Andydam over at our forums has created an installer for you Mac users that converts Rise of the Reds 1.5 to Mac! Enjoy =) Greetings Comrades! Rise of the Reds version 1.5 is here! We've added a plethora of new content including many new units, improved AI that will use new units and tactics against you, an entirely new tech tier, and much more. This version of Rise of the Reds DOES NOT require a previous version of Rise of the Reds to install, you only need Zero Hour v1.04.

BTW Alex_CCCP, MAC is Apple OS X - Mac ZH fans can (usually) play the same mods, we just usually have to manually place the files.

won't even expand to a new supply area maybe thats it, if it is then please someone fix it I'm not getting any challenge from the enemy i can defeat 3 hard A.I ON THE SAME TEAM! in less then 8 mins

smacky, I realized the same thing, although it would be random. One round on hard with 3 opponents would be incredibly easy to beat, with almost nothing built, and another would have one of them kill the other team, then end up sending tons of tanks, aircraft, etc to wipe out my base.

I scanned the skirmish script, but it requires more than a scan i'm afraid. But even the original wasn't all that hard of an ai, frankly.

looking at the swr forum, they don't seem to mention any weak AI, so maybe there's something up with the xml translations or something (they aren't using INI files anymore is my guess). it's a shame, as it's a great mod, it's just missing that one element - but it'll be good for multi anyway. and thanks again for all your hard work!

ok, to install mac version:

1. Must have CLEAN install, updated to 1.04 - no other mods installed.
2. You can just use installer or use PACIFIST (shareware) to open DMG and extract contents.
3. When moving *any* PC ZH mod files into your mac ZH app, move the items in folders from the extracted DMG (or zip or exe) into your ZH app, OR just copy folders into your ZH app - sometimes, you need to replace ONLY the items in the extracted folder to the ZH app folder, and sometimes you need to just replace the folder; it depends on the mod (usually just replace folders - some mods require the original files to play, too, so if you just replace folders without LOOKING in the extracted mod folder to see what's what, you will 'break' your zh app and have to do a clean install and try all over again - i know, because i've done this many times).

Almost ALL ZH PC mods will play on the Mac - exceptions are this one (AI doesn't play properly, but is good for multi), and any mod that requires the exe installer to connect online to patch app files (like Vietnam Glory Obscured, I think, as you need to have ZH PC *installed* to patch/mod on PC side).

With Intel macs, if you have bootcamp or parallels or fusion installed, you can download *almost* any ZH mod, run the .exe installer, and save files to a 'dummy' or fake ZH location, grab the files, and then move/replace them into your mac ZH app.

The only drawback is not being able to run vanilla ZH or switch mods (to do either of these requires a clean install or removal of mod files/replacement of original files). What i usually do is color label new mod files BEFORE i move/replace them into the ZH app, then, whenever i want to switch/run vanilla, it's a fairly simple task.

All relevant ZH files are easily accessed, in your ZH Data folder (not the ZH Data/Data folder, although you usually have to place stuff in there, too). Hope this helps any fellow Mac ZH players out there, and if you need anymore help/tips, just LMK!

Also, i noticed that when using Andys installer, there's a .dat file that shows up in the ZH data folder...i have this sinking feeling it may have something to do with that? I don't know enough about this kind of thing so...but it's a tantalizing clue?

When i try to play it crashes when you start the game. My Mac is version 10.4.11 and i have the latest zh patch and no other mods installed. Really quite annoying and i've tried lots of different things and combinations with the files to see if it was one file causing the problem. I think the main .big, 'AIROTR' is crashing the game. I wonder what i should try to do?

Some words:
Really strange: "ROTR has everyones faction in one mod." I only see USA, China anв Russia... Very sad, that other generals was wiped out... And, teh best thing to if there is a Challenge Campaign for Russia Side against all other Generals. And now, some critics and other words (will say, because i'm russian):

1) The side Russia is very good maded. Really. The buildings are truly amazing, BUT the signs on this builds is a Roman Letters. All russian military objects uses Cyrilliс letters.

2) The names. Some names are real in army, but something called "mishka" in our army are really nonsense. Especially for recon machine. The real recon machine in Russian Army is BRM-3K "Lynx". Also, standard soldier in army doesn't called "Conscript\", the Conscript name has a privates that still no sign to oath. After sign oath - they called "Private" or "Soldier", or unofficial "Duh" (Spirit). Boris from RA2-3. Nuff said. EA makes a big mistake to create such a person like "Boris". If that person was a someone like "GRU Major" or something like this, it will be ok. No person names, just a ranks and army name.

3) General Suvorov. Why even Suvorov?? This is a famous historic family name in Russia, and see this in game... very strange.

4) Um, surveillance missile. I think it must be used as a strategic winget missile with chemical payload (like Baikonur Rocket) with small damagem but effective chemical area zone. Why? The satellite already had. And also it can be named as a real winged missile - X55 which is RKV-500 or by NATO classification AS-15 Kent.

5) The speech and sounds. Red Alert 2-3 sounds is not a best thing for this side and mod itself. Of course for me as a russian, this speech sounds stupid and uncorrect for the russian military personnel. Only way to fix that is find the real russian and record his speech for mod especially.

This is all my IMO, so, please, be honest to this criticism.
