Every time I see this mod updated, I feel proud to be a PC gamer. Its a mod, that at first glance, would only have a niche audience. But due to massive popularity, you are making a game closer to what the developer wanted, not something that is "modified" or "tweaked" by a publisher to appeal to a greater audience. I applaud everyone who has and is working on this mod. This shows that PC gaming is still number 1. My hat is off to you.

Thank you.
Yeah, it is pretty f**king amazing what a team of motivated gamers are able to accomplish these days through broadband www ... Obviously this work conjures the best pc game ever for us and we are glad that others might feel the same way.
I love Metro2033! - but STALKER will always remain no.1 with its open world and freedom of choice.
It is possible (for me) to feel that I actually live in the Zone while Metro2033 always keeps me on the move of a very restricted journey

You guys should try and create a mod that turns the zone into metro 2033 with the ability to go into the metro to get supplies, guns, & ammo then go deeper into the metro or to the surface and fight nosalises and bandits and stuff! that would be AMAZING!

i absolutely adore you guys!

Edit : i saw you are settled with the feature list and this is not like a suggestion list by any means :D

But it's a really cool feature. Well done MISERY team :D

Can we use pistol ironsights while using this?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+4 votes

You can sprint with it but when aiming with both hands for iron sight you auto-holster the flashlight.
So it is recommended to avoid this situation of combat in pitch dark areas ;-)

Man, this is amazing! Great idea and great work! It's just a shame (imo) that everything in the mod is so fecking brown but I guess that's just the style of it :b

I have a desaturated monitor profile setting for playing CoP. The game engine projects all colours very saturated and desaturating every channel improves the visual look and feel quite a bit imo.

Yeah okay, but I still think it's just a matter of taste, really. If a mod is going for the "dead" look, then avoiding brown is hard. I just like the idea that the Zone is green better. It's all a matter of taste, it doesn't make Misery less awesome.

It reminds me of gears of war, except instead of grey, its brown, You really should improve the color palette.

That would defeat the purpose of naming it "Misery", yes? I don't think lush greenery and rainbows really fits into the theme ^_^ no offense intended.

Agree'd, if you wanted a more realistic take on the zone, it would be more green than brown.

Just how much epic do you all plan to pack into one mod? Any more and you just might break the universe! That said very cool flashlight. It looks very much real too. A shame every rind up, crank, or squeeze flashlight I've ever seen was some flimsy plastic piece of crap. lol

Wow, inspired by this I looked them up and there are actually a couple reliable looking flashlights of this style! Sadly none look as good as yours. hehe

pretty good idea of course only useful for those who want the battery life system, however imagine if you needed to find a headlamp and this is the only thing you have at start, the intensity would be some real chills in the spine.

Please read the following description very carefully:

"There are no new extreme animations with this.
There are no fancy flashlight/headlamp combinations.
There are no impressive flickering, colour tins or other effects with the light.
You do not manually wind it - this is all done behind the curtains."

Now draw your own conclusion from this.

We can't duct tape it to our rifles to alleviate the left hand use requirement?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Gamers blasted DooM 3 (a horror cliche that was unafraid to be one) for having a hand-held flashlight, yet it's welcomed in a STALKER mod for "enhancing immersion" and being "atmospheric". People are really damn stupid.

If you weren't referencing this and were serious, I don't have the words to describe how much I can't stand people like you. Here's a typical answer for ya though: duct-taping it to the barrel of your rifle would cause the rifle to become unbalanced, unwieldy and stupid-looking.

imagine this situation: you're low on batteries but you are just too damn near a task marker, that you decide that you might just do the damn mission , "it's easy" you think, "in and out". But then your battery's finally empty: no night vision, no PDA, no helmet flashlght; all you have a piece of crap pistol and a hand-held flashlight... and TONS of freaking snorks!... Ohhh, I imagine myself getting the hell out of X-8 Lab! I'm dying to get my hands on this mod, man.

Description

Wind-up flashlight added to MISERY 2.0

If works exactly like the headlamp except for the these pros and cons:

Pro:
Has its own permament and independant power source

Con:
Requires your left hand for use

- - -

There are no new extreme animations with this.
There are no fancy flashlight/headlamp combinations.
There are no impressive flickering, colour tins or other effects with the light.
You do not manually wind it - this is all done behind the curtains.

- - -

If you use this item during combat it is quickly auto-holstered whenever you reload your one-hand weapon.

This item may not be a big deal to many of you.
But ingame you will notice a nice 'back to basics'-intensity while using this light source in combination with a knife or handgun.

In addition this flashlight now adds even more value to handguns as these are now perfect choice of firearms
when you want to explore in dark areas without draining your valuable UPD power source.

- - -

When you have the headlamp in your inventory, right click > use. the item will disappear from your inventory pack (it's not deleted), but when you press [ L ] you will now have the traditional headlamp that runs using the UDP. At this point it's wise to remove the handheld flash light from your handheld slot because using it will disconnect the headlamp (putting it back in your inventory) and then you'll have to put it back on your head. Note that the headlamp does not go in a slot.
