That was the fastest capital ship battle I think I've ever seen in EaW... haha! Looks like space battles are going to be really intense!

They are. If you've read some of the books, if two capitals clash, a battle does not take long and both are heavily damaged if not destroyed afterwards.
But keep in mind that the KDY Republic Cruiser has an exceptionally crappy hull plating, so they are some of the easier ships to destroy.

The KDY republic is a fragile ship, the size of a large cruiser but the armor of a frigate only. Heavy armored warships will last much longer in battle.

The script is designed to be agnostic of the ship it's attached to.
So yes, it could be attached to the Executor as well.

But as 90% of the scripts for this project it's...
a) Still work in progress: There have some optimisations to be performed, the usability for the AI has to be improved as well as several other things I'd like to reiterate upon.
b) Will be shipped (including a documentation) with the full release of the mod; code exclusive free releases are difficult to do without exposing a lot of context to make it understandable. So don't hold your breath regarding a free release.

Is it just me or enemy AI doesn't launch any fighters?

They launch fighters as soon as the come in range. Take note of the heroes popping up all of a sudden around the 40 seconds mark.
This build had the AI configured to launch all fighters on sight.

Description

We now have the ability to launch fighters from hangars at will.

Ships can launch fighters by pressing SHIFT+Q (able to reassign this in game options to different hot key), allowing entire squadrons to launch from hangars of ships. If a ship has multiple squadrons, each time SHIFT+Q is pressed the next squadron will spawn all at once. Repeatedly pressing SHIFT+Q will continue to launch as many fighter squadrons (the entire squadron) as long as there are reserves left.

So, the first Launch will always be Fighters/interceptors, second launch will be bombers, 3rd launch will be anything special such as a hero unit or shuttles.

You can now safely carry your precious fighters past all those enemy AA frigates and unleash havoc upon capital ships when you are ready.

Just remember to not loose track and sacrifice your capitals the same way I did...

To prevent the question:
The Layer Z script in fact is fixed. In the final version there will be no engine glows visible. But in order to fix this, the ship model needs to be adjusted, which simply takes a while.
