Run. Think. Shoot. Live. Source. Black Mesa is the Half-Life 2 total conversion of the original Half-Life game. Utilizing the Source engine and its endless array of possibilities and powers, Black Mesa will throw you into the world that started the Half-Life continuum and introduced Gordon Freeman to the world as a gun-toting, bullet-dodging Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics.
wow

no kidding. they got the fassn wait for the massn! so manly and... idk the fassns good enough for me. (fassn and massn are multiplayer names for them, you get them in some mod, idk which one.)
i think they're only shortcuts for male assassin (massn) and female assassin (fassn). I saw the male assassin from Opposing Force.
Sven coop :3
I think the male assassin is only in Opposing Force.
Doesn't mean they wouldn't exist, I mean this mod strives to be a remake but we both know that it changed up the some stuff.
Are those the fall breaking struts from portal on her legs?
mean like the ones that chell uses in portal?yes those i can tell are fall breaking struts :o.
I think those are 7-mile boots or how they are called
"Those things attached to her legs, by the way, are cybernetic knee enhancements. Considering how often Chell is called upon to fall from high distances, they're a definite necessity in her line of "work""
- From The Chell Section of the Portal Section in the Orange Box Prima official Game Guide
Coincidentaly, the cut Combine (female) Assassin also had these enhancements.
Indeed.

They were on the original female assassin models. Did anyone even pay attention to the old model?
I did... and I must be blind, coz i still can't see them...

They mean the Combine Assassin cut from HL2.
not really much coincidence, it was totally purposeful.
yes they are
It sure looks that way. I guess when Black Mesa Blew up Apature science took over the patent lol
Yeah!It is it.
But its from Aperture Science, and that is down, and the assasin work for other guys.WTF?It cant be correct.
Its just another spec in the mist of HL lore
It actually can make sense. Aperture Science and Black Mesa were competing for government funding (as you find out in Portal if you pay a lot of attention to details) which means the government probably gets in on their inventions. Since the female assassins is work for the government, it is plausible that they are issued government funded and bought items.
I knew there were going to be Portal references in this mod
note also, that the late Eli Vance used one as a prosthetic leg
I always felt bad killing them...
LMAO me too dood!
These look impressive man
Lol. I always thought "die you craaazay bitch"!
hell no! those f***ers annoyed the hell outta me!
Who didn't feel bad about shootin them :(
In my 2nd assassin encounter inside of the Lambda complex, I had no qualms in annihilating the last assassin with an overcharged blast from the tau cannon.
Interesting is it not that Eli & Chell both had similar leg struts? As did the combine assassin from the hl2 leak? Everything points to it having been a shared technology...and this is meant to be a most primitive form of it, built into the boot.
It's not from portal...it existed and has been used by many groups, and it originated in hl2 long before portal existed.
Just sayin.
Eli's strut was in replacement of his old leg, not so he could fall far and not get hurt. They may look similar, but they have very different functions.
I expect the original story was for him to have taken his false leg from a dead assassin.
The original story was that he lost his leg to a Bullsquid. He is a scientist; with him AND Kleiner AND Mossman I'm sure they could make a false leg for him.
wrong, read combine overwiki, he lost his leg to a... portal I think, can't remember all that well, he basicly called it a "green light" so, yeah, I think it's a hl1 portal
This is only half-truth. Vance lost his leg to a bullsquid; it's cited in Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar. Also:
"In the folder "sound/temp/eli" from the playable Half-Life 2 Beta files, Eli Maxwell seems to be telling Gordon about an entity called the "Storm". In that speech, Eli warns Freeman to run when he sees a "flicker of green light" while being "out there", as it managed to tear off one of his legs when he made "the mistake to study it" (while the final version uses a Bullsquid instead). The "Storm" was therefore to emit a green light, somehow recalling the portals' and the Resonance Cascade's green color seen in Half-Life and its expansions."
-- This is taken from the HL Wikia article concerning the cut "Particle Storm" enemy.
Thus, since it never made it into the game, it's not really canon. The bullsquid scenario's the only one that works.
The one that Eli has is also used by legless runners in the paralympics.
They have been around for years, but are not the same as the ones Chell or the female 'ninjas' use.
Lmfao. NINJAS?
so that means... freeman could grab eli's "leg" with da gravity-gun ??? lol xD
Nah. Eli's fake leg s a REAL leg prosthesis model used today.
awesome
Dammit !
It's cool !
Leather <3
Leather? It's probably PVC.
I love killing those, they prove a really good challenge.
Also, the ones in the beta for Half-Life one had crossbows sometimes, will there be such ones in Black Mesa?
I believe they have shown a crossbow model, so I expect that these guys will sometimes have crossbows.
Looks amasing!
nice ^^
Her neck is broken!
Lol
yea you gotta fix that neck
