We have nothing to give you but your own freedom. [...]
If it is the future you seek, then I tell you that you must come to it with empty hands. You must come to it alone, and naked, as the child comes into the world, into his future, without any past, without any property, wholly
dependent on other people for his life.
You cannot take what you have not
given, and you must give yourself. You
cannot buy the Revolution. You cannot
make the Revolution. You can only be
the Revolution. It is in your spirit, or it
is nowhere.

- Ursula K. Le Guin, The Dispossessed

This total transformation mod (not following Fallout lore) aims to bring to life anarchist utopias after Global meltdown. It takes place in eastern part of former Canada and United-States. The game is a bilingual (french & english) single player non-linear RPG. It can be called a radical camping simulator or a positive post-apocalyptic game. The world has been challenged by the Sum of all heavily anticipated catastrophies. Humans survived and organised themselves according to a mix of anarchistic, aboriginal, technological and nomadic ways of living, mostly driven by anarchist ideas (anti-domination, direct democracy, freedom and autonomy). In-game, "Sum" refers to the sum of all catastrophies, the name, a new currency and mispellings of words "son" and "sun". The Sum (french version : Nous Aurons) is an art project created by the french canadian artist Hugo Nadeau (www.hugonadeau.com).

- Non-linear RPG (exploration based).
- 25 cities and hundreds of locations to visit.
- New interface and mascot.
- False & fatal endings and you can finish the game anywhere.
- Campfire, cooler, flashlight, headlight, solar backpack, flares, cart, bike, solar oven, batteries, GPS device,
teleport devices (eVAC), fishing, gas mask, torch, tent, ultrasonic device, radio, electronic lockpicks, rope.
- Hunger, cooked meat/veggies, boiled water.
- Portable electricity monitored for a variety of uses.
- Random objects and resources.
- Gather water, brew coffee, tea and kombucha.
- New skills : Survival, Travel, Reading & Search.
- New weapons : Atlatl, Crossbow, Slingshot, Blowgun, Gaz grenade, etc.
- Original soundtrack and ambient sounds.
- Environment dangers (air / water / soil pollution, radiation, floods and forestfires)
- In-game "Achievement" system.
- Thieves that are not satisfied until you give away ALL YOUR STUFF.
- XP gained automatically over time. (Bonus if you travel with some people)

Finally, since this update is going on, it has taken a long time to get out and the truth is that at least I am one of the people who are eager to see this update since "the Sum" in my opinion is a quite original total conversion without losing much of the essence that lost the grace of the original fallout saga as it adds elements, mechanics, characters, has not so fundamental history that in itself is not the idea of the mod as it is based on a free world where you survive in a "desert "desolated by natural catastrophes that in itself disgusted me certain things such as finding refuge 11 if I remember correctly and only find bugs ... (which is not bad but I also think that this refuge would have had hostile humans or something similar that is seen in some fallout for example one in which is populated by "Gary's") and not the loot that has aya is not what one is worth but a merit that if I see a lot of the game is his immersion in my opinion h and music and environments that give an incredible immersion with respect to the game which in my opinion the vanilla game does not do in addition to adding certain skins that are great old Fallout as for example certain power armor (my favorite is the enclave) and It also adds vehicles that in my opinion are a bit broken since you can carry unlimited objects in them and that in my opinion the fact that it does not have a goal bothers me a bit that perfectly the game is about a free world unlike what that normally one plays in fallout tactics (extremely linear) even so with its defects, bugs has many points to say that with a little more effort it can surpass enough to the base game where it comes from that many mods do not do. just wait patiently :3

Thanks! I think 1.5 is just a start regarding some of the things you said, but a huge step toward this direction too. And the first quests that are coming with it will really help many locations to bring more purpose to the game at last. I also revisited all special encounters, so there will be something more to get from all of them.

Any news on how the progress of ver 1.5 is going?

Really looking forward to it. :)

Oh sure Caine, now I am working on random encounters that will be more diversified and triggered by your karma with different factions (friendly / hostile / exterminated). It will be done in the next days. The 1.5 version may take at least several weeks to complete at this point as I will do all full-color portraits in one shot (at least 600...) and will add some quests (about 20). But as I am at least as much eager as you to bring it public ha, I will post all new progress here with some screenshots, especially when the colors portraits will be done... Thanks for your patience and interest :D

To expand on a previous comment:
The HUD is working against you on creating a serious look. I'm struggling to come up with a criticism against the use of the emoticons chosen besides a more unhelpful "bad", but they're unimmersive to the extreme. These icons/pics don't have to be works of art but this mod would be massively improved in aesthetic quality with their replacement or even simple removal.

Anyways, good luck on this and I'll be continuing to monitor development. This is a very different concept from the usual mod, so its piqued my interest. Figured I would throw in my 2 cents.

I will adress this after version 1.5 and come up with an "Interface patch" that will certainly add a lot of immersion to the game, and a somewhat more "anarchist" look. Hard to tell exactly what it will be, but there will be more textures (broken glass and iPhone-style screen borders), less smiley, more unity in the screens (less colours) and probably more all-black screens (make sense for a device connected to the body energy source to save on electricity by using dark colours... ha!

These kind of comments are really a sort of fuel I need to improve my work, thanks... It make me realise that I was (maybe) simply trying, with the smiley, to come up with the same type of character than the Pip-Boy. An always smiling, candid face that never leave you (like in the movie Moon), and never quite realise the danger he is in, and still continue to do "as normal". In the same way as the Pipboy, I wanted a little figurine that was always telling the player "He I come from the capitalist past, when everything was so generous and "perfect"". Maybe there are simply too much smileys everywhere... I should stick with the minimum, or use them in a more creepy way somewhere, like as faces of the robots of Capital...? A thing I want to do is (by inspiring me of Fallout who made up that idea first hand) to make clear that all the player devices are stuff from the past, and that somehow he.she still need them to survive in the worst situations... despite the fact that they have been made to make money at first.

Good to hear it's somewhat useful- I know helpful criticism is few and far between on this site. It's the not the idea of a overly bright or fun character to pop up that is the source of my comment, but the fact that I immediately recognized the emoticons as open source. Kinda took me out of the action in your screenshots. Can't wait to see what you'll whip out to replace it.

Oh I see... Is the fact that they are not genuine creation that somewhat bring you out of the action and immersion of the game?
