Fool! GoW IS for PC as well and is basically a mod of UT3 so it would be a total and utter fail.

Wrong, Sir Gears Of War uses the UT3Aka Unreal 2008 Engine, This is the same engine, Just because it uses the same engine does not make it a mod of that particlular game. Example: Star wars force unleshed uses havok physics engine, So does halo3, Along with hl2 xbox version. And so fourth

It's not a mod, In no way are they related, They may be produced by unreal team, But they are completely different and in no way draw content/rely on the other to run properly.

So you sir, Are wrong, a mod is not the same engine.

l4d and tf2 (and all those source games for another example)

it is nowhere near a ut2003 mod since it doesn't even use the same engine as ut2003.. So it's BASICALLY and LITERALLY a game, and not a modification of another game that uses the same engine.

Actually, It does use the same engine, But does not rely on the other game to pull content such as models/sprites and the sort, So it can be installed/ played on conosle without needing ut3

Gears deserves nothing. It's a subpar 3rd person shitfest, with wanky controls, stupid battles, and a half baked storyline.

The only reason people dislike Gears of War is because liking such a game would make them seem like the rest of the gaming population, and in their views the rest of the gaming population is made of idiots. So to impress themselves and others, they choose to dislike the game, despite having only played a small portion of the game, if any at all.

There are a lot better games, but it's certainly not a "shitfest, with wanky controls, stupid battles, and a half baked storyline."

Well, moddable and open console games... it actually would make me buy one of the consoles. ;-) And if the games were easier moddable (and specially designed for this purpose too). ^^

A console for games and sandbox modelling + coding. ^^ Oh rather an unfulfillable dream. = (

UT3 for the PS3 was a start for PC/Console moding. however that still had some issues i believe. think sound was one of them. atleast it does allow new content and not just create a a new map.

HL2 ahs a wiimote mod :P

The wiimote is perfect for aiming if you have a large flatscreen and lots of room :D. But its the controls I wish they would change. Like make it bond style where moving the joystick TURNS instead of strafes, and you have to hold the C button to strafe. Would make it far superior to the controls in most if not all currently (Mainly, Red Steel, Loved the game but hated the aiming controls).

The TV incidents were because people neglected to wear the wriststraps, and there is maybe a dozen cases that the strap broke on Wii Baseball, and that issue is now resolved with the new straps. Also there IS a wand for the PC as well that works worse then the WiiMote :D. All PC games can be modded to use the WiiMote (on the newer engines anyways, I won't speak for quake 3 and below.)

The wiimote can have any keystroke assigned to any buttons or sensors. The wiimote can be used to do anything on a PC.

By itself, it's not a good controller... but used in different ways that what has already been done would be good.

I'm glad you mentioned the wii. The hardware, is in fact "hackable" if you didnt know.

Ted.com
- check out that. Its a guy named johnny lee who is considered basically the mozart of wii hacking.

Furthermore one can use the wiimote and nunchuck to power max/msp .. a graphical object oriented programming environment.

Youtube.com
- a band using wiimotes to play music in this manner.

The wii is in my opinion an innovative controller in many ways. Sure, the technology is old, but it really does use it cleverly. In many ways the wii is "modable" and is already being modded by enthusiastic people in the community

i am exceptionally excited about this:
Youtube.com

Using the infrared interface in this manner could radically improve gameplay!!! Theres no reason a clever modder cannot employ this technique NOW!

Also, (since this is a hot topic ill throw in my opinion) GoW is a mindless fragfest compared to some of the artistic gaming experiences out there like Bioshock, SS2, Deus Ex, Fallout 3 to name a few. Its like falling in love with the move 'independence day' with movies like bladerunner and alien out there. But to each his own.

No, the problem with the consoles is that you don't have (perhaps can't install some) all the tools on the console it self, so It would require too many 'switch', 'copy' and 'move files' Operations...
