And it has been for the past three weeks, but better late than never.
This patch features the following changes over 1.E9:
Good, bad, I'm the one with the crossbow
The necromancer skill tree was overhauled and improved - the hated defensive totems were eliminated to remove the need to teleport around everywhere. This freed up several skill slots, which were used to achieve complete separation of the melee and crossbow trees by introducing a number of new melee and crossbow skills.
Jai maha Kali
The amazon bloodwitch build was further improved with the Balefire skill that answers the most common issue with the build: no controllable way to lower one's life for Bacchanalia to kick in.

unforgettable !
I spent years playing this game until WoW was released.
D2 Lod was the first game I was addicted to.
What an awesome game.
Just so you know, RogueJediX...
Uh, you said up front that you had 2 reasons, and you gave 3.
#2 is fair. If things disappeared, that would be lame. I recall D1, and simply starting new games simply because I needed to re-run areas.
#3 is easily fixed simply by playing TCP/IP (or playing over Battle.Net)- maps are regenerated every game session. Solo play is that way to cater to more relaxed players who wouldn't have time to search everywhere over again every time they wanted to play.
I think D2 is hands down better than D1. Sure, D1 had some elements that really kicked ***, but you can't ignore the fact that D2 kicks monster ***.
Yeah, spotted the error after I posted. The third reason came up midway and I couldn't edit it.
You have good points and I didn't even know Internet games make random dungeons, but that still leaves the major problem of the lack of savegames. There were A LOT of situations where I wasn't sure whether I should proceed into an area or not, but then I did, only to regret it a second later.
By the by, are there any mods for it that include such a feature?
This game is seriously overrated. Two things that made me stop playing:
1. No savegames! I mean, what the hell? If you die, tough.
2. Monsters respawn in areas you've already killed them, when you start the game up again. Had a hard time killing monsters in dungeon X? Yeah, me too. Just don't go back when you launch D2 again, because they'll be back. All of them. If they got this right in Diablo 1, then why change it?
3. No more random dungeons! This is why I kept replaying D1! After you've finished D2 with all characters, you'll be more or less done with it. All rooms stay the same.
Only three issues, yes, but that's enough for me.
