Journey into the gritty and not particularly pleasant world of Max Payne. This third person action game features a strong storyline and an altogether interesting antihero. Max Payne is a gritty journey to the present day New York City during the worst winter blizzard in a century. The thriller pulp story keeps the players guessing right on till the end. The game shoots from the lowest slum pits to the greatest skyscraper heights, leaving behind a trail of corpses, splatters of blood, and empty brass rolling on the floor.

The second idea was of Max's alter-ego fighting a different kind of battle with forces(?) trying to stop him. All this happens while he is being bound by a different set of limitations and can explore a new set of possibilities, maybe even supernatural powers. Third and the most exciting idea for me, personally, was of Max trying to investigate what other Valkyr-like drugs the dark lords could be working on. In the process, he stumbles upon the fact that "someone" is trying to get a few top scientists working on a project to develop time-machine. With this kind of power in their hands, they could rule the world, almost literally. Max must stop them and ultimately manages to get his hand on the actual time machine. Then he can go back in time and set things right from the very beginning, maybe even get his wife and child back. He deserved to live that American Dream after all, at least after having left piles of corpses behind him and dying a million times at the hands of amateur gamers all over the world. As stupid as the ideas may sound, well, this is what I was thinking.

I have tried both first and second installments of Max Payne and its real fun. When I first read that games can me modified and entirely new levels and even a parallel version of the game itself can be created, I found it simply fascinating. Being new to the idea of mods, I tried out a few for Max Payne and was almost instantly hooked to some of these altered versions of the game. Of late, I have been thinking what innovative ideas could be brought to life with thehelp of modifications. Though practically I have no idea about how to create these "new versions" of the game and the first few pages of text and explanations which came with mod tools lost out on me completely, basically because of my lack of understanding in even the slightest of technicalities involved. However, I would very much like to share a few crazy ideas I sort of daydreamt of as the versions which maybe I would love to play most, of course, if they turn out really well. First idea was based on the basic premise that what if he did something different along the way which could define the conclusion in a certain manner. However, if he were to do things with a slight difference, like, maybe kill a certain person before another one, it could alter things completely, thus leading him to an entirely new conclusion. To put it simply, to introduce the idea of choice about what actually to do and thus define the conclusion differently each time. For convenience sake, this version might be called "Alternate Timelines" or "What If" with various choices and different course of actions available to Max Payne as he progresses through the game with multiple endings worked out for each course of action he adopts. Of course, it may not be as simple to develop this version as it sounds, and things could become very complicated.

The original game's use of bullet time sucked. I found it much easier to just pop out and shoot, pop out and shoot, and repeat.every single time I intiated a shootdodge in this game I got killed like Sonny at the causeway. But for some reason I was awesome at mp2.
