 Visit TecnoBacon.com, go to the repository and try the new .DB format of the mod. Many other goodies there as well.

Now spend hours in the Zone without the constant hassle of CTDs! Almost totally erradicated! Help us finish testing the BETA, only five patches left!

If you use my .DB format then updates will only effect .DBi so you won't need to download .DB0 thru .DBh again.

I played a couple of sessions of this mod and found it to be interesting that when you wear a suit with a gas mask your vision is impaired ... fine but in real life you actually should not see the shape of the goggles because they are attached to your face! heh so how do I get rid of that overlay? also why is the Major at the bridge unkillable? I always have to take the long way around him if I want to avoid a fire-fight with him and his crew.

and last gripe is the dual-weld PMs CTDs the game.

For the annoying overlay you need to load up a save, go into the menu, then click on the "AMK options" and you should be given an option to turn of your overlay (you may need to restart your game for it to take affect)

Also the game is suppose to be unfairly difficult, and to be honest I like it as it makes the zone into the harsh place I always imagined since I know it will always kick my *** (I think there also may be an option to make the AI less cruel but you might have to ask technobacon on the steam forum about that,).

Major is unkillable due to Technobacon's unTERMINABLE or whatever it is called is turned on which makes ceratain NPCs invincible(most notably quest related NPCs) this can be turned off by removing the immunities.ltx in /gamedata/config/creatures/ folder pic: I.imgur.com
if you do not have the gamedata folder then you will need to get it of technobacon's skydrive Skydrive.live.com
and download this file: I.imgur.com
Then extract its contents to STALKER's folder.

thanks for the info but I did grab the BARE Gamedata file folder and the version I have is the latest I guess and it does not have an immunities.ltx so I'm guessing it is embedded elsewhere now ... don't get me wrong but I do like the mod I just need to relearn how to play it ... the start of it drops you in path between the death truck and the check point where the Major is at and the whole crew is always hostile towards my toon ... I get close enough to check with my binocs then I would have to go around to avoid them, which is not a problem since the xray engine got tweaked somehow & they don't "sense" my presence if I crouch and "stealthly" sneak up over the embankment to get past them ... the Commander at the Mil Base all the way down the path need a nade to kill him --shrug-- I'll check the forums like you suggest.

No problem, hope you get the help on the forums! (also the gamedata folder replaces compressed files that are in the .db files, allowing you use a modified immunities.ltx by the old fashion gamedata way, replacing the one in the .db files)

yay I finally got this to work using the db method from your skydrive depository ... the torrent method always crashed ... it seems pretty stable with only a few ctds here and there but for the most part playable for me ... really difficult to get around without being mobbed by critters tho especially the dogs ... there are so so many of them ... is there a way to thin them out or make them non aggro when I am not even hunting them or near them, it just seems like they go out of there way just to seek & destroy me making the game not fun at all ... I had to use the god mode option just to be able to fend them off.

but all in all just wanted to say db is the way to go if you all want to try use this mod, it does take a little while to get all of the files (don't forget to grab the BARE gamedata folder since it is essential to use it as your base to unpack the hefty 15+ gigs of files into.

still figuring out stuff but there is alot of innovative ideas at work here.

Highly unstable and unfinished, but this is one of those mods in which it doesn't really matter. You have to keep trying every new version because one simply cannot resist.

Takes around 6-10 minutes to load a new map or save, very unstable, crashes randomly (My hardware is plenty sufficent). 98% of all weapons are hideous, has poor sounds and animations, if any at all, they often got the wrong scale (Especially the handguns). some NPC's can't be killed, 60 rounds of 5.7 to their head, and they're still standing, then promptly kill you in return with short burst from their 5.45 rifle. An Izlom took 16 rounds of 12 gauge to die as well, stuff like that doesn't factor…
