Hello again everyone, as promised I have returned with more news of the impending release of Titan: XCIX - Part One, which includes a much anticipated gameplay preview. The "walkthrough" consists of the first 13 (unlucky for some) minutes of unedited gameplay from the mod, which will give players a good indication of what to expect throughout the entire mod. With this I would also like to explain some of the mechanics of the mod, as well as dispel a rumour that seem to be floating around.
It's recently come to my attention that some people are expecting a first person frag fest, where the ship is invaded by aliens, leaving the player battling for survival against an army of gooey green monsters. Although this would of been an awesome idea within another scenario, this is most definately not the case in this mod! Titan: XCIX is a story driven experience that focus's on character interaction, exploring, and puzzle solving. While you progress you will learn more about the characters involved, as well as there opinions and relationships with one another.
You can do this by searching for Datapads as well as clues within the environment, and as time go's on you will unravel the mystery as to why Titan: XCIX has come to find itself lost in space. On the way you will be challenged by a number of obstacles that will require you to put your thinking caps on, these may be as innocuous as relaying information between crew members, but as the situation ramps up so do the tasks involved, forcing the player to literally save the ship from utter destruction.
With all that being said, i hope people won't be disapointed to hear the lack of (direct) combat. What I can promise is a fully fleshed out, one and a half to two hours worth of gameplay, filled with twists, turns and even an obligatory boss battle (work that one out) as well. But enough babbling ... here's the first 13 minutes, be aware though that some may consider this a spoiler, so avoid it if you want it to be fresh for you when the release date comes.
So, now i've managed to get all that out of the way it's my pleasure to inform you all that the mod is currently 95% complete and likely to hit beta inside the next few weeks, with a release (hopefully) to hit not long after. At this point beta testing will be closed, so try not to spam bomb me with beta requests.
Thank you all for reading. Don't forget to hit the track button if you haven't already, and if you are interested I also have a Twitter account, where I post up to the date info on the mods progress (as well as other random junk).
A huge Thanks again for all of the support!

"i hope people won't be disapointed to hear the lack of (direct) combat."
I am. It's not because the game is bad and I believe you should make the games you want to make. My disappointment has more to do with so many of these "games without combat" or "games without goals". In this case, why is it not a film or machinima?
I'm sorry to hear that buddy, I really am.
To answer your question, I believe that people should have the choice to play games that don't involve shooting things in order to tell a story. I'm all for first person shooters (I'm a huge Battlefield fanboy) when the context is correct, but I built this mod with the goal of creating an interesting and fun mod without having to resort to the use of unnecessary violence, or strong language. I knew it may divide some peoples opinions, but that was the allure of the project.
One thing I can say with absolutely certainty is, in what it lacks in alien blasting action it makes up for in many other area's, and is far from "a game without goals"!
Thank you for your honest opinion!!
Please ignore that guy, I can only imagine he's a complete fool for saying that. Only the most densest of tools would say something like that and you don't want to make games for them anyway.
NullSoldier, I disagree, while he should be "ignored" in the sense of not changing the mod into a combat game now suddenly, I don't think him or anyone is a fool for saying that.
He's just stating his honest opinion and isn't even calling it bad or saying Iz should do otherwise, he's just saying it's not his thing, if you don't like simulation games for example, are you then a complete fool for saying you're not really into simulation games?
Just my 2 cents.
The thing is he's hiding the fact that he doesn't think games with no combat are valid games in the guise that "you can do what you want" but I just disapprove of it. What he's basically saying is that this game is pointless because it has no combat. He's hiding subtle insults in his post and that annoys me.
Pointless? Aren't games all pointless? If everything humanity does boils down to the betterment of humankind(in the end: happyness) then so do games, so I suppose no games are pointless, unless they do not fullfill a goal that leads to it.
So basically, you imply the game doesn't make him happy?
Well if it's not his thing, it doesn't make him happy and I don't see anything wrong with that.
Or with pointless you mean to say you think, that he implies the game won't make anyone happy? That games without combat won't make anyone happy? I very much doubt he means to say that, perhaps he does and you're free to think what you want.
I will think what I think though and not put words into his mouth I've never seen him say(read: type), additionaly, he also mentioned "no goals", I'd like to think he's implying a game without combat and without goals, should just be a movie or something, which I might agree to, depending on what falls under goals, teaching something can be a goal in an educational game, even if that's not an immediatly satisfying goal to some and may be labelled as not a goal...
What I'm just trying to say with that is, he might not be aware there's any sorts of goals yet, it's not even out yet, so perhaps he might not play it because there's no combat, but still will accept it as a game if it does have goals like Iz said and well, not everyone enjoys non-violence games and not everyone enjoys violent games, perhaps he's just the former, not a reason to try and bury the comment, if he really is trying to be insulting, sure go ahead, but I think you and others hitting the minus button are jumping the gun and making too many assumptions.
Which is a human thing to do anyway, but really, he's several steps above the kind of jerks that would say: "What no combat? This game suuuuuuuckkkssss", he's explained his opinion in a polite way, yet people are getting angry with him, so I felt the need to defend him with an overload of Duck logic.
Just my 9001 cents.
Games aren't all about combat. Are you honestly saying games should only be about combat?
Nope, hence why I said the game wasn't bad and he should make the games he wants. It's just not for me.
Everthing looks great. And I love the litte touch with Mr.O_o.
The only thing that seems a miss is the voice acting for the first two characters, neither of them seem to fit the roles. The capatins voice sounds like hes trying too hard to put on a deep and serious voice, and it just ends up not fiting.
Still looking forward to playing :)
This looks absolutely fenominal. I am extremely shocked by the production quality in such a mod. Keep up the good work you are doing amazing things. This may be one of the most under-rated mods on ModDB to be honest.
(I also think the voice actors are lacking but understand that you're working with what you have. I have to say the female voice actor you used for engineering isn't bad at all)
Yeah the Captain is "quite" bad. However use what you got!
Thanks guys I really appreciate the support!!
In defence of my voice team, it's definitely worth a mention that the Captains Voice Actor is actually over stressing his part as directed by me. It's difficult to explain, without spoilerizing the story, but rest assured it's very much intentional.
I'd be lost without the help provided by all of the Voice Actors/Actress that have provided work for the mod, and I have to stress that without them, the mod would feel considerably less alive :)
looks like mass effect, ill take it!
Nice work.
I've been tracking this mod for a lot and I am happy it is now next to be released.
I like very much the story and the gameplay concept: they' re both pretty original and interesting.
I watched the video and I was disappointed when it ended. I just wanted more!
I think your work is incredible. It really has a strong appeal.
Voice are not the bad others said, I think they fit the characters - and I'm used to listen to translated voice acting.
I hope the game will let us explore more in depth the story you created - the fate of humanity after such an unlucky first contact.
Compliments
Lovely- but re-do the ship. It looks quite silly. The voice acting aswell.
Otherwise, though, the game looks great!
I find myself looking forward to this one.
I really can't wait for this one; it looks phenomenal!
First quest is about 12 minutes in. hehe..
do you know how many parts there will be to this !! by the way i like what i see so far !!
Only Two, and production has already begun on Part Two.
Looks like a great mod to me! Can't wait to play it!
Everything looks really great man, I can't wait for the release, long time since I last played a nice HL2 singleplayer mod (not saying that the new ones aren't good... just that I have a different taste than shooting everything without anything special... like an explaination of why I have to shoot the enemies), and I must say that even teased to watch the video, I didn't because I want no spoilers xD
I despise the Ship design and the SMG posted within the screenshot section. I do hope that they will get redesigned or remade completely sometime. Why? Because for such a mod with promising map design and maybe a promising story, will quality like that of the SMG/Ship model do the entire mod as a whole any justice?
