I imagine this gun having a more...explosive effect, rather than burning. The plasma that lobs out of it is heavy weapon-grade and is meant for anti-vehicle duty. However, it will be effective against all types of units.
Great Supernatural reference if I got that right. :D You did a great job indeed, almost unimaginable what you do with all that details. The original one doesn't look bad either but it looks more like a common grenade launcher rather than a pulse rifle except for the minor details in direct comparison to the new uber-detailed weapon.
The legend of a crossroads devil is much older than the Supernatural TV show ;). I was more referring to the legend of Robert Johnson...who, ironically, was the subject of one episode of Supernatural. He was a real guy though and people did really believe that he sold his soul...up to you to decide if its true or not, I guess...
Ah, I see. Great to see someone else who's interested in myths and that kind of stuff. I have to admit, I'm not all that in in American myths, but I know that Supernatural takes most of it's elements from old or modern myths. An interesting story indeed, thanks for sharing the name with me. The devil pact is a very old topos and most of us know it from the famous Faust story of Goethe. Interestingly enough, the historically Faustus was a some-kind-of scientist which, of course,
was not wanted by the church and so his dead was connected with a devil's pact to make people believe that his methods of living were supposed to lead someone onto the direct way to hell. You can especially see this in the German Faust book from 1587 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historia_von_D._Johann_Fausten_(chapbook)) where the author clearly states his Christian point of view shown in the comments which are placed right beside the main story text, condemning his motives and his actions and connecting it with Christian mythology (Mephistopheles and other demons). Interesting stuff, I especially feel a Renaissance of myths in many American modern myths today. A very interesting topic, could talk about that for hours. I hope I didn't spam you with all that kind of stuff. :D
However, getting back to topic I really can't wait to see more Mandalorian updates soon. Great work you're doing here, can't repeat that enough.
Really, the legend of Robert Johnson selling his soul was created for similar reasons as the one you mention. In his time, black people were still a hated minority, as segregation and racism were still very much alive and well in the United States. It was astonishing to most (white) people that a black man could be so talented and successful with his music so surely it MUST be some machination of the devil! Plus, there were stereotypes surrounding black people and "voodoo" and everything else...it was all rather ridiculous.
Its a heavy weapon, like a Gatling gun or something... So, grubbed from the back and top. When I finish the new Mando infantry model, I will post with this weapon in a fighting pose so you can see how it works. No trigger was modeled though, to save polys as it would be hidden by his hand anyway.
It's glowing red and blows stuff up. Of course I like it. ;)
Though thinking about it, you might want to consider turning the grip upside down. Don't get me wrong, it looks great as it is, but imho it would make more sense that way.
I think in reality the pistol-like grip as it is now would be uncomfortable to hold for a longer period of time considering the mass of the gun.
It would also propably be easier to animate once you add it to the infantry model.
Gonna burn me some stormtroopers with these

I like how you have such an eye for details :)
Thanks! The difference is in the details! And also the devil I guess...maybe that's why I'm good; sold my soul at a crossroads. Lol
Indeed!
See you in 10 years in hell, if you know what I mean.

I love mythology and supernatural legends.

You show us the most pretty things.
This is ******* amazing! Great job! And my god it is way better then the original!
Thanks! Glad you think so... I never did like the original I had made...which is why it is the first weapon being improved.
So I have this probably stupid question, but where is the grip and trigger?

Good point, in that case it is awesome, I am interested to see the projectile that this beast fires...
I don't even know what it does, but I know I'll be blowing up a lot of stuff with it. >:D
It blows up a lot of stuff... ;)
Looks very cool. Judging frome the handle on top I assume it's gonna be held like this? Swtor.gamingfeeds.com
Yes, absolutely right! Glad you like it.

Yeah, you may be right about that...
Looks a bit like a flatter version of the TF2-Medigun ;) Love it!
Lol! I didn't even think of that but you are totally right...
Laser sight is a nice touch
This the one the mandalorian raders use yes? I hope its sound stays the same badass one, man I love this gun already!
Yes and don't worry...I'm fond of the sound effect too; it's not changing.
