The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
It's been a while since I've shown any units in-game. Typically I post ALO viewer shots because it's quicker and easier and gets the point across but I thought I'd hop into the map editor and actually get some screenshots to put all these units into proper context. Let me know what you think!
(all units do have engine glows assigned...you just can't see them necessarily, from the angle)
I came.
let's *** togheter!
I read in the news that Pornhub was trying to make porn in space... Guess I beat them to it.
Excuse me while I shove an upvote down your throat..
Please upvote me again Senpai! I like taking your huge upvotes.

glad that youre still working on this.
The shuttle really looks a lot beefier now. Great work!
Thanks! Most units in EaW feel too flimsy and 'thin'. Military vehicles are chunky and beefy, as you say. I mean, even look at a generic tractor-trailer owned by the military. We see those kinds of long-haul trucks on the freeway all the time but the military ones have all kinds of additions to them that make them seem so much more hardy than their civilian counterparts (not that semi-trucks aren't hardy to begin with but you get the point).
Those TIEs still look flimsy. Then again, they're also cheap.
The TIE models I've made follow the schematics almost perfectly. They are indeed just a cheap and expendable unit.
The problem with most EaW units be default is that they DONT follow schematics... It's as if the artists just looked at a picture and guessed the dimensions of whatever they were modeling. Now, I'm not saying that I follow the schematics down to the millimeter but I do try to stick to it as much as possible.
In general though, I just want most of the units to feel "heavy". Even a TIE fighter, though expendable, is still a machine of war. Guns, engines, instruments...these things all weight a significant amount and are usually bulky. Ever held even a pistol? You'd be surprised at it's weight, for being small. The stock EaW units felt as if they were made of paper in these terms.
Makes sense.
On a side note, there are heavier papers. Maybe TIEs (the standard fighters, anyways) are made of that?
Yes, they are construction paper... Lol
The weird expendability of TIEs has always struck me as odd. When the empire can crank out things like massive hulking walkers, giant planet-killing space stations, and Super Star Destroyers (because the regular ones weren't huge and expensive enough), why would they suddenly try and be cost effective when it comes to basic fighters?
In the movies, there's no evidence to suggest the TIEs are in any way worse than the rebel fighters - other than not having hyperdrives/life support. It only takes 8 of them (9 counting Vader) to wipe out almost all 30 of the Rebel fighters at Yavin.
X-Wings being some prototype super fighter was equally silly - they were whatever trash the Rebels could get into the air.
I hear ya. TIEs were inferior craft with superior pilots. It's very comparable to early WW2 against Japan. The first A6Ms were paper thin and had poor high-alt performance, lacked endurance, etc. However, IJN pilots were extremely well trained so they won most fights until USA could learn to keep up.
Tydirium is great!
Thanks :)
Looks Awesome!
On a not so related note, have you ever considered putting some of Republic Commando's Mandalorian songs into the music of the mod? I think it'd be awesome to be in a battle as Mandalorians and have Dha Werda Verda playing >:D
Considered yes. I don't think I will thought because I personally don't find the music fitting for Star Wars. However, music is extremely easy to mod so you can tweak to your liking after release ;)
