Gameplay Details

Play as one of the four main characters in episodic installments, each describing the fate of the individual main character, as well as that of the civilians around you. The episodes will focus on each of the main characters and will all be linked to the devastating disaster of Wilcester City. This way you, the community, can experience an in-depth storyline, deeply developed characters and terrifying atmosphere as you live through the effects of the Wilcester disaster.

With the episodic releases we are able to put a lot more detail into the story, the characters, the level-design, atmosphere and features, which we hope will come to the overall greater benefit of the community of The Forgotten.

Background and History

We write the year 2003. The world is in a state of unrest, as North Korea attempts to prove itself as the new Nuclear Power, continuously taunting the US. Two years after the US-led invasion, Afghanistan remains in an extremely fragile state; it is ruled by warlords and is coming under renewed attack by Taliban and al-Qaeda forces. In the United Kingdom, one of the world’s worst epidemic outbreaks is in the making…

After a sudden increase of asbestos related deaths, the city of Wilcester, UK was evacuated by orders of the World Health Organisation. Shortly after that incident and before any type of sanitation could begin, Meer Enterprises bought the entire landscape on which the city stood. Now, as new owners of the empty city, they promised to conduct research in order to find a cure against all asbestos related diseases.

Using their privately funded security forces, Meer Enterprises established strong fortifications around the city and quarantined it. The organisation reported to the media that they will sanitize and rebuild the city to a much more glorious metropolis and turn it into the icon of the century. Following the major media campaign, people believed the new city would attract massive population and eventually become the new second city of the United Kingdom.

During the next few years, Meer Enterprises was involved in very controversial activities and even faced charges, accusing the organisation of attempting to create an artificial bacterial substance. The CEO of Meer Enterprises was accused of being involved in the mysterious disappearance of his wife. However, all of these claims were shrugged off as “[…] competitors trying to pin dirty media […]” on the impending success of Meer Enterprises.

In 2007, Meer Enterprises finally opened the city gates. Wilcester became known as the first "Gated city" in existence. To some it seemed much like an overgrown gated community. Meer Enterprises insisted on maintaining the strong security forces presence and wall-fortifications for "protection and exclusivity" of the newborn city.

Unknown even to some of the top employees, the Meer Enterprises’ soul reason for buying the city was to establish a new research facility, working on creating one of the most devastating Bio Weapons ever to have come into existence. The Bio-Weapon is largely based on a new substance, which was discovered a few miles beneath the surface of Wilcester Island shortly before the Asbestos outbreak. Meer Enterprises also was responsible for this Asbestos disaster, in order to secure a reasonable ground for buying the landscape. The plan was to develop the Bio Weapon and distribute it via the Black Market to the top bidders.

However, things did not go as planned. After ignoring serious threats of sabotage, an agent of a secret US based government agency, only known as SD-03, infiltrated Meer Enterprise. Shortly after the re-opening of Wilcester City, a “terrorist” attack, secretly led by SD-03, left the Gated City crippled. The bombs themselves caused comparatively little damage. They did however disrupt the underground research facilities of Meer Enterprise, causing the highly unstable substance to spread quickly. This had devastating effects on those in close proximity – not only under but also above ground. Those that were contaminated mutated almost instantly, spreading the disease by dispersing bodily fluids onto their victims and in many cases killing them by brute force. Although research has yet to be conducted, it seems apparent, that the substance takes control over the host and has the ability to reanimate the dead to further spread itself.

The substance spread so rapidly and forceful, that it did not just wipe out the majority of the new inhabitants, but also eliminated most of the active security within the fortifications. Meer Enterprises could not have imagined the strength and ferocity of the substance and soon found itself re-quarantining the city, officially blaming a terrorist Bio Weapon attack. All further media access to Wilcester Island was banned and thus it remains unknown as to the current on-goings within the Gated City and the surrounding Wilcester Forest. However, rumored reports have come in of outbreaks of similar devastation in nearby towns and villages. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Hey Folks,

As you will probably have noticed, the old TF website has been offline for a while. We are currently working on a new website, which will not only put the old one to shame, but will finally allow you guys to keep up-to-date with the latest news on TF again. Sadly, that website has not reached the final stages yet, so we thought we would at least introduce our new forums to you guys and use that as a website replacement for the time being. Either hit us up through the link in this news post, or head on over to the link found on the right hand side in our profile!
Rest assured though - the new website is well on its way and soon things will be back to normal!

Keep up the great support and see you soon with a new media update!

Sincerely,

Your TF Dev-Team

nope we're not dead. However I'm in the process of moving and don't have internet at home (so I can't upload any of the new media). I'm only now just on the internet at work - so I don't have any of the files here.

But rest assured. we're not dead.. and once I got my internet sorted, there will be a massive media update.
