I wanted to revisit this, but I completely forgot how to install it or where to find the damn instructions:

Install the Alpha (2.0), and then overwrite the files from 4 in the reprective directories. Run the client.bat to play.

Meh. These guys sold out. Insurgency was never like this. But, considering their gradual changes to the original mod, I guess this was expected.
But why would I want CoD under a different name?

So, what does the total conversion consist of exactly?
I get the impression that this is tweaked stats with new skins and models on custom maps...

What exactly is different damage wise with the units, etc?
Are their new game modes like onslaught, invasion defense, etc, etc?
Is it a new type of game all together?

This game has conefire, it will always have conefire. And you cannot claim to be a realistic or tactical FPS if you have conefire.

The End.

"UZI Sub Machine Gun"
Ummm, what?

Since the initial release, this game had extremely high run-and-gun elements with the MG's, and it is still present in v.2.+ along with increased health/lack of one shot-one-killing.
So how exactly is a spray-n-pray weapon going to help matters when it comes to realism?
Or has this mod just ****-canned that idea completely? I don't know cause I haven't kept up with the news.

I think mods that haven't been released should not be eligiable for MOTY. Kind of like voting for a dead president in most cases. Or we all might as well render some models and claim to be making a mod but really just procrastinate with intention of getting moty from modb every year without actually doing anything what so ever.
And its really quite stupid when you think about it, not a mod till the mother ******* released.

Been playing this for awhile now, I have to say that I think they are headed in the right direction with this mod. It by far is the only mod for BF2 that is worth playing (that includes BF2 itself).

Pros:
- A bit less cone-fire (with hopes of complete removal)
- No x-hairs
- 2d iron sights
- Less vehicles w/server side configurations to remove them entirely
- Point capture by order (flags must be captured in order to advance to the next flag)
- Custom/modified maps
- Different game modes
- Team play/tactical emphasis
- Less action, more conflict
- Weapon pre-configurations reworked
- Commander bound to squads and vise versa

Cons:
- Not a very large supporting community, usually 2 servers have players in it at a time. Foreign: .:IGI:. and US: Gloryhounds tends to have all the action. Which is ok, but more variety would be nice.
- Certain weapon configurations leave much to be desired. For instance, the Assault class has Armor, Pistol, Knife, Ammo Re-supply and Smoke allowing for a lot of camping and grenade spamming. Where as the more logical classes do not posses even the most basic Armor such as Flak jackets (medic, spec-ops) let alone useful necessities. The only class that should not have body armor is the Sniper.
- Bugged Medic Paddles, you only get 5 charges, more often then not, 3 are wasted due to the corpse not recognizing the revive.
- Cone fire, now I’ve spoken to a dev about this and supposedly it is hard coded into the engine, which isn't surprising knowing Dice/EA. However the cone fire in this mod can really be aggravating. More often then not 3 shots to the upper body should be enough to kill someone or even critically wound them in this mod, but 8/10 times were you’re aiming isn't where you’re hitting them. This is especially seen with some of the weapons on the Chinese and MEC side.
- Fire pausing, certain weapons are virtually useless. Such is the AK47 (MEC/Chinese), regardless of the fire mode (auto, burst, semi) this gun will fail to go where your sights are aimed and will pause at least 1ms before actually firing. Now this wouldn't be such a bad thing if it wasn't for the next con.
- Dolphin diving & non-iron sight fire. This pretty much speaks for itself. Much like the massive amount of (bf2/bf2sf/cs/dod/list goes on) people who enjoy spray and pray no-aim action or jump-diving like some sort of bunny on pcp, this mod has its fair share players who abuse this ability. I personally think you shouldn’t be able to shoot at all while going prone or even while not aiming for that matter, as it defeats its purpose of a reality mod.

Now, granted most of this is based off my personal experience playing PRMM, and there is probably a person for each finger on my hand that can say, "I have no problem shooting people with so and so gun". Either do I, depending on the day and who I'm against, but that’s beside the point. The point of this mod (or so I’m lead to believe) is to be a realistic as possible mod considering what the engine is capable/compatible of handling or doing.
And all in all, I think it’s headed in the right path. Few tweaks here and there, new models/maps/game play additions (such as leaning) will definitely help push it as far as it can go.

So, try it out if you’re interested.

- Keep up the good work.

Jesus and I thought infiltration took a long time per version.
I cannot believe this mod is still in Alpha, it’s been over a year since I’ve checked this mod out.

Alpha stage or not, don't let the same thing happen to this as INF, release anything you have at the moment to avoid losing your community by not giving updates. One of the main reasons mods die out is lack of updates and community/supporting gamers (outside of being simply terrible). If nothing has even been released game play wise, not even a teaser yet, this may end up being dead before it was even born.
More fps games are coming out with improved engines, unless you want to continually be playing catch up and the 'port' game, I suggest getting the ball rolling.

- Release something while you still can.

Personally, I don't think you would be any sort of gamer at all if you didn't first try the game/demo/mod and judge for yourself instead of relying on others to do it for you.
I have relied on reviews or journalism to lead my life for me, or make my decisions, all my decisions are based of my opinion after testing the game. This I think should of been touched on, after all where does the 'Line of the gamer' end and the 'Line of the game lemming' begin?

Not a bad game, though to a certain degree it is nothing more then a very long engine test. The story it self lacks the same plot as the original from 98, though makes up for it through its updated engine and texture/map detail.
As far as being modification friendly, it is. However, due to massive limitations of the engine, source has remained known for its being fine tuned for HL2 rather then an all around versatile engine such as the Unreal Engine (UT2K3/4, ETC). I.E. Take a box full of goodies, keep the best goody then throw away the other goodies and the box.
This game also requires an ISP to receive any updates. Much like Battlefield 2, if you do not have an ISP you're basically **** out of luck as you will not be able to decrypt the game files for play.
Steam, the 3rd party program valve has created must also be installed. Granted it doesn't take up as much system resources as one may imagine from running in the background while playing, but there is no alternative when needing updates, etc. All patches, updates to HL2 must be through Steam and cannot be downloaded separately. Meaning you're forced to play the most recent version regardless of if its buggy or not.

All in all, this game is worth getting if you purchased the original HL in 1998 and wanted to see how its been improved 5-6 years later, or are a Counter-kid and your balls still haven't dropped.

Good idea for a minor modification, I personally suggest if you're actually going for the full blown realism and not a psuedo attempt, you remove conefire, add iron sight aiming, bring back squads (or the option) and up it to 32 players max.
As I see it, there really is no need to cut the player limit as long as you tweek the game machanics in the appropriate manner to where it forces the players to play realistically and without spray & pray, conefire, run and gun, etc.
Easiest first step in forcing realism is to simply add the leaning ability. Any fps that does not have leaning/prone is not realistic regardless of how hard you try to make it so. I think this is a good start for a mod attempting to bring skill back into fps gaming.
- Keep it up

2 reasons why this seems to be the case.
1. Netcode is not fine-tuned enough.
2. Changes to the accuracy when using ironsights, and not enough inaccuracy when not using iron sights.

I agree with INtense!
Hands down the UT engine has always been the most technical and versatile engine made to this date. HL, and even the new upcoming "source" engine still doesn't have the potential the UT engine has. Not only that but the support from Epic being by far the best mod supporting developers, what else is there. Think about it.
Not only that but, anyone who knows a bit of html and basic configurations of scripting can mod HL's stale 5 year old quake modified engine.
