Kyr'Galaar pictured also (left) for comparison, to show craft evolution and a common Mandalorian design aesthetic. Both ships are to scale with one another.

Engine particles not yet added to the Cabur-class.

Reminds me vaguely of the Viper from Battlestar Galactica.

Have you changed the Kyr'galaar's role from bomber to general purpose starfighter?

Kyr'Galaar was always meant to be a multirole starfighter :)

Looks cool. Will they hold a similar role to the Z-95 (or X-Wing, if the Z-95 is removed) as a sort of cheap first tier starfighter?

Nope, the Cabur is a heavy-fighter much like the B-wing. The difference is that it doesn't carry heavy ordinance...only laser cannons. The Gladiator-class starfighter will fill the role of a light-fighter, while the Starviper acts as an in-between or "medium" fighter.

So...

Gladiator = Z-95 (light, cheap, early game fighter)
Starviper = X-Wing (main fighter class ship)
Cabur = B-/Y-Wing (heavy fighter)

About right?

Well, I think comparing ANY Mandalorian starship to the Z-95 is blasphemy but I guess if we are just comparing roles, then yes, this would be about right :)

Blasphemy!!! Mandalorian ships are worth 5 to 10 of any other!!!

But role wise I'd say you've got them placed well enough.

Description

Little is known about this Mandalorian starfighter because it was only produced in small numbers following the Battle of Endor. Former Mandalore Fenn Shysa allotted the few ships produced to his band of Mandalorian Protectors. After Shysa’s time as Mandalore ended, the ship designs were placed into archive.

What is known definitively is that the ship had a general wedge shape, two engines, and a cockpit designed for a pilot and copilot to sit abreast of one another.

However, when Mandalore Boba Fett set out to finish the work of rebuilding Mandalorian society, the need for snubfighters of any kind pressed these designs back into production. They aren’t as fast as the nimble and effective Gladiator-class Assault Fighters but Mandal-motors’ technicians have fitted all existing ships with a layer of beskar plating to supplement the already hardy armor. They also have heavier armament than the Gladiators and are equipped with their own navcomputers, eliminating the need for Pursuer-class ships to slave their systems to during hyperspace travel.

The only drawback of this design is that it has no space to install additional hardpoints for heavier ordinance such as proton torpedoes. That is the major advantage that newer ships like the Kyr’Galaar have over the older concept. The Kyr’Galaar however, is generally considered a superior starship in most respects.
