I absolutely love the Source engine. Perfect, in my opinion. A breeze to administrate servers (running servers, not playing video game police), very easy to develop for and has an excellent fan base.
Um Source is updated everr 2 - 4 years! HL2, HL2-EP1 , Orange Box, L4D , L4D2 Alien Swarm and Portal 2 are all different version that are all compatible with each other but the newer ones have more options / effects (Particles- Orange Box and Instances *L4D are both examples)
I'd have to say UDK. It is far superior in the department of accessibility by all members of a development team. Source just takes a bit more effort just to get something working in-game, not to mention it takes more work just to get static meshes working. Come on valve, make it easier just to import static meshes. Stop giving me the whole "Requires a bone" mess and qc bs.
Source Engine.
Source FTW
Source!

Unless you're trying to integrate new art assets, in which case Source is backwards and obstinate.
snapped. It's really true tho :|.
But Source is still awesome.
Sign and agree...to me, most source projects have the same style/look exactly the same.
though it's not so different with UDK too. i both löve UDK and Source. both awesome
TAKE THIS!
Dear Esther (Remake!)
AND THAT!
Black Mesa: Source
FINISH HIM!
Raindrop
(Just to name a few that wonderfully incorporate all new assets.)

Source ftw.
SAUCE FTW
I'm working at Source engine about 4 years,and I LOVE it,but every time I run Hammer - I HATE it.. I can't explain it =)
not that i have the skill to but if i could i'd use UDK, free and good games... and the source engine has enough games on it :P
"Orge"
LMAO.
Its OGRE.
i see what he did there XD
And its a motherflipping graphics engine, not a game engine!
Custom built engine with OGRE for the graphics. OGRE isn't a game engine.
They mean it as an example, even though it's not a game engine, it's still an open source engine :)
i didnt know what to vote on becoz I use the sage engine of EA *CnC game* so i voted for a open source engine.
that would be a commercial engine then
source, frostbite, or ut4
whats ut4? lol you're well informed sir.
Unreal Tournament.. Either a Typo or they mean 2004.. :)
Unreal Engine 4 IS coming out, though. I still think that CryEngine 3 would be best, though, as much as I like Source.
Building on the Source engine right now

Any type as long as the game turns out the way i wanted to be! :D
PS:Depends on the game i would like to make! :)
I voted commercial because I am using the Source engine.
However it would be nice to be able to see what it is doing sometimes. A "look but don't touch" open source version wouyld be useful :P
If I could, I would mod with some voxel engine! Yeah bitches, polygons up your ***!
Voxels is awesome, just hardware intensive. Voxels with shaders? WIN!
Commercial but free. In other words UDK. Since I'd rather built free stuff as a hobby :)
GOLDSOURCE !!! :D or source
I think its called Goldensource? Or i am wrong :D
You are wrong :P
ModDB knows all!
Moddb.com
gallsauce.
Source or Unreal engine
Crytec 3
Maybe source but there are loads of games and mods for that now
maybe even sage 3D, or 2D, both as good
Id Tech 1,2 or 3 (Quake 1-3
UDK FTW
I am not interested in developing any kind of games.
Then what are you doing here?
We use the C4 Engine which is a commercial engine.
Source Engine - BEST! i think, easy to handle ( i recommend this )
GoldSrc - good old engine, easy to handle
Game Maker - Very cool for 2d games, easy to handle
SAGE Engine - cool for modding
Neo Axis Engine ( based on ogre rendering ) - good for all games ( i recommend this )
GoldSrc. :)
UNITY !!!
&
SOURCE !!!
Self written... 'cause none of the existing engines can provide what I'm looking for.
true...true...
The NS2 engine Spark! It's really easy.
