About Median XL with 2 comments by BrotherLaz on Feb 27th, 2010

Median XL 1.F9b is out!

And it has been for the past three weeks, but better late than never.

This patch features the following changes over 1.E9:

Good, bad, I'm the one with the crossbow
The necromancer skill tree was overhauled and improved - the hated defensive totems were eliminated to remove the need to teleport around everywhere. This freed up several skill slots, which were used to achieve complete separation of the melee and crossbow trees by introducing a number of new melee and crossbow skills.

Jai maha Kali
The amazon bloodwitch build was further improved with the Balefire skill that answers the most common issue with the build: no controllable way to lower one's life for Bacchanalia to kick in.

Mod of the Year #6
Thanks to the votes of many players, Median XL ended 6th in the Mod of the Year Player's Choice ranking out of over 10,000 mods! This is a great achievement. Thanks to everyone!

Hi.

I recently reinstalled this game and started to play singleplayer. It is still kinda fun, but it is really lame that you don't get any good item drops in vanilla D2. So, can someone recommend me a mod that increases the chance of getting good items once in a while without making the game to easy? I also wouldn't mind having more monsters/experience, but it would be good if the basic gameplay remains as it is.

Thanks in advance

I might recommend to you Median Xl. It was created by some fellow by the name of Laz, anyways I think median xl would be something for you, the game increases the chance of dropping the good stuff such as the uniques, and it has this cool feature where you could change the diffuculty up to eight times the players allowing you to gain experience 8 times faster but at the price of stronger foes,, cool huh.. Although I can't say that it retains the diablo2 LOD gameplay you're looking for,, for the mod had changed lots of elements from the game from the hero's skills, the weps, etc.

Anyways, this is one decent and one of the most "unique" mods I know for D2 LOD... And also one of the most updated mods and still alive, trust me, Laz is still working on it till now.. Perhaps you might get interested to try it, though I forgot the official website it, just google median xl and you'll be directed to the right one.

btw. Median XL sucks as you begin the game as a new hero but it gets better and better further on. (JUST AN OPINION :])

Just to let you know, the Median XL isn't that great, AND IT DID NOT add the option to make the difficulty up to 8x or whatever you said, Blizzard Entertainment added that from the start, all you do is press enter and type in /players X where X is a number between 1 and 8, which increases monster strenght+XP pay out, not to mention increases the drop rates considerably.
