it is. ;) It's both BSG music. >.>

and I apoglize if the volume was done, it was hard trying to balance the audio of the game and the audio of the music since the BSG music is not typically high volume music compared to the game sounds. In the end, I nerfed the game audio down quite an bit to try to balance it. It's really only suppose to be background noise.

Standby for a bit (ok a lot) of criticism.

Most prominent amidst the extensive list of problems I find with this trailer; the material is, simply, not recognizable as Halo unless closely examined. For most of the duration of the video, all that one can plainly see are the ships that you have designed yourself, which I find to be horribly ugly. Whether or not you agree with my taste, this simple truth remains - that while it is acceptable to fill the gaps in the unit roster with creations of your own, such units should shy away from the spotlight so that preexisting ones may take it. This adds to the fan recognition of the mod and helps it better represent and reflect the universe you claim it takes place in. If you simply must make your additions a major part of the experience, you should at very least make sure that they resemble the precedent, which your designs do not do.

I consider this to be an utterly fatal flaw with your mod, a flaw that I do not expect to be fixed. It is for this reason that I doubt I will ever download it (which is surprising since I dream of a Halo mod for Sins), and why I foresee that many future players will be either discreetly or audaciously dissatisfied with it. In the improbability that you do scrap your personally made ships and replace them with better alternatives, I would find only minor issues with your mod as of what I've seen so far. Among these, I suggest that you shorten the archer missile trail (a lot), adjust scaling or zoom so that smaller UNSC ships such as frigates may be examined at a closer level of detail, and replace the current plasma torpedo effect with the one seen in Halo 3 near the start of "The Covenant".

I doubt that adding a mere disclaimer at the end of my post will undo any damage already done, but I only offer such criticism so that you may produce a more enjoyable final product. I support and applaud your efforts sir, just not your methods. Good luck to you.

so you call yourself a halo fan yet you wont download BEST halo mod out there just because of some ships arent like you thought them to be in your little head, and just because some effects arent like you imagined them to be in your little world?

epic fail.

Well fact is, I'm a coder. I don't have the luxury of picking and choosing models. I have to make due with what I have and what I think will work.

Should there be any alternatives to less popular designs come about in the future, I will likely use them. I understand your "distaste" but writing a wall of heavy criticism to me will do nothing right now.

No, from my understanding you have access to all of the Halo:Home Front team's work and probably their successor Ringleader, if you asked. This and some other official concepts you have neglected to use gives you access to a relatively expansive library of designs to draw from. So while I do not condemn you for not using them, your position as a coder does not rid you of your ability to be picky with your artists and donations.

It doesn't matter anyways. I personally would like to see you follow my advice because I believe it will help the mod turn out better. However, I understand if your personal tastes differ from mine. In the end, we both have the same basic interests in mind, I think. Whether or not you believe my walls of criticism will help, I will continue to provide them when others do not. Either way, criticism helps more than a fanbase that worships your work as flawless and in no need of improvement.

The best way to judge a mod is not to worship it like its the greatest thing since sliced bread, but to compare it to its equals and see which you prefer. Alot of these Halo mods share models, keep an open mind, who knows, you might prefer someone elses and it appear in sotp.

finally someone who knows whats going on here!! -_- dud_doodoo, i hope your reading this: consituating to what the heck is going on here with YOU, if you REALLY like halo, then you should not have complete overdone the criticism. your opinion is really not appreciated due to what kind of criticism it is that YOU yourself HAS. upon the fact that you barely know anything that is going on here. If you wanted to post your opinion about this mod, THEN YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE POSTED ON HERE AND CRITICISED IT OVER-DOINGLY!! If you wanted to share your opinion, POST IT SOMEHWERE ELSE, BUT NOT HERE. so, one word of advice: KEEP THAT FAT MOUTH OF YOURS SHUT AND KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF OR YOU'LL GET RAGGED ON BY THE CREATOR AND OTHER PEOPLE WHO LOVE THIS MOD!! so, SHUT THE **** UP.

Dude, cool your jets. You are getting way too worked up about this. While everyone has the right to their own opinion, they also have the right to respectfully disagree or agree with that of others. While I do agree with you in your defense of CanadaMan and the mod etc, I respectfully request you keep the harsh language to a minimum. And while I too agree that some of the comments posted by certain people contain more destructive as opposed to constructive criticism, there is no need to inflate the situation with yelling and name calling. I'm just asking that we maintain a civil attitude.

Its alright, although it is a shame we don't get to see good close ups of the ships. Also I really suggest you change the black in all Covenant weapons to white. It just looks a bit weird.

One thing stood out though, why does a UNSC capital ship have shielding? I clearly heard "capital ship's shields are down."

Otherwise nice though.

Trailer was a bit long and got a bit boring near the end.

The battles seemed VERY quick, I don't know if it was sped up or not (The Archers seemed WAY too fast) but it seemed like ships would be exploding the moment the two fleets started firing. Looked awesome, but is it fun?

I loved the music at the beginning aswell, great choice!

Im sure it will be compatible with ALL the expansions, and the original. And while i respect the composer that made all the halo music, i would suggest(To avoid too many copyright issues, better be safe than sorry.) to compose your own epic music. Originality and Creativity is where it counts when making mods. Right? So, throw in your own music, maybe a few models, ext. This is all in my opinion anyway, so who really cares? Haha.

yea good point on the copyright. Although if they would start to wine, well, technically the mod promote there product, so on a marketing perspective, it would be stupid from them to do that.
But I still like custom music.

thanas Apr 28 2010, 12:50pm says:

Alright several responses, I made the video. This was an UNSC perspective, I was playing at x2-x4 game-speed and AI was set to Normal. When I was making the video, I was attempting to show just how large the battles could be with the Covenant, and the light show that ensues. Secondly, Most of the canon ships were already done in a previous video, so I attempted to focus on the newer ones and showing off all the new missile, MAC effects and slip spaces etc. I probably spent too much time on the huge battle scenes then the individual ships.

Reason for choosing BSG - I couldn't find an halo piece that fitted the trailer mood I wanted, BSG music was an little bit more flexible as halo music usually starts off low then goes to an high climax, which is not what I needed. (Also just to throw it in there, there is already halo music in the mod itself).

I probably should have thrown on the icons, but I was losing roughly 1/5-1/3-1/2 of my fleet for every major battle you saw.

james340 Apr 28 2010, 12:51pm says:

OK, first up, nice work guys.

To the people bitching about stuff - honestly, you go away and make something you feel 'properly represents halo' and we'll see how far YOU get. There is next to no 'canon' ships in Halo apart from 2 different types of frigate, 2 cruisers (halcyon and marathon, and to be fair at a push) and the Spirit of Fire converted colony ship. these guys have little 'canon' facts to deal with, and creative license in this case is justified!

my questions - do the missiles re-acquire locks on a different ship if the one they were targeting blows up? (no biggie, just a question...) also, is the S-MAC as powerful (expensive?) ingame as it is in the books/game? one shot one kill style? it's the only UNSC trump card really, S-MAC's should be weak armour-wise and powerful offensivly (even though they are a defensive structure...)
