Tiberium Wars Advanced seeks to bring the game closer to its Westwood roots while also maintaining the unique new flavor that Tiberium Wars brought to the series. New units, abilities, structures, strategies and a fresh gameplay experience are just a few of the things TWA brings to the table. With updated gameplay that brings the "Strategy" back into RTS and removes the "zerg rush" mentality, TWA is a mod that will appeal to both die-hard, base-building Westwood fans and those relatively new to the franchise alike. Don't believe us? Give it a download and try it out!

Why is it unable to attack ground targets? Nobody would send an AA-unit into battle with nothing against close ground enemies. At least a small anti-infantry gun is necessary. But why isn't it possible to lower the barrels to attack a ground target?

In order to maximize the AA capabilities, the targeting computer of the Centurion was optimized for hitting airborne targets only. As the poor targeting capabilities against ground units proved dangerous to nearby friendly units, GDI disabled any AG capabilities the Centurion still retained.

gameplay reasons

It prevents the unit from being distracted by infantry and smaller units. It gets annoying for the player when Centurions prefer to attack tripods (without much effect) and ignore the PACs and Dewastators, thus they are limited to air.

(and Centurions can simply crush light infantry)

But it works fine for the Gattling Tank in Yuri's Revenge, it can attack both air and ground. I would prefer that actually.

Actually no it doesn't it had the same problem, the USA Avenger in ZH was the best AA unit ever BECAUSE it had a seperate turret for air only

well but it's not really realistic.. I mean, when you're in the war in a centurion, and you have a tripod just in front of you
you want to retrerat but you try to do aminimum of damage anyway... it would add a bit realism to this unit which is very beatiful (the turret is inspired of the german gepard eh? ^^)

Problem is that the whole game isn´t designed with this concept in mind. Tanks with only a main cannon, infantry without any sidearms, air superiority fighters without a secondary weapon - the list goes on endlessly. We cannot change all units (mainly due to time limits) and changing only a couple of units would make them unnecessarily more complicated to use and frustrating to the player.

Yes, the turret design was mainly "inspired" [*cough* ;) ] by the Gepard, it simply seemed to be the most promising design for such a "sci fi" unit.

indeed, I mean if you want to add such realism every rifle infantry would be AA, because pointing a gun 50degrees up isn't that hard

BTW, centurion looks like a cheap rip-off from the slinshot, it still does after reading the description

but still, you should have armed it with an anti infantry gun so that it will have protection against missile squads and other anti-tank infantry.

Well... That looks really cool... But to be honest... It's really a pain that it can't attack ground targets... I have been playing KW, where GDI has the Slingshot, and once I ran into a situation where my APCs are all gone and the Predator can't deal with the infantries and the Slingshots just sits there and can't do anything except having all the bullets and missiles poured on them... In realistic, the AA units like that should be able to deal certain amount of damage to the ground units like infantries and LAVs, although they ARE NOT accurate in doing that... (they just kinda to dish out a barrage at the enemy and the flaks from their bullet will try to hurt someone...) they just can't shoot at the targets which are too close to them since their barrels can't lower that much to aim at them... Why don't you setup an ability for the Centurion where they can target the ground units when the ability is activated? And players can just switch it on/off to control what they want these vehicles to target? Is that possible?

By the way, what software did you use to make that model and texture? 3D Max? It's REALLY COOL!!! I wish I could do that too... It looks much better than the Slingshot!!! I love it!!! For this reason, I'M GOING TO TRY OUT YOUR MOD!!! HAHA! Great job, buddy!!!

!!! run the infantry over! just squish em. your slingshot is one of the fastest units in the game so either use its speed to intercept aircraft or to run over the silly infantry shooting the unit you failed to protect.

i think the point that is being bade is this is a game and not reality. if a game was exactly like things were in real life it would get boring IMO.

Company of Heroes is a game with a huge grade of realism and it isn't boring. The truth is, with the realism increasing mod "Battle of the Bulge" it is much better. (But that's my opinion!)

I too like "realistic" gameplay so I agree that it´s not per se a boring concept. However, as said above, it´d be a) too much work to redo all units from scratch and b) this mod is supposed to improve TW, not to reinvent it.

Maybe you can make his weapon toggleable so that it can attack air units in an AA form and Infantry in an Anti - infantry mode.

Furthermore it could be power constraits and weight constraints of the tank that stop it from carrying ground weaponry

So what with it when it is effective only againts air? Give it an upgrade to smash even ground targets.

making it be able to shoot at ground would be great (but have it prioritize air and only attack large ground targets secondary) though considering the firepower of AA rounds it'd make it a bit of an OP unit, be it awesome or not.

with these you can just waypoint spam the screen around infantary and the thing just zooms over them, and for vehicles... RETURN TO BASE!

Description

The Centurion is a new hover unit GDI developed during the Third Tiberium War.
It is equipped with a state of the art hover engines and 2 autocannons, allowing it to engage all kinds of air targets. However, they are intended as air defense only and are unable to attack ground targets.

The model was made by Golan and is (just like the texture) based on the C&C3: Kanes Wrath Slingshot.
