Jul 24, 2009 Full Version 53 commentsHanging out in MEC 2's shadow no more, the popular MEC 1.5 mod for Zero Hour gets a surprise update for the fans, completely changing the way its played...
MidEast Crisis is a total conversion for the EA game Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. It is a mod featuring Israel and Syria in a hypothetical modern war setting.
This is a non-political, non-biased mod, where no party is good nor evil. Both factions have their own unique arsenal and abilities.
MidEast Crisis also contains a new gameplay element where you battle for key locations. Enormous efforts have been made to provide an authentic feel to the project, including the traveling of several team members to Israel to record authentic Israeli and Arab voices and audio samples.
Accompanied by a soundtrack, which was recorded in a professional recording studio, MidEast Crisis is all about atmosphere.
Recently updated in July 2009 for a final, complete version, titled MidEast Crisis 1.9 the features include:

MidEast Crisis 1.5 was a big deal for Isotx and its fans. Many hours of our life were lost as we played the war torn maps, exploded into brilliant fires, and demolished enemies. In many ways, we had been looking for an opportunity to go back to the mod that changed our history and brought us up from our roots. It just seemed, with all our other projects, we never had the time. Affluent modder Larry "bhones" Griffith, however, changed all of our time constraints by tackling on the project himself with a drive that astonished us all. Thus, I'm proud to present MidEast Crisis 1.9 - an homage to the fans, a great addition to the MidEast titles, and a project that would never have happened without Larry's dedicated and determined work.
MidEast Crisis 1.9 still runs for Command & Conquer: Zero Hour - this is a disclaimer, in case our recent CnC3 projects have confused anyone.
MEC 1.9 is the result of a year of Bhone's slaving and attention to detail. Relentlessly, he picked apart bugs and added maps to the mod's repetiore. The below are just some of the vast changes he made in upgrading the game from 1.5 to 1.9:
You don't believe us that this is an awesome upgrade? That MEC 1.9 is pretty spiffy? Then see it for yourself in the gallery! Below are a few of our favorites:
You may download MidEast Crisis 1.9 right here on ModDB. In the .zip folder, all you have to do is drag it into a MidEast Crisis 1.9 folder in your Zero Hour and play. Further instructions are in the included PDF manual in the download file so be sure to read if you have any problems.
Thank you Larry “bhones” Griffith for taking a year of your life to refine MEC 1.9 into a vicious unrelenting masterpiece of carnage.
In particular, to anyone out there going to try MEC 1.9 for the first time, we suggest the Dune map. The Dune map is a whole new experience. It is so easy to get lost in this vast sprawling sea of sand, only to find yourself face to face with an enemy before it's too late. We've played against 7 AI on the 1000 x 1000 Dune map and encountered minimal lag; we're amazed that Larry was able to create maps more than 2.5 times the recommended size, and still make them playable.
So thanks Larry, and thanks to the fans who kept this project going. Dust off your copies of Zero Hour and give it a go!

t72 too weak there is no balance in that mod
when i extracted it to my zero hour dic. a error keeps popping up when i try to run game :(
how do you install it? Just unzip it into the Zero Hour main folder?
Make certain there are NO other mods ANYWHERE in the Zero Hour folder structure. ANY mods buried within are seen, used, and cause errors if they try to apply them. Please let me know if that solves it. :)
when i unzip the files into the zh folder and try to start the game it gives me an eror, can somebody help?
it wont let me play skirmish every time i do 5 seconds into the game it says i have won
pls help
Please go to your Command and Conquer folder, and in there is a "data/scripts" folder. In there, you will find a file called "skirmishscripts.scb". rename it to "skirmishscripts.ZH" when you play the mod. Rename it back when you are done, if you are going to play regular Zero Hour. :)
You are so powerful.
Hi, why don't you make a Merkava mk4? I have a moedl if you need.
OH, great Merkava MK4!
This mod has still some bugs:
Syrian SCUD Launcher SCUD Explosion crashes the game occasionaly.
Commandsets of most units and buildings are not useful ordered.
Syrian mine field leave a small area behind where one cannot build.
Syrian fortified tank button does not show how much power the tank needs.
Syrian Guard Towers render the RPG troopers motionless when they leave the tower.
I still do not understand what most of the syrian units talk to me.
Syrian civilains are still totally silent.
Some of the buildings are WAY too big (SCUD facility, israelian airfield).
One cannot order other infantry to enter the israeli quad.
The backgrounds of the generals power screens do not match the rest of the command bar.
Some shortcut keyboard buttons do also actions totally unnecassary (stop on the israeli base to make firing units in it stop also orders a supply truck to be build).
A damaged cruise missile launcher gets a full repair instantly upon firing its missile.
