Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Hello once again Generals! We are back with yet another update to your battle software. This patch contains graphical improvements, bug fixes and balancing. You can find the list of changes included in your download. Please remember to post any bugs you find so that we can keep improving your game play experience. That’s enough ceremony, go download now!

***Changes from 1.1 to 1.2***

-Russian Conscript Capture flag now properly shows a russian flag
-Greatly reduced the ammount of polygons on the Tesla coil to increase system preformance on lower machines
-Littlebirds now require a rocket pods upgrade from the airfield to gain their rocket attack
-Littlebirds now do 12.5% less damage with their minigun weapon
-Littlebirds no longer shows ammo pips for it's rockets (this was a requirement otherwise the pips would have shown up pre upgraded too)
-Littlebirds now gains a new ground attack icon once upgraded with rocket pods (compensation for the ammo pips)
-Golem Tank now has a new/modified model
-Golem Tank now has a new/modified cameo
-USA Vehicle drones they are no longer affected by EMP
-Chinese Airship it is no longer affected by EMP
-Chinese Airship now has search lights on it when used on a night map
-Airborne Humvees will no longer couse a random crash on snow maps
-Arms suppliers no longer play the door opening animation when they become damaged while not moving
-Starting the game in quickstart will no longer missmatch the game if playing with someone who didn't use quickstart
-Worldbuilder will now startup properly again (the previous patch broke this)

Note: Patch 1.2 does not require you to patch ROTR 1.1.



We also have a new feature to discuss, the new Tier System. These structures will organize several units, structures and upgrades for each faction and each of these facilities contains a unique ability or feature to serve you in the battlefield. Let's go over each of these structures shall we?


Weapons Bunker
These facilities are used to all manner of weapons from basic munitions to top secret experimental designs. They often have several levels underground and are populated by top level Federation scientists and technicians working around the clock. The Weapons Bunker is capable of assembling and launching the infamous Russian Surveillance Missile, providing commanders with an expendable bird’s eye view of the battlefield.


Breeder Reactor
A haven for Chinese military nuclear physicists, the Breeder Reactor enables the latest in nuclear technology. It also provides a large surplus of power for the commanders in the field. China takes great pride in these structures and they are a symbol of their nuclear might and of their march onwards to victory.


POW Camp
These facilities can hold over a hundred dangerous prisoners and have the personnel to interrogate dozens at any given time. They attract a lot of criticism from the media and human rights activists. Commanders who desire to build one of these structures must be willing to weather the inevitable backlash but may benefit greatly by gaining key intelligence about their opponents.

This sums it up for the new Tier system, we hope each of these structures will serve you on the battlefield.

Love the russian weapons bunker, looks very cool. :D

The chinese super reactor looks nice, nothing special but still nice.

The POW camp however looks like and is a direct rip from the old EA model.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but if you compare say, a building with an original design like the russian weapons bunker and a building like EA's POW camp, there's just no comparision in quality and design at all.

To be blunt the POW camp looks just like 4 boxes a base and a greyish skin. Surely the ROTR team can make an entirely new model that looks 3 times as good as that old EA model? :S

No offense but how long can it take to create two new buildings? Maybe a week tops? Lets say it took the ROTR team a week to make those 2 buildings, one extra week added onto the development cycle isn't going to make a significant difference onto the development of the mod, in the long term, or it's eventual release.

Just my opinion anyway.

You've already posted this on the forums as well, so I don't really see why you felt it necessary to do so here as well, but in case anyone else was wondering:
Of course it's a rip - you'll see the render credits EA. The team decided it'd be sensible to re-use existing resources than waste valuable time re-making them when they didn't need to. The model is of comparable quality with anything else in the mod - how interesting do you make a prison look anyway? - and anything that isn't up to standard will hardly be noticeable in-game. Rest assured it'll be much more useful in RotR than it ever was in vanilla Generals, and whatever you think, SWR do tend to work to their abilities rather than simply being lazy with a mod Hunter has said he wants to make better than ShockWave.

Generals will be the last major content added, most likely in the final 2.0 release. Base ECA and GLA sides will come first, but expect to see constant content updates - like the buildings here - before 2.0 comes around anyway, in addition to bug and balance fixes and the like.

No, as already stated, the fact that the buildings are in this update is entirely coincidental. They'll be added in the next major content update (not sure whether this'll be a patch or a more complete next version release at the moment). See the changelog for a list of what's added from 1.1.

i have a question:
could you make the "vote!" banner at backgroundsize (like 1024x768 or bigger) and a 16:9 version please? it looks just as good as the rest of your mod - awesome.

Im having a problem DLing this from FF or FS. Its says to turn off my DL manager but i dont have one. I am on HugesNet tho...I dont know if that affects anything. Is it possible moddb will be hosting this like the main ROTR file? Thats the only way it works that i know of.
