SCENARIO

In "Get a Life" you embody Alexander Zemlinsky, a subway technician suffering from leukaemia.
Alex is not, unlike the protagonists in most games, an invincible super-soldier. But you wouldn't call him normal either, because there is something in his past that connects him with the events that are about to happen in the course of the story (we want to keep the suspense, so nothing more on that...). "Get a Life" will feature different environment settings presented in more than 24 maps, all of them connected to the scenario of the mod. GaL will offer about 11 hours of pure gameplay pleasure.

FEATURES

  • GaL will run on the latest version of the Source Engine, so that means you'll see HDR and the enhanced shadow system (as seen in HL2: Episode 1) in "Get a Life" as well
  • To give the player the best gaming experience possible, GaL will offer a custom HUD, an innovative healing system with several damage zones, drugs that will trigger a "bullet-time" effect, upgradeable weapons and enhanced enemy AI
  • About 11 hours of gameplay
  • 24 maps with varied environments
  • 61 characters
  • 13 weapons

Hi everyone !

You were a lot to download Get A Life, and we hope you enjoyed it.

But
some people complains about the difficulty of the mod and some bugs.
Even if the beta-tests helps to reduce the number of bugs, when a mod
is released there are often surprises, and GAL was no exception to the
rule.

We thought about it, and today we' re releasing patch that brings two modifications :

-For those who finds the mod to hard, they can totally desactivate the bleeding system by a simple manipulation. Clic here to see the illustration
-Correction of script bugs, abnormal deaths, bleeding or abnormal vision during the
first chapter and correction of certain bugs during the second chapter

Also
some people suffer from crashes that we cannot solve, this problems
happens in lots of mods currently. It is because of the Source SDK base
from the new steam version (we advise you to disable it) or from the
soundcache.

For those who have the new version of steam, while we are waiting for a patch, use these tips to play :
-Launch the mod
-In the graphic options, choose "windowed mod"
-Launch the first map
-When the map's loaded, choose "full screen mod" in your graphid options menu.

Easily one of the worst mods I've ever played. I died during cutscenes numerous times for fucks sake. The bleed out mechanic is also annoying and poorly implicated. The worst part is that the mod shows potential. If it was handled by a team who actually knew what they were doing this would be a great mod. I highly regret downloading this and warn anyone whos hasn't against it.

How can you say it was a terrible mod? This was one of the best mods I've ever played, and believe me, I've played a lot of mods. It was super long, there was only one NPC that was'nt reskinned (the heli) and there was not a single original weapon! Yes, it was difficult, and I admit I used god mode quite a bit. I also agree that the health method is dumb. But one of the WORST MODS YOU'VE EVER PLAYED? At least its got cutscenes... If you want a terrible mod, I'll find you one! This mod was probably my second favorite of all time!

i agree, this is hardly the worst mod ever. the only thing that i disliked about this mod was that the story was completely uncompromisable. oh and the flash light mechanic was one of the most annoying things i have ever had to deal with.

One of the best mods ever. Super long, great reskins, new weapons... what else can you ask for? The fiest mission was in my opinion the best, with supreme mapping skills... Also once you emerge from the dreams, you come to this freindly little villiage, with a type of "everythings gonna be ok" music. And then it transforms into a battlefield! Great, twisted mod, even though it got so long it eventually overstayed its welcome...Still, I loved the remodeling. I'm trying to get together a team of proffessional mod makers to make a mod called "Undetermined Destiny" with violent gaming with mapping to give the illusion of large spaces. If you would like to, I would be honored to have your help in this mod to recreate NPC/weapon skins or mapping.

Probably one of the best mods I've ever played, actually I just finished it about 5 minutes ago! But yeah, definitely worth the wait for downloading. I almost pissed my self a few times when some zombie in the darkness comes out of nowhere and jumps out at you. Well done!

Pretty good for a mod, but it's hampered by some really ugly level design in certain areas and some uninspired game play.
