Full concept MODIFICATION of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat that touches every game aspect including textures, sfx, music, weapons, A.I., items, weather, mutants, difficulty and much much more!
You know how Stalker includes a "100 Zone Survival Tips" during the loading screen, right?
Well, some of these tips are outdated or irrelevant with this mod, so I thought "Why not take this to the next level and make this even more personal for all of us?"
You've been to The Zone. You've experienced and learned a thing or two during your stay. Imagine stalkers sharing these tips and bits of valuable information at a campfire or in the hull of The Skadovsk. I would imagine that these sorts of things would be gathered in a sort of book or journal.
So to get to the point here:
"100 Zone Survival Tips" will now be rewritten as
"The Stalkers Journal" and it will be written by US!
You are welcome to post more than one tip. The best and most relevant tips will be included in the loading screens of MISERY ver.1.1.
A number of these tips will be from the development team.
Rules are:
1) Keep it short
2) Keep it as if written by a real person in The Zone
3) Keep it spoiler free
Thanks for participating!
If it's hostile, observe, not every hostile thing is worth wasting valuable ammo.
I'd remove the 'If it's hostile observe' part to keep it short and sweet
Good point but i'm making a reference of Ranger's motto in metro 2033: "If it's hostile, kill it". In STALKER it's not exactly shoot first, shoot some more and then when everybody is dead, ask some question. I think it's more interesting that way :D
It takes a week for starvation to kill you.
It only takes a few seconds for a bullet to kill you. Always make sure your armor is repaired and ready to go.
"In the Zone, the only real winner is the last man standing."
"Many of the Zone's dangers are invisible; pay close attention to your gieger counter and watch out for ambient heat or toxicity in anomaly fields."
"Learn to keep track of your shots, never run out of ammo at the wrong time."
"Your weapons have decreased accuracy and high recoil when firing from the hip. Use your scope or iron sights."
.
---> I strove to not only come up with a solid list of survival tips, but to sequence them in an order that has its own sense of internal logic. I feel that they segue nicely from one to the other, and foreshadow the challenges of getting by, surrounded by so much Misery. <---
Maintain your equipment so that it can maintain you.
Resting and eating in security will prepare one for insecurities.
Avoid combat whenever possible. Be a mouse till one's forced to roar.
Sneak from nook to nook, as a guessing enemy is a vulnerable one.
Running away is heroic if it saves one's skin. A dead stalker is only useful as a snack.
Return to a task when ready for it.
Lick one's wounds where it's safe to do so.
A knife to a target's back is better than a gun to one's face.
A heavy stalker is a dead stalker.
When exhausted, eat and drink, as it'll boost stamina.
Be careful of one's habits to avoid them becoming addictions.
Ripples reveal what's hidden.
Scan your rear before someone else does it for you.
Seek out the best price for one's wares.
Carry only enough ammo to do the job, and then carry more.
Select upgrades that will boost one's ability to generate funds, and those funds will finance further upgrades.
>Scan your rear
Heh.
(buried)
rule.002
Friendship is Magic. Even in the Zone.
Rule.003
You are what you eat. Try to not eat Snork hands...
rule.004
Yes, you can stand outside and watch blowout... for once...
no girls allowed
(seriously, game devs are ...kinda ****)
Come to think of it, it's actually more interesting when men don't have to .... see more men for such a long time, then it's like don't drop the soap .... A female character would be nice.
Ye it would be pretty cool if the game wasn't a sausage fest.
that was so ******* funny omg lol
Ran into a Controller today. Learned to keep stuff between me and it.
THIS! is usefull information! i was gonna post something like this but i decided to comb through the comments first ^^
If you mess with duty, freedoms loves you. But if you mess with freedom, duty loves you.
Shoot the Bandits in the back. They would do it to you.
Let the mutants kill each other and Bandits. Relax and enjoy the show.
Take every single ammo regardless of the type and stash it, maybe tomorrow you'll need it!
Ask stalkers if they need some grenades. You might get a better price.
Before you climb a latter to escape from a mutant check if you have the ammo toput it down.
(Seriusly ive been there and its not that funny :D)
.
Before you climb a ladder to escape ensure that you have the ammo to put the mutant down.
Or...
"Make sure one's enemies are dead before climbing anything nearby."
a tip to supply yourself: go out as light as possible, and bring back as much as possible!
When you see a pseudogiant or a chimera and you have only your pistol, don't think about doing "something" stupid.
RULE #17: DONT BE A HERO!
(zombieland reference :D)
This one definitely
Don't be decieved, STALKER. In the Zone dogs are no longer man's best friends.
i Like this one :) nice
Instead of carrying a thousand rounds, carry 150 if you're just heading out, and 210 if you're thinking you'll be in a firefight. Conserve it.
Grenades can work wonders, keep one or two around for when the **** gets heavy.
Shotguns can take down even the biggest of beasts. Get one.
Stalkers may stab you in the back, and a bandit most certainly will, but a good rifle will never let you down. Take care of it and it'll take care of you.
Like a wise man said, there are paths that you shouldn't take and terrains on which you shouldn't fight. Evaluate your chances before starting a skirmish.
Again, nice. Well done, ill make sure N. puts these in!
The food of the zone is hard to swallow, but even harder to find. Conserve it wisely.
Take the high ground in a fight. Even a rock may help protect you from a pack of dogs.
Weapons are your greatest friend take care of them and they will take care of you
Some other sayings I just thought of
If you survive the zone but your conscience is dead you are no better than a mutant to be hunted down and destroyed.
The nature of the zone is a mirror that reflects the nature of its creators and their species.
Men and mutants are no different they both die.
The night is a beast in and of itself. If you have to leave shelter after dark, make sure you always have the stars (and the moon) to guide you.
Just because you haven't been specially trained with it, every weapon still has its purpose. Ammo is scarce, and even the greatest sniper will need to make a hasty escape once in a while.
Trust your ears. Sound carries over hills and through dense brush. A faint but familiar sound may be all you need to brace for an unseen attack.
Keep a small pistol and cartridge in your backpack as backup. You never know when you're gonna need it.
extreemly useful!! once i had to cravl back to yanow station on low health in the midle of the night my abakan was empty and boy was i glad when i found the beretta with 2 mags :D only some dogs came at me but still it saved me :D
Hoard ammo, it is invaluable in the zone, it's also a good source of money.
Always keep one eye on the sky. If you see the flare, don't wait, find cover NOW.
(seriously, had to restart a game because i got caught too far away from shelter when an emission hit. :P)
Keep your kit light.
You're not some space-marine super soldier, don't get into a fight unless you have the upper hand.
Save early, save often, save in sequence.
When in a fight, the only rule is to win. Cheat if you have to. Being fair is secondary to being alive.
Always loot grenades, merchants pay well when given a plentiful amount of nades.
Bloodsuckers will breath like a dog in a chinese restaurant when near by.
Controllers love cooked grenades thrown at them almost as much as I love them dead.
Canned food will fill your belly as if you had eaten a grand feast
If you confront a controller try to get an object to block your line of site. (tree, rock, wall) If you don't see it, then it can't control you.
Peek out of cover and fire, at any enemy with a gun, especially if it is a controller or Burer.
If you hear a Bloodsucker and feel lucky stand still, don't move. Turn towards the sound, locate it, and jump to the side when it is close. Fire at will...
Never trust the bandits even friendly ones want your artifacts, trust only yourself. There is no such thing as innocence.
(Spetsnaz Reaper: "These tips have keep me alive for years in the Zone, if it moves kill it. Shoot first and ask questions later. Seriously.")
PS.Any Mission, Any time, any place. That is my motto in the Zone. Spetsnaz rule. 8)
Put your stash away, or on this spot you will stay.
The military is NOT here to protect you from the zone.
Listen for the sound of anomalies - The volume of their presence is often a better indicator of their distance than your eyes could offer.
When Duty and Freedom butt heads, it gets messy STALKER. But, you might be able to find some extra loot after the fight.
You're easier to kill when you stop, don't. stop. moving.
