Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is a playable technology showcase that introduces High Dynamic Range lighting to the Source engine. It is included with Half-Life 2, purchased on Steam.

Originally planned as a section of the Highway 17 chapter of Half-Life 2, Lost Coast follows Half-Life protagonist Gordon Freeman as he travels up a coastal cliff to destroy a Combine artillery launcher in a monastery, which is firing on a nearby town.

As the logo says, closed alpha has been speculated back and forth for a while.

The initial release date for the closed alpha was December last year, however that never happened.

We really need more modellers & animators. Active ones!

Apart from that BBS is in a pretty good state, so I decided it would be a cool idea to show off the current progress to the fans. ;)
Hopefully most of you will find it exciting!

Give us feedback on the current stuff! We'd appreciate it!!

I love playing the "tech demo" levels on games, years after their release. Now, looking back, I think some of the tech demo levels for games can be better than most of the levels in the game itself. Half-Life 2 was good all-over though, absolutely flawless.

That extension make you think the Source Engine is a good engine but in fact it's just a bugged bunch of craps.
