Set in São Paulo, Brazil, where Payne is working in the private security sector for a wealthy local family, set eight years after the events of the second game.

About Max Payne 3 with 17 comments by INtense! on Jun 3rd, 2012

Max Payne 3 has just blown into town like an old lover so why not reminisce about the old days by replaying the original two games.... Modified!

Max Payne

The Real World
It wouldn't be a Max Payne 1 mod if we didn't have some high flying kungfu and bullet dodging now would it? The most recent of all the MP mods to be released, however it is only a demo. Lets see where they go with this!

Neo Trinity

Katana
It seems you got anime in my angsty. Katana draws you into the violent and chaotic world of an Assassin on the run: - from his Order; from the shattered remains of his past; and from the haunting screams of the countless people he's murdered.

Godlike Ass kicking

Max Payne@University
This mod was acutally modeled after a real university and a story played around it! It makes use of a few other mods like Kung Fu 3 Deluxe Engine (by Kenneth Yeung, MrUniq) and the Enemy Kung Fu (by Ghasp) engine to round (house kick) out the mod.

No safe place Stewie died for a reason

The Family
The Family is a truly unique modding experience, as it follows the story of the young gangster Tony in an entire black and white film noir-ish world of the 1930's mafia era.

Payne Effects 3
It wouldn't be a modding guide without one overhaul mod, and this one is really good. With new spectacular unique effects and with lot of key features that will drammatically change the original gameplay. Everything is created to improve the original feel of the game without loosing the Max Payne signature.

Payne Effects 3 Features Payne Effects 3 Features

7th Serpent: Crossfire and 7th Serpent: Genesis
Thrusting players into a world of corruption, secrecy and vengeance. Two different chapters within the same universe. Made by ModDB's ye'old editor Stenchy and his team, so you know it is good!

Train Wreck Gameplay

Mona: The Assassin
Mona Sax is a contract-killer, a job at which she excels. When a Mafia boss sends his army of mobsters after her, assaulting her hideout and forcing her to flee through the city streets, it gets personal and real nasty. Play through a fan story of Mona Sax!

I managed to dig out most of the sound clips that Max says in the game Max Payne 3 (except for cutscenes). I edited all the names of the files by myself...

There's no reason why Rockstar can't release mod tools after the multiplayer has died. :/

This is a great game. I wonder why Rockstar hasn't give us a modding tool for the game.

In my point of view, Max Payne 3 is an excelent game that stays true to the originals, as far as Rockstar Games is able to do. Graphics are over the top, voice acting is amazing as always and the story... it is okay, for what Rockstar Games can suck outta their thumbs. If you are a real fan of Max Payne's original adventures and would like to see them explained, you won't find pretty much anything here (except some minor refrences which can be fun for a small while). The comic book effect was poorly an effect and just made me wish I was reading the comics from the previous games. All in all, it is a good game for what it is. It certainly is the next stage of Max's life and it shows it with great effect. Sadly, the ending didn't quite cut the cake for me. Sure it was action packed, but it still left me with a mystery of what was going to happen next. I guess this is just done to make sure that there is always a possibillity of DLC, something I feared would happend shortly before release. The game should just finish when the player is finished, not when someone decides that they just wanna add a little mission just for some money. No thanks. All aside the negative aspects, it is an 8.9 for me. It works, but it just doesn't live up to my expectations.

I tought almost the same... Rockstar Games has some BEatiful storyfull games Like Max Payne and Red Dead Redemption and GTA. Als Rockstar Games are Full of Nice gameplay and with graphics over top like you said. The Story selfs are always more or less Dramatic with an Past you can't heal and an feature you can't live in. i give this game also an 8-9. I wanted just some more Chapters, 20 Max. One minor thing i realy missed in the game was that there are almost no refrences back to the previous games. You hear sometimes something about Mona or your lost family but nothing about That Russian maffia or the Valkyr Project. The sadest part for me about the game... The End of the game said to me: Max Payne 4 Coming... But only caquse it wasn't an real big ending last chapter... The Minor thing i care about in games is the story line. and in almost all Rockstar Games that is the most remarkable. But Other games has too but are just too messy. In this kinda games? Nope...

Rockstar Games: We love your games!

Excellent game. The story and the characters are not nearly as tightly written as the previous two games, but for coming from a completely different developer, it is still an amazing experience. Easily the best third-person shooter I have ever played gameplay wise. Great gameplay, amazing visuals, it's all up to Rockstar's par of quality. Unfortunately, Max Payne fans generally do not like this game because of the difference in tone, and Rockstar fans generally do not like this because it's not…
