'Ping' is pretty OP. Glad these dont have it.

Yeah, it is slightly OP. Have any suggestions for a new ability I can give to the TIE Scout? I'm still trying to work that one out.

Signal disruptor? Or temporary map tracking? Like for about 15- 20 seconds units are visible on the map but not in the fog of war so you cant tell what they are

I like the fog of war idea actually

Or maybe make it so this unit can be jumped in anywhere on the map while every other unit still has to jump in visible range of another unit.

That would be even more OP than ping... Think of all the spamming...

"The Vanguard was designed to perform scouting and intelligence-gathering missions, and was often deployed by Imperial forces in order to obtain information on enemy warship or fleet movements prior to a full fleet engagement. The type saw service with the Imperial Navy as early as the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY." - Star Wars Wiki

In light of the information above, would it not be proper to to give the Vanguard the same system spying ability that R2D2/C3PO has? This would enable the unit to function in the way described in the article.

Yes and that ability has been given for GC maps, actually. I'm wondering more about a skirmish setting.

you could give it a sensor boost ability that would immobilize it while in use but reveal a much lager portion of the map in its imedeat vasinity

Description

I know the model probably isn't as impressive because it's basically a simple edit of the basic TIE Fighter. Thought I would post anyway. The new role of the Vanguard is an armored recon fighter. It's not as fast or powerful as a regular TIE but it is armed with shields and has a much bigger line of sight than most fighters. Further, it has better offensive capabilities than the TIE Scout but it lacks the long-range "ping" ability.
