Are you serious?! Source was made from the ground up by Valve, Havoc is the physics engine that Valve bought to use for Source, Source uses Havoc, its not based off it.

Source is the Child of Gold Source, Which is the Child Of the Q2 Engine which all kinds of games in the late 90's use. All of those are the child of the Q1 engine.

Also I may be wrong and gold source be it's own branch off from Q1 engine. Either way, they all have close ties and to any modder who has worked with them it's easily evident.

I've ported Q2 maps textures and all to HL2 DM in less than a days work. Most of that was figuring out Q2's texture formats. Even most of the ent's are all the same I didn't even change the lighting and most doors still worked without my editing.

Wrong, Sir Gears Of War uses the UT3Aka Unreal 2008 Engine, This is the same engine, Just because it uses the same engine does not make it a mod of that particlular game. Example: Star wars force unleshed uses havok physics engine, So does halo3, Along with hl2 xbox version. And so fourth

It's not a mod, In no way are they related, They may be produced by unreal team, But they are completely different and in no way draw content/rely on the other to run properly.

Actually, It does use the same engine, But does not rely on the other game to pull content such as models/sprites and the sort, So it can be installed/ played on conosle without needing ut3

There is a huge difference from using a Pyshics Engine and using a game engine over and over again. Anyone with enough skills (indie or comercial...) could make Gears of War with the UDK.

Well technically they use the same unreal engine 3 as most games such as Unreal tornument 3,Infinity Blade,Dungeon Defenders etc...But who cares.GO PLAY GOW2 IT HAS UNREAL 3.5 :)

The only reason people dislike Gears of War is because liking such a game would make them seem like the rest of the gaming population, and in their views the rest of the gaming population is made of idiots. However much I dislike COD, I have to say that Gears of War does not have a realistic battle system, then again neither do any fps/tps games.

I like the story, alil, the rest is meh...I liked #1 better than #2, and I just wasn't especially fond of #1...(Gears of War)
