big Quake 3 Arena fan.
When are we going to see an English voice actors path? That should be top priority in my eyes. You've fixed the main issues I've had which were starting out with a killer first level as well as in the first level dying and then having to wait for him to give his whole speach again before I could continue.
Quick question, in the Strider battle at the End of Episode 2, you see a very large Mountain in the distance. This mountain is the area to which all striders from from in the battle. Is there any chance this is the same mountain from Strider Mountain? They look very similar. That would be really badass if you had planned that.
Soooo... whens the release date. :)
That was brutal, however you HAVE done alot of good work here and im sure alot of WoWtards are going to enjoy this.
Shoot me now...
Yeah, you've done alot of good work however at this point in gaming WoW no longer stands for another Warcraft game that Warcraft fans love but instead something that most gamers appose. Of course I say this as just another elitest angry Blizzard fan.
I assume your going to redo the combat system for melee combat that doesn't blow? Because the knife combat in 2142 is really screwed up.
Thats hilarious, but I also really liked the old models. :)
Looks great. DoD:S is an amazing game.
Looking good as always, but isnt most of this old news? The dirt and stuff atleast I think.
That looks awesome!
I doubt there is, because someone most likely would have posted a tutorial on it. The PS3 is still very primitive in technology, especially since its still in its infant stage of modding I don't mean to state the obvious but: Just buy a PC. :) You'll be glad you did.
It's crashing when I attempt to launch and join a server. :(
Bottem left, he screams... "It's time to kickass and chew bubble gum, and im all outa gum.".
I cant say I agree there, Steam was really flawed at the start but I think at this point Steam is one of the most solid dependable services there is. I don't even bother to buy games in the store anymore unless I absolutely HAVE to. (Especially if EA makes it, then I just won't buy it at all )
Yes! It's finaly time! I've been waiting for this!
Valve, you've revolutionized the entire gaming community and framework of mod and game development alike... What will you do next? Valve is to Game Technology and Developers as Google is to searching and internet applications.
As long as its not dependent on that. You think im kidding? Kane and Lynch forces you to use an XBox controller and use Splitscreen on the Pc because they thought people had low standards for games and would just put up with that kind of garbage. Theres other games that try to force you to do that too.
With the invention of the internet i'll personally probably never use split screen but it seems like a cool feature. Splitscreen is so old gen, I heard console gamers were still using splitscreen to play multiplayer games. :P
There is a mod like this for Unreal 2k4 thats multiplayer and very popular. Maybe after your done with the initial release you can start brain storming for multiplayer mode for a later release? That would blow alot of peoples mind. :)
You know, the only reason I bought Unreal 3 was for this mod. :)
This looks like its going to be a great mod. How about multiplayer?
Even though not many people have commented I think you deserve it because your mod is High quality. I just think a lot of people here don't normally play BF2142 because its not really all that modded, atleast in comparison to the source engine. However, you deserve just as much love as every other mod!
Thats a cool looking ship, it looks crazy.
Reminds me of the vanguards from Last Exile.
IMA FIRIN MAH LAZAR! BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
Oh god thats incredible. Please tell me you can fly those ships in the first screenshot! Those huge ships are awesome. Also awesome drop ships would be sweet. This totally reminds me of my Planetside days, in a good way!
LOL! Nice picture! It was a shame your a week late! We just had a big LAN Party down here in Florida and we were all playing 2.1. We'll certainly play 2.2 at our next one! Incredible.
Hopefully assist kills will be in because my friends kept QQing when I stole their kills. :)
Wow, everything looks pretty impressive, but the thing that caught my eye the most are those ship props and interiors. They are very impressive, you must have some awesome modelers and mappers.
EDIT: I meant to write a new comment and not to reply.
Mmmm ragnarok online private servers are showing up here on ModDB? Legality?
Um use moddb video? I assume you can for downloads?
It was an accident, and you can't delete comments. Soooo, why are you offended I replied to your comment?
Sweet jesus! Firearms, now with more source!
Basically, this is awesome. You own.
That looks pretty good. While I've never heard of Bandits I think what your doing is very cool. That cannon makes you feel like your really hitting a punch with the recoil effect, car gibs physics, and explosion. Very nice.
It's very interesting to see mods to games you haven't played because it introduces you to new games that you may never have thought of trying.
It's always awesome to see new mods released, this looks pretty awesome. Makes me feel so bad for console gamers to see all these awesome mods released.
Very nice, I love the cyberpunkish clean metalic look for corps.
Sweet jesus. For the WIN.
Just like Half-life 2...
Speak up if you know anything. I wish I could help, I just hope you guys don't quit while your so close.
Definately keep the starcraft terrain. It looks a helluva lot better. Good job. Keep up the good work. Now if you can get a new warp in model/animation for the protoss buildings. ;)
LOL. Especially at the Team Fortress 2 stuff!
LOL! Did you seriously just say "hope it gets to the mac"?
Does it use opengl or directx? Why don't you just get a real computer, or better yet I have to point out the fact that all those retarded mac commercials insult themselves by pointing out that windows runs faster on a mac than osx does. Just format and install windows on your mac. It will run faster!
Why is this being advertised here? I hope there isn't any more console news. This must be since they added those console sections for mods. I don't think you'll really find anyone here since we all have skill at FPS and we don't play FPS on a console. This whole news post is a joke.
Just a sidenote, PMS aren't real gamers there just more sterotypical girls, not liek they play real games just console FPS. Theres like 5 PC gamers there for every 50 Xbox gamers. What a joke, go back to painting your nails and stop trying to play games.
I have begun to sketch out gameplay, modes, and other details. Beginning progress seems bright. I'll update the progress every week or bi-weekly on my progress. I'll announce the planned game information when I finalize it. Right now, I am a team of one so we'll see.
A general description of my goal is the nunchuck and the wii mote will both be used. Using the nun-chuck you will move, and can wield a shield, a second weapon, or if your using two hands, must use that for your two handed weapons. (I am still planning this out)
Everything is one touch so your going to have to learn to menuver your equipment to defend yourself. The rules will be very similar to real Dagorhir so visit their website if you need to learn more.
