Hey there,

So other than posting pictures of models( which do look great I must say) I suspect some of you will be wondering what we have been up to. We have a couple of projects on the go at the moment but as I am sure most of you are aware it is that time of year when exams are taking place all over the world at various levels of degrees. Real life does of course come first which is why myself and others from the team are busy studying hard and not doing much else really... :D

However we have not been too idle and once this busy period has passed we should have a nice healthy composition of shiny things for you to sample. This is an exciting period for all of us and as the model production is probably about 80% complete we can focus on other aspects such as rigging, texturing and unique gameplay experience. We are however along way from release so any help is greatly appreciated. This can be in any form, such as a "well done!" to a comprehensive talk on why a problem exists and how to fix it.

Also something which has recently come to my attention is the small amount of people within this community that seem to have a problem with this mod just existing and not being released by now. We work at our own pace and when we see fit to do so. It is not a race nor a comparison with anyone else's mod or add-on. I fully understand that some Members have colourful history with other Members which is understandable but it should not be turned into petty insults or jibes at anyone's work, whatever it maybe. I did not join this project to fight and argue about petty things. If I wanted to do that I would go back to junior school!!

So please, grow up and get on with your lives.

Because, in an alternate universe, the Hutts can capture Fondor and commission a custom built SSD at the Fondor Ship yards just like how if the Hutts can capture Kuat, they are able to build the Hutt Star Destroyer.

We have to take into account all possible outcomes, when there are 3 playable factions. This means, there must be a scenario where the Vong win everything, the Hutts win everything and the New Repuplic wins (the true story, as told by novels).

Who wants to play as faction that ultimately looses?

eh...I still dont find it relevant it should follow story not possibility but its your mod then again. Id rather lose as a faction if it meant following the story line of said factions campaign. Bsides whether the Hutts would capture either ship yard theres no logical way to process an SSD by such a lacking faction as the hutts compared to the NR/Imperial remnant where both factions had a logical amount of resources to even build such things. I like the creativity don't get me wrong but it can only go so far before it gets we ridiculous . I like the unique style idea too but then if one faction can do what the others can do when according to that factions history they didn't have the necessary materials or power to do so then it kills the factions realism imo.

The problem is that there really was no story writtin for the Hutts. We know they were able to survive for 2.5 years, then they collapsed. Our mod goes all 4 vong war years, and then jumps ahead and we play out the Swarm War.

We are going to stay as true to the novel as we can, but to make the game fun, and for the Hutt player to experience the full experience, we needed to write some unique history. I think it is a horrible idea when the Pirate/Consortium/Hutt factions of some mods just get dumped upon and are given all the Corellian ships, or 'pirate star destroyers' and such. This is completely unbelievable.

What we are doing is independent manufactures. Fondor always has enough resources for making large ships, for that is where the orbital foundries are, Kuat is designed to be a star destroyer factory. Whoever controls these locations thus controls the manufacturing abilities. This is how we are portraying it.

So it is not as if the Empire is funding a SSD, but it is rather the Empire is ordering and directing the construction of a SSD from a dedicated manufacturer. Very similar to how a car company is always making cars, but when it is your car that you are ordering, you get to pick the paint color and extra features. The empire chooses armor and many guns, the Hutts instead choose modifications for special weapons.

I suppose. Im not in full agreement with the idea still but Ill respect the concept and you of course. The other problem I see is when will there be enough time to even build one of these things? Most of the galaxies SSDS were made within a good ten year period. I may have worded that wrong let me rephrase: Most SSDS took a good ten to fifteen years to create and most of this occured during the Imperial era. Not to mention Kuat according to canon of the NJO fell early in the War and Fondor was heavily damaged. Maybe IM going into too much deep thought about this. But If anything Id believe the logical possibility of the Hutts funding maybe a Belator or a Mandator at the most but an SSD, even for fun, just sounds a bit silly.

well, its' not really a SSD, just a very large warship. Your comments are great, and i love reading them and having the challenge of trying to make sense out of this too lol

basically it came down to this:

we had to make something for the Hutts so that the Hutt player would not be left out with nothing to do but be cannon fodder. There absolutely no content about how the hutts survived, so we have some interesting concepts of diplomacy that we will explain later after we ensure that they can work.

But, while trying to stay true to the novels, we do need to ensure that the Hutt player has fun time. So we looked back and thought about the Dark Saber. This was constructed in a relatively short time due to slave labor and forced work.

We can apply this to the Hutts, and instead of massive ships made to carry legeions of troops, the Hutts are more fond of larger ships with massive super weapons. This will also help them fight against the Viscount and Stridents of the New Republic, for the alternate ending late war game.

I love the challenges you propose for me to answer Kyle, we will try our best to make it as believable as possible ;)

Damn you Burn for making sense out of that lol, I just have a deep dislike for alternate outcomes for things with awesome outcomes. But debating with you is pretty damn fun lol. Two people making points without acting like children. Ill think of something else to oppose this I swear it!
