Dawn of the Tiberium Age (DTA) is a stand-alone mod that combines Tiberian Dawn (C&C 95) and Red Alert. While classic mode gets as close to the original game-play and balance as possible, Enhanced mode provides improved game balance and a lot of fun new stuff. DTA features many customization options for Skirmish and multiplayer (where you can play as GDI, Nod, Allies and Soviet on over 200 maps), challenging original singleplayer missions, as well as co-op missions. Since this is a stand-alone mod, you don't require anything but the mod itself to be able to play: the original game is not required.

That's great. I always wanted to have a Co-op mode on Tiberian Sun's engine. :)

sounds good. In all honesty you should release some of the mp coop and sp maps in open source as optional pack so that people can see how the scripting works etc. Would love to build some minor missions for this mod but scripting is different than it used to be in c&c1; & red alert1. 'Cause the tutorial sections for tib sun mapping were never really present or well written not sure.

Most scripting is fairly self-explanatory; just go to the Trigger Editor in FinalSun (Edit -> Trigger Editor IIRC), start adding triggers, and events and actions for those triggers. Of course there's some more complex things like linking objects (buildings, vehicles etc. on the map) to triggers and local variables, but for simple missions they're often not necessary.

The coop missions can be opened directly with FinalSun in DTA 1.13.

are the maps balanced for a certain number of players or you can play with 2 people the same as 3 or 4?

You're asking this about the Co-Op maps? For these it depends on the map; some of them can be played with any number of players (although never more than the specified max number of players), while others require a certain minimum amount of players to be present.
It is possible to add AI allies in order to meet the required minimum amount of players, but the AI might not always play the mission the way it's meant to be played (the AI will always deploy its MCV right where it starts).

Most co-op missions will be balanced for only a certain number of players. We will actually restrict these so that for example this image's mission will be playable with only 3 players (it'd be too difficult with only 2 players).

There will however be some missions which scale with the player count; these will have [2-3] or [2-4] as their player counts, while the missions made for only a certain number of players will have only a single number in their names (like this missions is going to be [3] It Came From DTA).

Do you guys plan to announce a release date for this one, by the way?
I only ask because I'm so amped about it, I've been checking the page every few hours for the past several days :p

There's still a few things we're working on, so the release is still a little while away. I can't give concrete date because it simply depends on when everything is finished, but I expect that it'll be early December or so.

Ah bummer, I'll have emigrated and will be without a computer before then. Ah well, I'm sure I'll get to play it some time in the future :)

Thanks!

That's a bummer indeed. I hope you won't be without a computer for that long.

Description

Do you like our singleplayer missions? Well, in DTA 1.13 we have a new feature, Co-op Missions. These are basically singleplayer-style pre-scripted missions, but created for multiple players who are all on the same side. These missions can be as varied as singleplayer missions, so there can be base-building missions, commando missions, and anything else that also works in singleplayer.

These missions force certain settings on/off (those grayed-out options) depending on the nature of the mission itself. The briefing is drawn by the Client, so it is always the same size and looks always smooth regardless of the size of the window. To see the map without the briefing, you can hide the briefing by pointing your cursor towards the preview image.
