After months of hard work, we here at Bloom are excited to officially announce the existence of our current project CANVAS. To go with this announcement, we have prepared a short press release to explain exactly what CANVAS is, and what you can expect to find when we release.
To complement this announcement, we have also launched our official website, on which you can find a slew of information about the mod, as well as screenshots, videos and wallpapers.
We have also created a short teaser trailer introducing some of the characters and environments you will experience in-game, which can be found below.
PRESS RELEASE
INTRODUCTION
CANVAS is a single-player total conversion modification for Half-Life 2: Episode 2. It hopes to provide a unique action/adventure experience based upon the versatile Source engine.
SETTING
In the world of CANVAS, psychics exist, and live openly alongside humans. Their existence has been noted throughout history, and while their powers are still feared by non-psychics, their culture has pervaded countries across the globe.
Seeking to centralize their cultural heritage, groups of psychics banded together to build enormous underground galleries. In these galleries are housed the greatest works of 'psychic' art – paintings that allow the viewer to psychically enter the paintings, and experience the artist's intent first-hand. Run by an unusual being known as the Curator, the Acanthus gallery is by far the most prestigious of these institutions, housing the largest collection of psychic art and literature in the world.
STORYLINE
Milena Desmaris is unhappy in her life. Having been left with her father after her mother passed
away, she found herself neglected as her father buried himself in his work. Her only true friend and companion, Borden, is a teddy bear brought to life with her psychic powers.
However, when Milena's father seemingly goes missing, everything changes. Suddenly, Milena and
Borden find themselves on an adventure, and while trying to find out what happened to her father, and why, they will explore locations and experience things beyond anything they could have imagined.
KEY FEATURES
Single-Player Campaign – Take Milena and Borden through a unique adventure as they investigate the disappearance of Milena's father. Psychic Abilities – Utilize Milena's psychic abilities to overcome obstacles, puzzles and enemies. Control Borden – Take direct control of Milena's furry companion in order to reach difficult locations, and use his own psychic powers. Enter Paintings – Leave the real world behind as Milena enters paintings and explores entire new worlds.

Fascinating work here. I've been lurking this page for a year now, mesmerized by the concepts, obscure as they were, you conveyed in the artwork that was uploaded. It's great to see that the fleshed out work you guys have done more then meets the artistic expectations your concept drawings had impressed upon me. Can't wait to watch the trailer when my net is fixed, and I honestly think this mod will be a real unique experience to play. Can't wait!
The trailer does not show anything really. Don't get me wrong, it looks epic but i have no idea what i just watched. Maybe you understand because you created it but i don't. Anyway good luck with this.

It shows the fantastic art direction they've taken and "teases" bits of a storyline. You get that there's tensions and that someone appears to be manipulating things (the creepy wizard dude in the hat). It piques your interest, shows you some of their work and draws you in.
I'm not gonna lie, it looks incredibly slick. I love the feeling, and the music. I really liked when the room was being deconstructed and replaced with the island in the trailer.

From your website, I love what you have done with the source engine. I assume you are going to drop all of the HL2 character eventually for your own. Have you been able to produce any face poser characters ready yet? I produced some for my mod and believe we were the only MOD ever to do so. I takes a lot of working out, and due to a HDD crash, lost all of the work. Have been meaning to create a video tutorial on how to do it though.
We're working on our main character right now, since she's using a custom rig it's a bit complicated but we're getting there.

I thought "mod launch" meant it was released :( Would've been a great surprise. Anyway, the teaser trailer is.. jaw-dropping. It's beautiful. And the music.. it gave me goosebumps (that's what they're called right?).
You should consider making a movie ;) So.. yeah, in case I didn't make it clear yet: I'm very impressed!

Very nicely done, I thought the trailer looked very professional, especially compared to some AAA developer trailers now days who use crappy mainstream music and use simple cuts in their trailer. This was really nicely done, well directed (even though I'm still not sure what it all was about), and I enjoyed watching it.
