StarCraft II brings a lot of new units and a lot of new gameplay to the sci-fi world we all love. Unfortunately, many units present in the original game did not make it into SC2 multiplayer, and many issues exist in SC2 that prevent it from being a true hardcore E-Sport.

StarCraft+ fixes these issues. Many of your favorite units from the original game make a comeback, and many balance changes and gameplay updates have been made to make StarCraft II live up to its name.

This mod has two goals: Make StarCraft 2 feel as fun and as epic as Brood War, and make all the race options balanced enough to allow for a wide variety of different builds and strategies to be used.

The following maps are on Battle.net for you to play on US servers. Search for them by name to play them. Now that Blizzard has given us a whopping twenty map slots, I am taking requests for melee maps to add the mod to.

  • Arakan Citadel Plus (6)
  • Blistering Sands Plus (2)
  • Gaia Plus (4)
  • Megaton Plus (8)
  • Modern Warfare Plus (2) (map credit to monkh)

If you don't have access to US servers, you can download the dependency file in the addons section and publish it onto a melee map via the editor. Please publish it following the naming of these maps (ie put "Plus" in front of the map's name). Except in that case, you may use/modify this mod freely, as long as your derivative work does not contain any variation of "StarCraft+" in it.

The developer change list and related threads are on my forums, S8.zetaboards.com

This mod is a constant work in progress. All feedback relating to balance or playability would be greatly appreciated.

StarCraft+ is a mod for StarCraft 2 that brings back many of the units from the original game. It also adds some gameplay and balance changes to existing units and abilities to create a more competitive and exciting multiplayer experience.

The mod is ported to a number of maps. Due to the limiting publishing system, only 4 maps using this mod are on Battle.net right now. To try them out, search for them by name on the custom game list.

  • Desert Oasis Plus
  • Lost Temple Plus
  • Moonlight Valley Plus
  • Paranoid Android Plus

All feedback, especially balance and gameplay feedback, is greatly appreciated (and probably needed). Please give me your feedback at the StarCraft+ Developer Forum.

I hope you guys enjoy playing this mod as much as I have enjoyed making it!

I wonder, how do you get a mod to work by itself? I've made an SC2 stat rebalance mod, but I can't get it to work in a map, or by itself...Can anyone help me with that, or point me to where I will find help?...This mod looks good by the way, I am playing it right now...

Seems like this is a mod file that's forced to be applied onto maps in order to be used.

Blizzard must have failed on the modding aspect and only given people the mapping aspect. I've yet to see any modding menus for the game itself, they tend to focus on maps, maps and more maps...

Is there a mod that doesn't remove any of the new units, whilst keeping the old (returning) units? I like the new units, and the orriginals. It seems kind of stupid to me, that they have made the multiplayer side of the game, lack most of the units. Would also be nice if they added a choice between the ghost or the spectre, depending on either what building you choose to build, or research etc.

Multiplayer doesn't feel to me complete without these units. I'm not interested in player with people, just against the AI anyway.

So basicly you are re-adding the units from SC1 and Brood War into SC2 while removing (most of) the new ones?

That would be totally epic mate, since that is how I would have liked SC2 the most; SC1/Brood War with improved graphics.

If you are still working on this great mod, I would like you to think about the idea of getting MotherShip back into the game. Instead of those boring new spellcasts, maybe you could add the Time warp thingie, Blackhole and the Planet Cracker back. It would be difficult, as those effects are probably not in the final game anymore, just like with the Dragoon. Also, it would be cool if MotherShip would have the old weapon back (I mean that cool flying stuff, not that laser thingie).
If you don't like the idea, then it's fine, I think that it would be cool.
