Basically, know enough about the lore to create a total war game that makes sense. You can have the story start from the first war, and if you don't die, as the years progress, it goes into the second war, AI factions appear, etc, then lot of these factions can be used, and if they are destroyed, create some of these other factions you guys have. Now if you just have all your current faction choices start up at once. Honestly its just dumb with not much depth. :P. I understand all the hard work put into those, it still won't exclude decisions that made no sense. I understand people want to see some of these factions in action, and you can, just combine them with factions they are aligned to, it will make a much better, more variety type of game. Like my Dark Horde example or even the New Horde. Dark Horde has orcs, trolls, ogres, dark irons, etc. A faction with a lot of variety, same with Alliance, and New Horde. There are a lot of factions to choose to make a great total war, you guys are just dividing the big ones into small ones and throwing in huge ones from different parts of history.

Ha, well my name is chase, just call me pun online. I'm a gamer, I'm a RTS veteren, I have played nearly every RTS game thats out there, here are some. All of the C&C games, All of the warcraft RTS games including starcraft, I have played universe at war, all of the dawn of war RTS games except dawn of war 2, all the total war games. I'm not a modder, I don't exactly have the time to learn a whole lot of shit to create great mods, but I do have a lot of great ideas.
