Hi, my name is Max and I do voice.
I absolutely can't believe it, I'm sure most people have moved on or forgotten about this game but I've been following since the beginning and this is what you would call a pleasant surprise to put it lightly.
Is it animated?
Hell yeah! I would still suggest modifying the skybox to have rows of roofs or just a bunch of roofs since the current vibe makes it seem like there's homes in the middle of nowhere.
For this level in particular I would have a mix of rooftops and maybe some nasty chemical facilities in the background with thick black or green smoke going into the air.
Dude, holy crap! If there was ever a case of a developer improving their skills over time this is the case! When I first came to the project it looked like a poor man's Left 4 Dead clone with less enemies and more of a horror aspect and at one point you guys were using ripped Cry of Fear assets but holy moly have you guys outdone yourselves!
First of all, despite the direct inspiration from Cry of Fear you guys have done an excellent job mimicking the experience in terms of atmosphere and horror, the new assets look good and I'm very happy you ditched directly using theirs instead of your own. The level design has improve tremendously from the original city concepts and the lighting you've pulled off look amazing, my only complaint is that the light of the lantern needs to extend further out for sure.
I'm proud of what you accomplished and while this is a rip-off of Cry of Fear it's a very well made rip-off and I'm excited to see where the project goes especially in terms of story because it would be cool to have the universe be the same but from a different perspective.
Good luck guys, definitely keeping my eye out on this one more closely!
Loving the new animations, they still fit the style of the originals if the developers put a little more polish in which I am a huge fan of. Where you lost me was the inspection animation, we don't need any of that fru-fru stuff in a STALKER mod especially in one that aims to go for the older concepts.
I don't remember if I posted my CM streams in the past but I recently uploaded my recent Episode One and Two streams making it a complete collection of CM on YT from me. Note that due to playing the mod as the developer intended I had to age-gate every stream so it may not be viewable on Moddb. Enjoy!
Criminally underrated mod, streamed here:
Played the mod, was fun!
Have you ever considered remaking ROTU or rather doing a proper Nazi Zombies gamemode in Call of Duty 4, I know ROTU exists but it's far from NZ and it seems no developer out there is continuing development on the gamemode even including ROTU-R. None of these had good singleplayer setups and were all centered around being online/serverside only aside from the very first ROTU release so seeing a fully featured singleplayer mod or co-op would be amazing.
Based on what I've seen you do I would love to see you do a NZ gamemode with all the proper elements such as working and animated barricades, debris, weapons on the wall, etc but centered around modern day/COD4 universe such as the weapons and YES, we would definitely keep the ROTU zombies but put them on all of the original animations and sounds.
I know you're working on some other projects now but is there even a chance of this happening in the future? ROTU was fun and worked but it's time we got something proper going.
Congrats Urb, that's a keeper.
Is there documentation anywhere for how to change the game mode?
Mafia Mirrors - Check
Mafia II Mirrors - Check
Mafia III - Impossible To Program In
I would modify the shadow to be less round and more of a thin line just to help sell it a bit more otherwise it feels like a top down sprite still since we're working with FPS logic rather than top down.
Streamed the mod:
Streamed it in case people wanted yet another dude playing the mod:
This is one of those hidden gems in HL modding, highly recommend it!
Wow, don't think I've ever seen such a realistic storage room in any Half-Life mod period.
Every new release just makes my jaw drop, if you set up a Patreon I will absolutely donate to you every month because the fact you can't sell your hard work is a damn shame. Also I'm an ******* for not streaming this sooner but I think I'll wait until the next demo so 1-7 is fully finished.
It would be amazing if after the entire thing is done you could contact Lucas Arts and ask for permission to put the game on Steam and GZDoom Devs for the same even if it would be for free because something of this caliber needs to be made mainstream.
As for the new build itself will you plan on making the skull and bones objects inside the castle be 3D or will those remain flat? I assume if they were 3D the player and enemies would walk through them like they're sprites.
What's the deal with the Midnight Shopping level? Is that showing off custom maps being added and does this mean once the project is fully finished people can make their own maps and others can drag and drop them in to play?
Not sure how you pull this off on your own but man am I blown away!
This is the first one I'm not a fan of, the original was a cool and unique take on a zombie having the face segmented due to cuts I assume almost like it's about to fall apart in big pieces and the recreation is just a generic zombie head.
Rest of the project looks fantastic but this zombie remake I'm not a fan of.
It's now 2021, is there ANY news at all or even a release if the project is officially dead?
Thank god GSC is such a community based company, you'll never have to fear your project being taken down or removed.
It's one thing to recreate the environments but it's another to program in all of the gameplay mechanics and AI that made STALKER unique and that's where I fear this project will fall.
I hope that never happens and I wish you and the team good luck!
If this doesn't get you into the video game industry then the video game industry is dead.
Definitely getting RTCW vibes from this one.
I would love to know the process he used to create the HL1 civilians, they turned out excellent.
It's too bad you can't port some of the maps from Reign of the Undead, since the gameplay is basically the same a ton of those old maps would fit right at home in this mod.
Link has been fixed!
Appreciate it man!
Look excellent, Definitely nailed it looking like a real office building. What engine is this by the way?
Will the hologram demonstrate more than just the jumping portion such as the crouching portion, etc? Always found it weird how it selectively shows the player how to do something and not show others.
