An Overhaul submod for The Elder Scrolls: Total War, adding many major features, such as new factions, new custom campaigns, alchemy crafting, events, Oblivion realms and portals to them, dungeons, lore missions and guilds, upgradable settlements, many new units and retextures, traits, ancillaries and more!
New version of the mod has been released, bringing major features once again and upgrading to the official 2.0.2. version of TES. This version is FULL, it doesnt require previous patches, neither the hotfix above (it has been reuploaded to include the hotfix). It doesnt include EOP features by default. Install instructions
Due to the numerous issues that people had with running the mod with EOP tool, THIS VERSION BY DEFAULT DOESNT INCLUDE EOP FEATURES (the info on EOP is below the install instructions), therefore USE "The_Elder_Scrolls.bat" or "TESTW Launcher.exe" to play the mod, definitely NOT "TES UP.exe" launcher. If you want to play with the full features (EOP features), use the switchers that are part of the hotfix. Intructions on how to switch are there.
0. If you have a previous version of this path or the main mod, i.e., 2.0 or 2.0.1., you need to delete it first and start over.
1. Download and install The Elder Scrolls 2.0.2 Standalone. Of course, you need to apply 4GB patch or LAA patch as well, its located in your TES folder.
2. Go into your The_Elder_Scrolls/data and delete the whole "world" folder"! Otherwise your start campaign menu will be all messed up.
3. Download and install TES Unofficial Patch 2.0.2 by extracting it into your mods folder. You will know you are doing it correctly when it asks you to overwrite files, hit yes. This applies for both version, FULL and without EOP.
4. Download the 2.0.3 hotfix, and etract it into your mod The_Elder_Scrolls folder. You will know you are doing it correctly when it asks you to overwrite files, hit yes.)
5. You are ready to play!
To launch, use the "The_Elder_Scrolls.bat" or "TESTW Launcher.exe", not "TES UP.exe", unless you switch to full features version
This version doesnt have these features that are enabled by EOP ("FULL FETURES") - Alchemy Crafting, increased ancillaries limit, Oblivion Gate Travel (in Oblivion Crisis Scenario), 3 new religions (Maormer, Akavir and Eight Divines), increased required build points for sieges, berserk attributes for some units, ...
If you wish to enable them, use the swithers
The download also includes SWITCHERS. If you wanz to try FULL FEATURES (EOP version), you can use the switchers to change your version into FULL FEATURES EOP version. The instructions on that are in each archive, called READ ME. The saves from before you switch are not going to be compatible. For most peopple FULL FEATURES version works fine, but for significant amount of people it doesnt, hence I rather use non EOP version as default.

If you are having issues, such as being unable to launch or having frequent crashes, read the download thread to see tips, there are several ones that will help you. You should be definitely able to run the version with no issues, hence if ther are frequent crashes and similar issues, its likely on your end, see the tip below.

Tips for fixing crashes and performance
(TRY THIS IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES PLEASE)
TIPS FOR EVERYONE
(no matter if you have Full or Without EOP version. For EOP tips, scroll further down)
If you crash upon launching the game, you probably failed to follow install instructions so try again. (4GP patch is a must, apply it to both, medieval2.exe and kingdoms.exe). 4GB Patch can also various issues when playing the mod.
If you cant launch the game, also see if your medieval2.exe and kindoms.exe launcher are of the same size. If not, delete kingdoms.exe, make a copy of medieval2.exe and name it kingdoms.exe (both launchers should be 19 212 kB)
Running the mod as an administrator (as well as TES UP.exe) may resolve various issues, so always try that, as well as changing your compatibility mode in medieval2.exe. - LINK
If you crash upon loading saves/starting campaigns, try running a quick/custom battle first.
If you have low FPS, try to turn off shadows, decrease unit size, or decrease your graphics in general and give high priority to Medieval II in Task Manager. If you have lags/lows FPS, you can try this TOOL.
If you have steam overlay enabled, it should help with performance greatly, if you disable it.
TIPS FOR FULL FEATURES VERSION
(For fixing EOP tool issues)
- EOP tool has a trouble with some antivirus programs. Therefore, you might have to give the tool an exception from your antivirus program, or disable it entirely when playing. The Antivirus incompatability is responsible for frequent crashes in the game, as well for removing the launcher!
Engine Overhaul Project is entirely safe! Your antivirus might flag it just because it modifies the game.
In case the launcher settings change for some reason, I show below the setting you ought to have (left upper doesnt matter, left bottom matters significantly, and the one the right side is more or less optional, only berserks fix required from those). But definitely keep full logging disabled.
Features - 2.0.2
Expanded Necromancy
Necromancers can now raise executed enemies after every battle via mercenary window. You are also able to turn turn your characters to necromancers with a small chance when they in a settlements with a necromancer guild. Once you potetionally accept Mannimarco Event, those chances grow up significantly.
Expanded Vampirism
Added an ability to send characters to Volkihar (once you take it) to purposely turn them vampires, including your faction leaders. Hence, this way you would be able to the Vampire Event faster. Also increased "random" chances of being infected by Vampirism (when fighting vampire generals, etc).
- For both, added more consequental trait triggers - If you accept either above, necromancers/vampires will be more loyal, while the other generals will be less loyal.
Alchemy Improved
- Improved alchemy triggers in a way, that is easier to get crafting started. On the first levels of Alchemy trait you can gather only ingredients that you can use, hence it is easier to know which ones you can use
Forts as Minor Settlements
- Ashlanders can recruit units in their camps (permanent forts), therefore the forts can now serve as "minor" settlements.
Missions and Guilds
Dungeons contracts targets will now not be that far away (via decreasing movement points of assassins)
- Enabled several missions that were not working in the previous version - Primarily capture and convert type of missions and more Dark Brotherhood missions
- Increased rewards for missions significantly, implemented a new type of reward based on your income. The Factional Guilds are not a bit harder to get
Units and Balance
- Added Royal Chosen while keeping the original reskinned Heavy Altmer tier, hence the altmer roster is expanded. The Royal Chosen are availible to Summerset Kingdom, however if Council of Thalmor destroys them, they are allowed to recruit them as well.
- Re-added The Thegns.
- Increased movement pace of several infantry based factions - primarily the orsimer and argonians.
- Added many more availible armor upgrades - the orsimer are only faction able to upgrade armors for all their units fully
- Various other balancing - stats, prices, attributes, availiblity
Turns Times Optimization and Stability
- Reworked large portion of the scripts to shorten turn times and increase stability
- Garrison Script replaced with one that is much more optimized. The AI reinformences appear once you choose to "maintain siege".
- Added an option to download the mod with and without Engine Overhaul Project Tool (EOP) as for many people it doesnt seem to be compatible.
Other
- Fixed Akaviri and Maormeri invasions, their forces should now be actively invading.
- Blackmarsh can now turn horde when they loose all settlements (as well as Orsinium, Reachmen, Ashlanders and The Undead from previous versions)
- Campaign AI improved further, the Battle AI reverted back to Germanicus.
- The King and Crusader Event expanded to Forebears, Colovia and Thalmor.
- Custom bodyguards should now work properly.
- Morale for AI slightl even more increased, as well as their recruitment priority.
- Fixed the bug in custom battle select, there were some vanilla locations.
- Added missing descriptions for new units (credits to Jorven Greshnar).
- Added The Prophet to The Three Banners War (using the new model from TES TW 2.0.2). Implemented some other minor things from the main mod that I left out last time, such as Silt Striders trade resource.
- Replaced "Dont loose me!" portrait with "Dont lose me!" :D
In a few days, I will try to compile a guide to the mod- to each faction, scenario and so on... :)

LOT of people have issue running EOP (FULL FEATURES) - cant launch or crashes. So those people should use the version without EOP, should fix all issues for them.
This version has russian localization? I saw RU folder in youneuoy_Data
No. The EOP tool is from a russian modder youneuoy, so thats why. I suppose you could change the language of the tool to russian somewhere, but will not affect the game

Alright, i managed to get this working. I still ran into the unspecified error at first like last time but i fixed it. Not sure which of the changes i made specifically did the trick but i adjusted the properties of both TESTW Launcher and TES UP to start as administrator and run in compatibility mode for windows 8. I was not able to change this in the original medieval2.exe

I actually realized I should have put the ability to switch your versions (from FULL FEATURES to WITHOUT EOP FEATURES and vice versa. So Im adding this into the download today, instead of you having to download the whole 3 GP patch again.
If you have already downloaded and need to try the other version, you can download just the switchers.

Put them into your The_Elder_Scrolls folder and read the READ ME in the archive. You can switch repeatedly. Saves from the version FULL version work only on FULL version and in the samer manner for the other version.

I really love your patch for TES Total War, but somehow the campaign continues to crash after turn 4, and keep on crashing everytime I clicked end the turns. I already patch the game, using EOP excluded version, and also using compability methods as well as borderless fullscreen.
The custom battles worked fine though.
Try disabling antivirus as well perhaps? Think its still on your side.
You can send me your crash save and I can check if it crashes for me as well though :)

Hey, I tried your save, I with no issue run through like 15 turns, so pretty sure the issue must be on your side.... Make sure to properly check all the install tips, the compability and things like that
Hi, everything is fine but my campaign freeze for 10 minutes (I didn't wait longer) when the 1st turn is over and my time should come. I tried 4 times in a row but nothing. As for my settings I play on the hardest level but I compensate it by a few console commands like money. So, is it possible that the too much new information for the 2nd round froze my game? Thanks in advance.
Try disabling antivirus.
Also check if following ai movement is disabled. There is the auto expansion scrit on first turn, so lot of armies doing soething, hence if you follow the movement or play with toggle fow, that might be the cause.

Shall I toggle something in TES UP launcher? As I remember there was something in the earlier version's tutorial (maybe). For this version I only find the 'non EOP feature' version's tutorial video.
I turned off antivirus tried to start new campaigns and once it even dropped me above Red Mountain while showing the Dungeon faction what is weird because I am with Pelletine, turned off ai following and haven't used toggle_fow yet. And sometimes the turn also froze at Daggerfell.
In the next hours I reinstall the whole m2tw, the main mod and this patchmod and maybe it will help.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There is no vid for EOP version, because its basically the same, you just use the other download.
So, my previous problem solved. My new one is that I get a 'graphical fatal error' when I capture the Imperial City. Shall I abandom the siege (unfortunately it's a victory condition)? And when I try to set lower the graphics I also get a 'graphical fatal error'.
There is something badly wrong with your settings. See the install tips in the thread above, I assume using the compability settings and others tips should fix it for you :)
I am sorry for writing so much but I have a new problem. In Great War campaign via pelletine I destroyed the Colovians/Kingdom of Cyrodiil, few turns later the Empire of Tamriel and the remain Imperials became colovians. The problem is that when I interract with them by army or diplomat I get a CTD. If I don't disturb them than I get CTD when it's their turn, they don't have their flag on the bottom of the screen also during their turn. They don't exist in diplomacy and in faction ranking.

Thanks for the save. I cant really say, its weird, never saw anything like that.
However, for me it doesnt crash on AI turns. Hence that is again due issues with EOP, it doesnt seem to have anything to do with the bugged faction. Try to disable your antivirus to get through the turn, that should do it (and see the other tips in the thread above)
Also, from your save it is apparent that you have been using cheats (armies, money, moving, etc), so I cant rule out that you caused it by this, as perhaps you interrupted some AI process via it...
I'm shocked to see life in this mod. Most GoT mods stop being updated. Which makes me sad.

Hi great mod overall, I just started playing this today. Is there a way I could change the turns per year for 2 turns instead of 1?
Not sure what you mean, there are 12 turns per year... will be lowered in future version, as I will be able to make elves live longer. I kept 12TPY because otherwise lot of characters would die pretty quickly, while they are are not supposed.
If you want to change turns per year, you gotta edit timescale in descr_strat and season script in campaign_script.txt (in a relevant campaign)

really wanna play this and installed into mods like instructed ive done it 3 time now and ive used th 4gb patch, i see the patches loading screen then it crashes i also deleted the world folder before installing patch as instructed please help
